I just started watching your videos and have learned a lot about my hair. You speak the language very similar to BGC and it works. I have discovered I was NOT letting the water run on my hair long enough prior to shampooing. Since I let the water run for 4 -5 minutes what a difference it has made. My hair has been more hydrated ( stays hydrated) and the Innersense products are working along with UFD. Keep teaching us ….I love it 😊 God Bless 👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾

If I have medium to coarse strands, is it possible to use a single gel or will I need two? Also are there botanical gels with strong hold? So far I’ve only tried the aunt Jackie’s flaxseed no shrink gel and while my hair feels nice, the hold isn’t anywhere near what I want. The only gels I’ve ever used that hold my curls are synthetic ones but those flake really badly after a day or two so I only use those for sleek hairstyles. I definitely prefer definition over volume (I actually dislike volume) so I’d like something with strong hold but I can’t find that. I don’t mind layering
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
Texture can be just one factor in how many gels to use. For ex. Someone with fine strands, low density, silky surface texture may be able to use 1 botanical gel in a dry climate and it’s strong hold. But someone with medium to coarse texture, medium density, a humid climate, and coarse surface texture- 1 botanical gel is just the base of the stylers to use to build strong hold. Most botanical gels are humectant, so strong hold is going to be dependent on many factors not just 1. Flaxseed has softer hold than aloe. Synthetic gels offer stronger hold, yes. Try using a botanical one on strands for the hydration benefits and topping it with a synthetic one to build hold. Set with heat for best results. Product examples can be found in Shop My Favorites. stan.store/CassidyMarieHair

@@cassidymariehair ok thank you! Yea I live in a humid area, for sure and my density is medium. My surface texture is rough I think. I just purchased your $10 guide and now I think my technique was also a factor in my results. I’m so happy you replied

What would I do if I wanted to keep my hair in all back or straight back cornrows for the week? Would I still use a gel after shampoo and conditioner? Or I can do the cornrows with just freshly washed and conditioned hair? Thanks, love your videos.
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
You can do cornrows with freshly washed and conditioned hair. If you want more hold or control, a styling foam is optional. The Doux Mousse Def is strong hold. And the Design Essentials Avocado & Almond is medium hold.

hey girl love the video! do you recommend intersence or Ag more for beginners?
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
It isn’t about being a beginner, it is about what your hair needs. Shampoo is chosen based on how often you wash your hair, what you put on your hair weekly, and how deep of a cleaning you need. Conditioner is chosen based on texture, how fine or coarse your strands are. And stylers based on your style choices and how much hold you want. Check out my Tik Tok for product and hair knowledge to help you know more before choosing the right products for your hair elements.

You don't use a leave-in? Thanks for the tutorial!!
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
I don’t use leave in when setting curls into a wash n go that lasts. Leave in is a styling product that doesn’t offer hold. Since I conditioned already, we already sealed in moisture. So I go right in on the clean wet hair with botanical gel so my tight curly guest can get 5-7 days out of their wash n go. Thanks for your question 🤎

woud this work for more loose curls (2c/3a)? also i noticed the ag balance has acv in it - I thought that would be more clarifying, no?how do you determine the difference between clarifying and all purpose? definitely looking into implementing this; my wash days are currently 2 hours long and this is so much simpler than what im doing now!
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
This can work for any curl type. You can change the styling technique to fit your styling goals (use a clean styling brush to smooth and brush curls in an upward motion to simply enhance your natural curl, not create one) as far as products go- AG Balance is an all purpose formulation of shampoo. Although it has acv inside, it’s very well formulated and balanced. It gives a deep clean, with out being clarifying. Clarifying shampoos will have a higher ph, and say on the bottle it is clarifying, such as Malibu Undoo Goo. This would be used to remove build up.

Is the Camille rose curl maker a good botanical in your opinion? I believe it has a harder hold than the uncle funkies product. Also what does it mean when you say botanical gel? Is that the same thing as a normal hard hold gel for styling? I also noticed you used 2 gels. Any particular reason, is it because the uncle funkies is a lighter gel that defines curls and you wanted to go in with a harder hold gel to seal the deal? Is using just one styling gel with hard hold okay? I personally use the mielle pomogrante and honey custard whicbshapes and defined my curls and then go in with wetline xtreme gel which gives that hold, since the mielle custard does not offer that. Is that a simailr process to what’s going on here?
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
Botanical gel is a styling gel with plant derived ingredients as the main ingredients. Humectants such as aloe vera, glycerin, etc. Styling products are on a spectrum of how much hold that they offer. So if I want more hold, I’m going to layer 1-2 or 2- 3 botanical gels and set with heat for maximum longevity. Botanical gels help to hold water into our hair for a longer period as opposed to gels that has plastics as ingredient bases. Camille rose curl maker, has a heavier hold then Uncle Funkys because it is denser in oil. That doesn’t mean it will offer more hold, but definitely more weight. I will be doing a review of this product on my TikTok this week.

Do you wash your scalp on the first or second wash? Also how do you do the smoothing technique when cleaning the scalp?
@cassidymariehair

I cleanse scalp during each shampoo. As you smooth your hair clean hold with one hand and take the opposite to reach under to your scalp while your hair is elongated. I have an example of me demonstrating on my Tik Tok.

Is it always best to use 2 products and not 3? I use I create volume gel? Then do I use quiet calm curl control or do it the other way? I also have the I crest hold but I think I’ll try the first 2 I mentioned together I’m just confused by the order of how to do it.
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
Using 2 vs 3 stylers depends on our hair elements, desired end result or hold, lifestyle & climate. I’m not sure your desired end result by choosing that combo, but if you are going to use those stylers start with quiet calm curl control, then a gel.

Can Mielle's honey ginger styling gel be considered a botanical gel? Or at least one with strong hold?
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
The Mielle Honey Ginger Styling Gel is a mix of botanicals and synthetics. So it would be a strong hold for someone with very fine strands. But may only be a base gel for someone with medium or coarser to start to build the hood and pair it with something stronger on top.

What is the difference between pure harmony and color awakening? Is it wasteful to have both?
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
Pure Harmony and Color Awakening are both all purpose formulations of shampoo. Color Awakening is more gentle. It wouldn’t be wasteful but the more practical option would be to choose pure harmony or color awakening and then also pick up the hydrating cream hair bath shampoo. This is a moisturizing formulation of shampoo, which can be followed up by an all purpose formulation. Hope this helps!

@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
@@MookieBaylah Living an active lifestyle goes into how we have to care for our hair. Malibu Undoo Goo is great clarifying shampoo for when build up arises, vs doing it on a schedule. Always follow up with a moisturizing formulation of shampoo. I do not think that is too often.

Great video! Would you mind explaining why a product such as a botanical gel or foam helps keep water from evaporating? Doesn’t the water evaporate from the strand when the hair is dried?
@cassidymariehair
@cassidymariehair Год назад
Thanks! When a film forming styler that offers hold is used it slows down the rate at which water evaporates. Hair can be dry to the touch but still retain moisture inside the strand. Water evaporates fully around day 4-7. Which is why washing every 7-10 days at least keeps moisture in our hair + keeps a clean scalp as well.
