Thanks. You solved my problem of my IPAD 12.9 not accessing my 32gb jump drive. I had to format it as exFat - just as you advised. Wonder what other goodies you have. Gotta check.
Thanks man, I’m editing with LumaFusion and it takes so much storage, so I found out you can edit directly from a usb stick (without downloading the videos) it wasn’t working I just needed to re format the drive. Big thanks
Hi, I have apple lighting adapter and seagate hard drive. Not able to open my photos/documents on my iPhone 11. What is the problem? Please help. Thanks

3 min video. No bs to the point . Love it. Hey I have a powered hub but only one of my drive is showing up as “ no names “ the other one won’t show. Thanks
@@PeteJohnsMusic yes it's fat. I use it on stock android which needs fat format. After spending hours on RU-vid I'm telling myself that it's the iOS issue haha. Thank you very much.
Cheers my friend. It’s not super easy but I’m pretty stubborn! 😄 It’s mostly down to doing it so much that my workflow keeps getting faster. And because I edit on my phone I can do it pretty much anywhere.
I have a 3TB WD and when I plug my hard drive to the camera adapter USB and then use my original Apple charger to the adapter also my HD light just flashes like it’s trying to turn on. It doesn’t pop up on my iPad. I have the iPad 9.5 6Th gen in iOS 14.2. I can’t get this to work. I would appreciate the help.
I bought iPad Air yesterday, but I'm regretting now. I'm not able to share files from galaxy S10 (Android) to iPad. iPad is not supporting my C type cable. Please help? I have formatted the drive to XFAT also. But didn't help

My Seagate Expansion drive is not recognised when connected to my iPhone 11 (iOS 14.1), despite formatting to exFAT. I’m using a genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter. Can you help please?
That’s pretty odd? Maybe jump over to the Create Record Release Facebook group and check with the knowledgeable folks there. It should be fine as long as you have enough power.
I have bought 3 Apple different SD adaptors, IE. HDMI, USB and mini card adaptor and not one will show the IMPORT feature on the bottom right hand side. Why is this?
Pete Johns yep it’s a genuine apple lightning to USB adapter. And it charging the iPad when it’s plugged in but still says the usb uses to much power.....
This not helpful to my issue. I had been using my external San disk extreme SSD drive. It’s been working fine. I have a lot of my work stored on it. Now it is no longer recognized by my iPad Pro devices. How do I get it to work again. I plugged in a new one just to see if the usb connected was working. It recognized it immediately. Is the only way to change the file format is to use a PC. I haven’t used one since I bought my iPad Pro 6 years ago. It is updated with iPad OS 15. Now what?

Hello my phone doesn’t recognize my otg but my laptop does, what does it mean? Should i format it? Yesterday I use the otg and it works, a pop up show up and told me to download an app but I haven’t because I don’t have any internet connection but today the phone won’t recognize it. What should I do? Your video was very informative and helpful, thanks👍
Pete, I have an iPhone 12 Pro and am using a "The PhotoStick Mobile" and it is formatted to an exFat format. It appears on the phone in a "Greyed" out option. Won't allow me to set it up via their app on my phone. Any suggestions? Thank you!! Peace.
Pete, please PLEASE help me. I have a Blue Yeti and an Iphone 11. I have the newest IOS update. I have the lighting adaptor. I cann't hear myself for more than 2 seconds when I listen to my blue yeti (with headsets plugged into the yeti itself.) However, I know the Yeti is fine and the cables because when I plug it into my PC it's just fine. Is it my damn adaptor that's dirty? I cleaned it and it doesn't seem dirty. @@PeteJohnsMusic when you plug the apple pencil into the iPad it charges it. So if you plug the pencil into the hub will it charge it as well? when everything is hooked up to the iPad through the dongle? eg pencil into to hub attached to iPad by dongle and dongle attached to iPad? The reason I ask do you have to detach everything to charge your pencil.
Great content! Question, how do you get this system to work consistently? And should I simply just purchase a usb power hub assuming the lightning cable is not enough? With the offical apple camera attachment plugged into lightning cord/power source I can access any thumb drive. However larger drives work only sometimes. I have a sandisk extreme external ssd 1tb formatted in Exfat. It sometimes works on my iphone SE2 or says needs more power. Another Toshiba 500gb hard-drive just wont work. Thanks Pete!!!!
Much of it comes down to power consumption. The more power hungry drives need a powered USB hub to function most of the time. There’s some tips and troubleshooting info here. studiolivetoday.com/usb
I have a usb 3 lightning adaptor and my usb still isn’t working I’ve plugged it the power source when is says it uses too much power but it is still saying it uses too much power and no folder shows up. The usb is 256gb sandisk and has been formatted. Any help?
I’ll have to give this a go. I have the sand disk iXpand and just today I’ve notice that it won’t connect the thing feels super loose I’ve had plenty of them and this is a first. If I can attention the usb end to a lighting adapter it might work. Or if not just any old usb to lighting adapter like in the video. It might be a better option then always buying the IXpand drives.
OK so I have an iPhone 13, the Apple brand Camera adapter. Ive plugged it into the additional power supply, I've reformatted my device to FAT file type and it still won't recognize my USB storage stick. What do you think I am missing?
Possibly the drive isn’t getting enough power? A powered USB hub or ensuring the Lightning power port is plugged in might work. studiolivetoday.com/usb

Hi, Pete! I am using an ipad air3 running on ipados 13.7 and my USB is the sandisk ixpand with a lightning port. So it can be directly plugged into my iPad air3. But it won't show up in the Files. Btw, the USB is in exfat format. Thanks a lot!
Hey there. Yes, if you use this from the lightning connector end, you need to use the third party Sandisk app to access files. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vk3pgwzW7jA.html
Once you plug this adapter in is a widow or something suppose to show up automatically if not where do you go to find the usb flash drive you just plugged in. I am powering it up but nothing happens and I can't find that page with the folders you are showing on this video. Thanks

It somehow doesn't work. I have connected my Ipad to the lightning to usb camera adapter with power supply (lightning) and it somehow doesn't work with my Toshiby hard drive. It works with a normal usb stick though. Any ideas how to fix it?
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thank you, you are a live saver! I checked again if the format really was FAT and it wasn't, but it all works now, since I chenged the format type really this time.
There are two lightning to USB adapters provided by apple as mentioned by you in one of your earlier videos. I have an Ipad 7th gen with the Ipad OS 13.7 running on board I want to use an external wireless keyboard and mouse combo via the USB receiver Should I go with lightning to USB or lightning to USB+lightning I have watched many videos around suggesting both that it does or doesn't require power for external keyboard and mouse Not knowing what to do

Very odd? Using the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter? That’s the most common cause, along with power which is why I recommend a powered USB hub.

I have an iXpand 3.0 flash drive that I’ve been using with my iPad Air 2 running IOS 13.7. Until just last week it worked perfectly. Now when I plug it into my iPad and want to save my Excel files that show up in iXpand as saved to iPad screen, the “share” icon when pressed takes me right back to the home screen on my iPad. Before it always opened a window where I could choose to save it to my Excel files so I could actually work in them with my iPad. Can you help me? My iPhone 6s is also running the IOS 13.7 and it works perfectly with this same iXpand drive. The only problem is that I can’t use my iPhone to do this every time because of storage issues.
That’s very strange! I haven’t used my iXpand for a while and haven’t heard any similar issues. Make sure you have tried closing all apps, turning off and back on again and then trying again. This fixes a surprising amount of weird problems.
Pete Johns Thanks. So far I’ve deleted the iXpand app, closed everything and turned my iPad off. After turning it back on, I downloaded the app again. I’ve reformatted the iXpand drive as well. I’m about ready to just stop using this. Will the Apple lightning to USB adapter that you show in one of your videos work to transfer these Excel files back and forth? I design budgets and really need to be able to work on my desktop HP that’s in one location as well as my iPad that’s always with me.
iPhone 6s is no longer being supported by Apple anymore because they are past their time you might have to update your phone to a newer one I use iPhone seven and it works great with that.
Very useful. There is another thing to cover: I have a 2TB HDD that I used to store files and projects from my old iMAC. Since I decided not to use a PC anymore, with the iOS 13 I finally was able to read my tresure-files stored there :p The HDD is already formatted. So, I plugged the HDD to the powerbank and the usb to the usb adaptor of the ipad. Magic happened, I opened everything I had (kind of). But I have made two partitions of the HDD when I bought it. After a couple of weeks of using it, when I plugged the HDD, it didn’t read one of the partitions anymore! I am not sure what happened since everything seemed to work. It is a Samsung HDD (black box). So... I don’t know how to fix it, maybe I should go to someone that has an apple computer to test if the HDD will open there and see what the problem is :(
Interesting? And sorry to hear. Yes, I didn't cover partitions because these are rarely used these days. I used them a lot years ago, but haven't seen a partitioned drive in quite a while?
Yeah, I was really happy first because I had a lot of material there. Back then I made two partitions “just in case” and with the iOS 13 update it was finally possible to read and move files from there to the ipad and viceversa. I remember I wanted to move some files some time ago on that partition and. It started to fail. So I can open one of the partitions but not the other one. However, I can live without it: since I decided to work fully on iPad, I store most of the things there or in the cloud and I go further on music creation. I realised that I can’t save evreything “just in case”.
Haha! Yes, a realisation I have had to come to terms with too. I have had to just let go of a lot of my old original source files, especially for videos. They were just taking up too much space.
Can someone help me here please? IPad 6th generation with IOS14, brand new Lightning to USB 3 adapter, brand new SanDisk 64GB thumb drive formatted to FAT. Now, when I select my photos to save and I go to "Save to Files" I don't get any options, instead, I get a dialog box telling me I don't have enough disk space. HELP!!
