How to Flawless Victory with Phyrexian Obliterator in Standard | MTG  

I like the backwards idea of running pump spells to boost your opponents creatures when they fight your obliterator.

Assuming Sheoldred players won’t also play obliteraror

This makes me want to make a pure Phyrexian deck.

Imagine it with an "all creatures able to block do it" effect.

This is a standard without dismember. Obliteration will shine

Back whenever I actually played historic when it was worth playing (before mystical archives) my favorite thing to do to people using obliterator was Justice Strike. Obliterator then deals five damage to itself thus forcing my opponent to sac five permanents.

Never thought I'd see Oblit in standard ever again. This card is insane! My second favorite card of all time, first being vampire nighthawk.

I misread "flawless victory" and thought you were going to win with no permanents by hitting Obliterator with a big burn spell with Sheoldred's trigger on the stack during an opponent's draw step. I need more coffee lol

Obliterator + fight effects has been a thing since it first came out. My husband used to 4-0 consistently with it during Modern FNMs pre-pandemic.

i used to do this in historic. i made a green black deck that ran snow lands and a fight spell that made him indestructible. good times

There is cards that force opponents to block like Irresistible Prey.

What's hilarious is to pump your opponent's obliterator then justice strike it to wipe their entire board

That exact thing with destroying sll lands happened with my obliterator. Thought: "aw man i wasted it", not considering the lands counted. Was good.

this makes me want to re-make the first deck I ever made. it was a proto storm deck using show of confidence and magecraft cards to pump a creature till it was like a 17/12 and just swing in and hope

Brother Set, my idea would be to control the player's turn and make that player use its damage sources to target the creature.

My fav thing I used to do with Phyrexian Obliterator was to equip it with Grappling Hook and/or Inquisitor's Flail. Either, take 20 and die, lose your board blocking most of the damage and then die next turn, or if anything survives the first strike, deal double damage back to Obliterator and sacrifice your entire board, knowing full well I would reanimate obliterator the next turn.

With green you get Giant growth to give their sheoldred +3 +3, Obliterator takes 7 damage, opp sacrifices their entire field. The +3 +3 can also save the Obliterator if it's blocked in combat to trade. You also get Tamiyo hex proof and indestructible for one green. Seems good

I always felt Phyrexian Obliterator was way ahead of its time and would fit right into a modern Standard format. Glad WotC felt it was the right time to introduce my boi. Although I did like the old artwork more. Still awesome to see the boy is back.

I'm already saving my wildcards for the spicy standard or historic obliterator brews.

Quicksilver amulet was awesome with it. Put it into play at instant speed and block. And they can't really afford to take 5 a turn for long.

Spicy four-color deck idea, probably would never work due to needing four colors and four black for obliterator: 4 obliterators, 4 barren glory, 4 one with nothings, rest is fight and burn spells. Maybe some creature protection spells?

Lure would be fun against mass creature decks. Make all of their creatures block PO, and watch the board crumble.

I used an activated ability to make Phyrexian obliterator deal damage to its self equal to its power with a kamigawia creature. It was kinda funny because they had tried to make it fight one of my creatures after they attacked me with it attempting to force me into a block that would force me into a game ending event either way they thought but they didn't account for the open mana I had along with my creature.

I saw a deck that pumped there opponents creature to like 50 then used a fight card, also gave his creature indestructible

A year later I finally know why Sheoldred has deathtouch. Doing Arena dailies efficiently it’s so funny when I have an empty hand and weak board state, clearly losing with 3 1/1’s and they don’t swing with it.

I use to play him in a Kresh EDH deck and would force people to fight it with Domri Rade.

I play it in historic with Back for more, some fight spells and gerard's sacrifice.

Imagine the Phyrexian Obliterator equipped with Pariah's Sheild and Darksteel Plate.

You should pump the Sheoldred in this situation. If you pumped it high enough then their entire board is empty. Obviously, this is situational, but it would potentially be more effective.

I now have the idea to run it with lure, so when I attack all creatures able to block it do so. In commander that is.

Just remember to temper your hype. Obliterator was pretty quiet in Standard last run, & many things people think are OP (like Infect) weren't great at the time either.

My idea about building around Phyrexian Obliterator? Swamps and black cards.

I always put obliterator in black and green decks that have spells that require it to be blocked. People wise up to not blocking it a bit.

This phyrexian obliterator kinda looks like an orca xenomorph to me

If you have green then you can cast Colossification on the enemy’s creature, force it to attack then the opponent sacrifices at least 20 permanents. Though personally I’d like to use it on their commander and take it to kill them with their own commander with 20+ commander damage making for a very disrespectful kill.

that 4 black is either good or bad. get that mana rock that cares about devotion, include some zombies, and you get ramp. or gray merchant

Give him deathtouch and then he'll need multiple blockers to stop him, meaning he takes the damage from all of them
