Using a fire stove, cooking oil and a teeny bit of water.
Impress yourself or your audience in the kitchen with these simple steps.
*Please exercise caution when attempting this.
1) Make sure kitchen is well ventilated or windows are open
2) Hold pan at arms length when flames come up
3) Dont place any flammable liquid nearby cooking area.
Have fun guys and tag #noalcoholflambechallenge if you did it 😘

As a professional chef I wanted to point out that it's not often considered to be called "flambe" because we mostly use the term only for dishes with a procedure that involves burning off the alcohol content of a specific ingredient in the dish like wine. This, however that involves the process of igniting non alcoholic related ingredients like oil or sugar we most likely use the term "flame charring" as to not confuse it with flambe. It's a method that chefs use often with stir-fried dishes like vegetables so as to shorten cooking time, seals in flavours instantly and also adds a smoky flavour to dishes. It's not often teached in culinary schools as it's a potential fire hazard. People may argue why but here as a chef, we pride ourselves into serving you with our greatest creations from high-quality eatables, but we also serve to ensure the safety of our customers and to do that we don't take the risk of using cooking methods that may endanger the lives of others. We intended to serve you food that you love but we make sure there's a restaurant that you can always come back to enjoy it once more.

Why does there need to be water? and could you give more info on how much plz. and is it ignited from the flame or just pure heat?
@sca8527
@sca8527 5 лет назад
I learnt that the combination of a little water, high heat and hot oil makes it happen. Sometimes you dont even have to shake the pan the fire ignites. As long as the food is kind of wet, I've tried it with vegies, tofu and it does the same trick.

Not sure if you know what flambé is, because without high percentage alcohol it’s not flambé. What you do, does not add to the flavour of the dish. Actually you don’t want this to happen.
