Nice job. Sure, it may seem simple (and it IS), but it's always good to have someone from the company to lend a helping hand and support. Thanks! PS: I really like my CC from EmpireCovers - and so does my car.
Someone brought up a good point after watching our videot! Before you lay the cover on your flat surface, make sure the interior isn't touching the ground. You don't want to get gravel/dirt/abrasive material on the inside of your cover. Or, just give it a good shake when you unroll it and put it back on your vehicle.
Giving it a good shake is not enough. Would you just lay your own shirt out on the driveway pick it up, give it a couple of shakes and put it on? The ground is dirty! Even fine dirt on a car cover will scratch your paint. It should never go on the ground.
WHAT was this vid about, Christine? I was doin' okay THEN came those harness boots/shoes(?) & I faded into a 70's abyss! Oh, yeah. Folding a car cover. I'm back from the time warp. Nice to have the cover in wide open spaces. I've always folded mine on the harnen... car, making sure the funky side of the cover doesn't touch the painted side of the car. Then roll it stem-to-stern keeping in mind to remember to do everything in reverse to replace. Oh, I give it a righteous sweep prior to removing & make sure Casper, the friendly (white '92) Miata is whistle-clean before covering him/her/it.
I take a damp towel and wipe around the cover before I take it off the car, if the cover has been on the car more than two days. I also like to remove bird droppings more often as my parking space is near a tree. Can this cover be washed in a commercial washing machine on a gentle cycle without wearing the cover prematurely? Some companies say yes, some no? Another thing when removing the cover I try as best as possible to fold it if it's not too windy where the outside of the cover touches mostly the outside of the cover, as best as possible. That's why going over the cover with a damp towel before removing it will help against the possibility of a pebble or anything that could scratch the car. I know NEVER to place in a commercial dryer. I use Simple green to clean cover.
Oh my God you have to go through all that just to fold it up. How many hours of your life will be lost the folding up freaking car cover. Why don't they make them so they're easy to fold. And what about when they're wet?
Ridiculous! I have been using car covers for over 30 years and you never put them on the ground because they will get dirty and that will scratch your paint. So tell me how you're supposed to climb up on top of your car and kneel on the cover? Ridiculous! You fold your car cover on top of your car and you give up on ever getting it back in the original bag. That's just the way it is. And make sure your car is clean before you put the cover on. Otherwise the dirt will scratch the paint. This means you need to be very consistent on covering your car whenever it's parked for more than a couple of hours. I always watch the weather forecast and take my cover off before it rains. It sounds like a lot of work, but it only takes me about a minute to roll up my car cover and put it in the trunk.
No offense, but you would only use this technique if you have an old car and you don’t care about the paint. If you have a new car or a nice car, you absolutely would not put the cover on the ground.
