Let's take a look at the band 7 requirements and see exactly what the examiners are looking for. I'll tell you how to get a 7 in the IELTS Speaking Part 1.
The IELTS Speaking exam comes in 3 parts. In this class, we'll focus on part 1 and look at the official band descriptors for level 7. Once you know what the examiner is listening for, it's easier to give it to them.
We will analyse the structure of the speaking test and break down each of the assessment criteria in detail. Candidates are evaluated on their speaking skills in four areas: Coherence and fluency, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy and pronunciation.
Make sure you prepare for the IELTS speaking test so that you can get the highest score possible.

I find it you're a very skillful IELTS coach. I need confirmation from you about something I've been struggling with. The point is: in order to get a 7+score this is what I assume the examiners will be looking for: a variety of complex and compound sentences (that is the main feature assessors take into consideration, isn't it?) , a variety of tenses, a variety of modal verbs, a variety of passive and so on, as long as they're used accurately . So, I need to think in terms of variety when I refer to "grammatical.range", right? Another question: if I'm required to speak only in complex sentences to get a very high score, why would many teachers say I should be using simple and complex sentences equally?

Hi Aldo, thanks for your question. I think the key is to keep it as natural as possible. That means that sometimes your sentences will be simple and other times more complex. The challenge is to keep it natural whilst also demonstrating your range of grammar. Don't try to use structures that you aren't confident with. Hope that helps.

@@englishwithmrd When the band descriptor 8 says:"use a wide range of complex structures", what does that mean? That I need to speak mainly in complex sentences ,namely for most of the time -( like 80% of it ) and using few simple sentences or I need to use a variety of complex sentences using the same amount of simple and complex structures?
