I ramble about how to get a Formula Drift Pro License, Giving tips along the way. Link to FD Licensing series - www.formulad.co... Link to FD pro 2 - www.formulad.co... Link to FD pro 1 - www.formulad.com
you know there's not enough drivers out there that are real and honest about getting into professional Motorsports that's badass plus I'm excited for this season
These videos are great help! I'm trying to get my Pro2 license this year, just got top 8 in LSD rd 1 after getting top 8 in my first ever comp at LSD rd 5 last year! (dont get me wrong, I ditched pro MX 5 years ago to start building the car and practicing).. There are definitely parts of my driving I can improve on, but I feel like I need to get better at marketing myself to sponsors. I totally wouldn't mind a video that went more in depth on what sponsors want and maybe even tips on how to help promote current sponsors too. On another note, I'm so happy to see you in a Ford and I cant wait to see you shred with it all dialed in! good luck!! No offence to the other Ford guys, but I only liked them for their cars. I was a bit of a fan before you got the Mustang so now I feel much less biased actually rooting for the driver and not just the car! lol
I'm a 15 yo kid who wants to do fd for my career. I'm buying an s13 this summer and I'm gonna start working on it. This info did more for me than you know and I'm not intimidated if anything I'm even more excited and confident than before. Thank you very much
Used to be limited to street drifting came out to a lone star event and fell in love with course drifting hoping to make it an official career and your pretty inspiring man 💪 keep it up
Chelsea your such a humble dude bro.. Im really glad you make vids like this for guys like me who are familiar with racing but newer to drifting. I couldn't think of a better person that I would like to see get opportunists like the ones you have had recently. I cant wait to see what you can do with a major force to support you. This is my first fd season and you are the driver Im going to root for and since im new to the sport you will prob become my driver I follow in the sport. I just wanna say never change man and hopefully I cant meet you as osw in a few weeks. Im one of the founders of a virtual drift championship in assetto corsa. We just kicked off the series 4/1 and I do a lot of sim drifting with dan brocket and some smaller guys like taylor ray etc. Its kinda the way I live my dream right now, through vr sim drifting lol. I plan to use a/c and lfs to kinda learn the basics in drifting and a few of the pros that I have played with along the way have said Im clearly a natural. IM hoping thats true so that I dont destroy my first missile car lol. Any way we worked on osw to add it to our series in a/c and I met a few of the guys that work there and we had them test the track we built. Im hoping that they can hook me up and it give me a chance to get to meet you and Just ask you a few questions or just get the chance to say hello would be pretty cool. Anyway sorry to ramble man, just wanted to say I hope you never change man. Humble people like you always get what they deserve in the long run. Kepp up the hard work buddy and congrats on living the dream!!
I was thinking about this the other day! I'm just building a fun car to get started now, but it's nice to know the whole ladder. Big respect to you guys, really enjoying your stuff! Best of luck this year man
This is my dream! Hope to make an impression on you within the next few years! Keep a lookout for a red g35 I’ll be at every drift event in Florida I can make it to!
Rad video dude. Thanks for taking the time to share some of your knowledge about reaching the pro ranks with us. Would you consider going over the buisiness side of succeeding in drifting such as building and promoting yourself/your program and sponsorship proposals? I always enjoy listening to Cory on Maximum Drift Cast speak on the subject and would be interested in hearing any advise or tips you might have. Thanks dude and good luck in Long Beach!
Yoh Chelsea! Can you do an update on this information, for new people who want to do pro am or prospec then eventually pro 1? Do you think the simple set up, will be enough to run pro am with people making bigger powers now?
I can definitely appreciate this video, I have done my research but the information is spotty and I am looking to make the next step by next year. Thank you Chelsea! definitely a thumbs up.
Great explanation! I haven't looked into it but I feel like it would be hard to make the step and get financial backing from companies when your at the point when your "good" but not pro.
I'm starting this journey... With a cheap sn95 Mustang to start with and learn on (e36's, rx-7's, and s-chassis cars are non existent around me) I look forward to the opportunity of possibly getting to drive with you sometime in the next couple of years at grassroots events
Awesome vid Chelsea !!! the tips are gold! , you come off super down to earth and chilled on camera. personally I appreciate the insights you give us of what its like to have climbed the ladder ! If I was to ask one thing , I was wondering how did you manage to fund your career at the beginning. Like before the sponsors spotted you . Would be interesting to hear if you don't mind sharing. As always Mucho love from Wales ! good luck with this season!
D1NZ is considered a "ProAm" level event? Goodluck with winning one of those events with a close to stock setup. It's more of a Pro2 / Top 32 Pro1 level competition btw
Chelsea DeNofa so would you say focusing on car setup (not power) is something that is important to somewhat focus on in pro-am? IE good coils vs entry level stuff, and upgraded control arm vs oem, etc? (yes I'm aware that I'm late to the comments lol)
Thanks so much for posting all of these videos im really enjoying them! currently training to go pro and cant wait to meet you one day! P.S. if you had the skills and financial backing could you run a 450-500hp car in pro-am? or would it be more beneficial to your learning to keep it lower knowing my goal is pro1?
Do realize, though, most of the guys are in their early 20's, and say things like, "asuh dude" "squaaaad" and "that's fire". And "Wanna bang?" doesn't mean they want to get in your pants. Usually.
TJ Dauntless In AZ, our guys run Vegas Drift, though we had one Josh do Just Drift at Willow Springs last season. The Vegas Drift guys also come down to host a pre-Pro-Am (Pre-Am?) event, IFO's drifting, and two ProAm rounds in AZ - so, our scenes are pretty intertwined. Though I think we're little spoon, in that relationship :)
Just wondering, how would you get paid? I don't want to sound greedy and I wouldn't be in it for the money, but you gotta make money somehow. Who would pay you and how would you keep making more money? Is it enough to sustain your well being even if you're not winning much?
Money can't buy my love, guys who say that crap get the lariat 3 times. Tbh i never cared about money till i got into cars and drifting "an dth eg oo dku shhhhhh" ^.^ pretend theres no spaces in the " "
Ken Block brought me into this world. Mad Mike showed me the type of chariots I'd wanna listen to. You have helped me choose a path I can see myself embracing and excelling at. Thank you 🫡
How do you feel about Dirk Stratton going to be the first Corvette to be in US PRO? I personally and stoked due to the fact that now all the American muscle cars are on the board now!
Warren262 Oh shit! I didn't know there already was a better in pro before XD Just shows you how recently I have been paying full attention to FD. I wonder why he would stay in Pro2. He took the Pro license at Phoenix when I saw him in person.
So I’m in the middle of building a drift car right now I’m starting off with a 2006 Infiniti G 35 sedan a couple people are telling me about the GK angle kit but others are telling me about the mantis by Fdf What are your recommendations? I’m going to be attending your school at the end of October for two days as a first time drifter
How do you feel about Dan Burkett deciding to go to pro1? I feel like he's going to get fucking destroyed. Curious to see how everything turns out for him.
What does a good team consist of ? How do you gather a team and what should they look like (in terms of development and experience) ? just so i can officially learn what is appropriate or recommended for the pro 2 and pro 1 stages of drifting. And is it okay to have a team in a Pro-Am series ? is it needed ? or not so much needed until pro 2 or pro 1 ?
Well I just realized I probably never will be in FormulaD at all. I have to live in the US for years to maybe have a chance to be in Pro 1, drifting is pretty unknown here in Norway. We had 2 drivers in Pro 1 2016 season and Aasbo won it in 2015, still almost nobody knows about drifting.
Hey Chelsea I have a 323ci I used to start drifting and am looking into getting more power. What would be the best way and easiest to do that? via engine swap or supercharger?
Are there other series that qualify as a "feeder" directly to pro1? Since James Deane and his teammate are very accomplished drivers with multiple podium finishes/championship wins in other series, can they automatically qualify for Pro1?
I'm a 19yo and I've been addicted since my first ride along in Tuercks street car. I have purchased a 90 NA 300zx with 96xxx orginal miles on it. I'm looking for steering modifications wondering if you had any hindsight for more angle
