This great video gives me confidence to replace my own valve. Note that the original electrical connectors were bent by accident when disconnecting the water line (at time 2:40) so you probably shouldn't bend the connectors on the new valve.
I replaced the water inlet valve and that didn't fix the problem for me. I can see that water is not traveling up to the ice maker. Any suggestions for what to do next? Is there a way to test if the water inlet valve is working or if there is a problem with the connection where it is plugged in to the refrigerator?
You will need to test to see if you have power at the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If you have power there and no water comes into the unit then you will need to replace the valve. If you don't get power at the valve then your ice maker will need to be replaced.
Hi Aaron, sorry I'm so late to the game. I just finished the same repair, with the same result! Still leaked. I looked really close and figured out that the hose was cracked a tiny bit, right by the push-in valve. This was the clear (ish) hose, not the supply or the black. I cut off about 1/2" and reinstalled. No leak!
