Outstanding video. Appliance repair was going to charge me $501.00 to replace the valves. After I paid the $135 “diagnostic” fee, I got the part for $25.00 (they were going to charge $155.35 for the part) and I removed and replace it myself. I’m 73 and with the help of the video it was one of the easiest jobs I’ve ever done. Thank you!
Just did this repair last night with the help of this video. Seemed to fix my very slowly dripping water dispenser. It went smoothly, fairly easy repair. Cleaned the coils while I was back there which was also on my "to do" list. Thank you AppliancePartsPros!
Thank you for this Superior video that guided me to the replacement of the water valve for my ice maker. It was wonderful to have my ice maker working again after 9 months Thank you again! Rob in Charlotte, NC
If you don't have a water cut-off, or it's hard to get to, just remove the water filter inside the fridge. That will stop the water flow to the water inlet valve. And thanks for the video. You guys have helped me out several times.
Came home water was over the floor called repair man cost me $202 to change water valve , water was dripping from dispenser wish I saw your video next time I’ll do it myself order part from your website
Question: I just purchase a GE fridge from Lowes outlet with no manual etc etc. I just connected the existing copper line to a plastic hose hanging on the back of the fridge but is giving me a hammer noise when the water stop from the water dispenser. Do I have to connect my copper line to the plastic hose or I can connect the copper water supply directly to the fridge valve like I had it before on my other fridge (LG).. the noise is making me crazy… thank you..
I"m fixing mine now. The problem is a slow drip coming from the blue outlet hole that has no hose connected to it. My fridge has just an ice maker and no water dispenser and I'm pretty sure that when I opened the back of the fridge, there was an outlet hose connected to the red hole but not the blue one. Do fridges with no water dispenser have just one outlet coming from this inlet valve part? Or should there be hoses connected to the red and the blue holes?
I have a damaged fitting that goes from the filter housing to the inlet of that valve. It’s like a one piece molded line and ferrul. Do I have to replace the entire housing with lines or can I cut and splice a new line in with fitting?
Hi I'm wondering if I could possibly fix the water inlet valve if it is just plugged with dirt particles by blowing compressed air into outlet after it's removed then try hooking up loosely?
We're all about DIY John, so you could try to clean out your inlet valve. However, in my experience, if the water inlet valve is bad, it has failed and needs replacing. You could always check to see if the screens that prevent sediment from entering the valve are clogged, damaged, or missing, which could lead to sediment in the valve. As to the valve itselt, you can test it with a multimeter to see whether it's faulty, which could save you time trying to clean it. We offer free technical advice and diagnosis, so we'll be happy to talk you through testing the part and helping to confirm whether the valve is your problem. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. I"m wondering if I need to replace my hose or my inlet valve unit. I'm having a leak coming out between the hose and the coupler that tightens down the inlet hose to the valve. from your experience do you think the valve is the issue or the white plastic hose? I notice the hose has like a built in plastic washer... wondering if that wears out which means I would have to replace the entire hose.....
Hi, I replaced the inlet valve as shown in the video without any difficulty. However, when I pressed the water dispense button in the door no water came out. I thought there may be an air lock in the line so I held the button for two minutes to free the air lock. Still no water. What I did see though was an excessive amount of water on the floor. I am very sure all my line connections are secure. Is it possible the old line running from the inlet valve up to the water filter is defective? If so how do I access it to see it it is leaking. Sincerely, Art Payne
Hi, @1:47, I am putting a lot of pressure to pull those refrigerator lines out of the valve, but so far I am unable to do so. I am afraid I am going to break it. Is there ay trick to easily take them out?
I'm having the same issue. Water dispenser not working, but ice maker does! I replaced the Inlet Valve as in the video and also new filter, but still not water coming out of the water dispenser! :O What to try next?? PLEASE ADVISE.
nice demo. I am saddened to see the parts attached or the other parts are not cleaned having had the trouble to move the fridge, remove the panel etc. that is the way it goes I suppose
Hi, I have a GE Profile TFS28PBBA and need a video to instal the inlet valve, and the video for to level the refrigerator door. If you have parts for this model, please let me know how.
There are a few different water valves used on that model. You can go to our website and enter your appliance model number to view the parts breakdowns to be sure you get the correct part for your model and see if there are video for the parts you need. www.appliancepartspros.com/
HI - my water dispenser stopped working and I found the larger of the two tubes into the compression fittings (the blue side) was cracked at the bend, spraying water on the floor. I cut off the cracked part (maybe 1.5 inches) and inserted the tube back into the compression fitting, all works fine now. But I am concerned that the tube is now bent even more sharply and will just crack again. Can you recommend how to add an extension to the tube to lessen the bending stress - I would need some extra tubing and an in-line connector (need the diameter, etc)
did you get a reply? both of my pipes have snapped at the bend and there is not enough length to join them back up. I think i have to replace the whole length but can't find any info on that.
The refrigerator in the home where this was taken has a roach or insect problem. All that speckled dirt on the refrigerator is a sign that there are roaches. Roaches like water so perhaps this water valve was leaking and that was attracting the roaches along with something in the area (food or something).
