This worked perfectly, Ill say the hardest part was the right screw underneath the radio, very hard to get to. Other than that it was a very easy job and I recommend buying a trim tool set from your local parts store so you dont damage the trim when removing. Thanks Roman

Hey I know it's been a minute since you've uploaded this but. I'm looking to do this exact same thing with my HRV 2017 EXL. Would it essentially be the same process, - the part you talked about the disassembly of the pilot and installation. Just buy it for a newer year and install?

I did this today and it worked👍 Here were my key points: The screws that he mentions that screw in underneath the actual radio are VERY hard to remove due to lack of space. A ratchet would not work on the right hand side due to lack of space. After much frustration and even buying a flexible drill attachment for a socket I was able to do it. The flexible attachment was not strong enough to get the right screw off, but I realized with a socket bit on my drill I could just barely wedge it in from underneath and unscrew it with the drill. The other thing is that the radio DOES NOT easily slide out. You really need to take a piece of thin plastic and go around the edges to help get the tabs coming out. After that, you have to pull the unit out with considerable force. It will feel like it's going to break something. Final thing is that Honda wasn't helpful at first. First guy gave me 15 codes, but the second time I called she gave me two to try. The first one didn't work and the next one did. They really just need the serial number of the radio, and they record your vin just for records.

Hi, I understand you need to swap the radio for the same model EXL for EXL but what if I have a EXL with Honda sensing, would I need the touring radio?

Can you think of any known issue if I get a 2016 Pilot EX-L Navigation unit that has the navigation already? Or does it need to be from a 2017 model for any specific reason?

I own 2016 pilot EX-L with Honda Sensing, If I but the part form 2017 Honda pilot EX-L model will that impact any of the Honda sensing features as the settings for Honda sensing are set in the radio unit?

So I have a 2016 HRV, but my trim level the ex doesnt have the apple car play, so should i just go the next trim level up for this? I'm thinking if I get the 2017 of the ex level it still wont have apple play

Your video has given me hope! Honda dealer is telling me this is impossible. I called lkq and they don’t seem to be able to find the replacement unit. Would you have a moment to help me find the unit on their site, or anywhere?? I need Elite trim level.

Where did you find the part? What was it listed as? We have the same exact car and and have been wanting CarPlay for some time now. Also was it easy to install and do the side buttons for volume and stuff work. As well as the wheel commands?

We just got a 2016 Pilot EX-L and I was pretty bummed when a friend who own's a car audio shop said there aren't any wiring harnesses that will let you keep steering wheel controls and camera functionality on an aftermarket stereo with CarPlay. I just ordered a, "Info-GPS-TV Screen EX-L (DISPLAY SCREEN), ROOF MOUNTED (ENTERTAINMENT), ELITE (US MARKET)" from LKQ. I'll post a follow-up comment noting how it works. Our Pilot doesn't have roof mounted entertainment, and I have no idea what Elite refers to.

I found and installed a unit from a 2017 Elite into my 2016 Elite. I'm having a few issues & I'm looking for advice: (1) Compass is frozen & turn-by-turn not displaying (factory NAV) in instrument panel; (2) Nothing from Apple CarPlay displaying in instrument panel; (3) SiriusXM reception has become spotty. Hi, After watching your video I was able to find a 2018 honda pilot radio that I purchased and had installed today. The screen came up and I called Honda to get the code. I told him it was made by Clarion for Honda so he was able to get a different serial code but none of the pins worked. Unfortunately after several tries with the tech folks on the phone the screen eventually turned off and has not come back on. He told me to take it to a dealer and have them do a hard reset. They disconnected the battery for 10 mins but still nothing on the screen.Is there anything else I can try?

Successfully installed 2018 EX unit into 2016 EX-L w/o nav w/o rear entertainment. Had to call honda (40 min wait) to get anti-theft code.
