This guy felt like an Elden Ring boss. Fights like this helped to really understand how the game works. And I barely got to use his summon after I got it lol
Using Yuffie and spamming Doppelgänger and Windstorm from range was the only way I was ever able to beat Odin, even at minimum power, and it still took a half dozen attempts and getting extremely lucky with a Bahamut finisher just as he was about to cast Zantetsuken at the end. Once he gets lower than like 50% HP he starts using these really long combo attack chains where if you don't manage to dodge it you get hit like 15 times and it almost instantly triggers his Gjallarhorn. I really hate these random and sudden huge difficulty spikes in Rebirth.
A lot of bad advice and poor guides going around so I really appreciate how in depth you went here! The All Father has been rocking me so I’m gonna try these strats when I go for it again tonight
Thanks you are the only real guide that actually works, all the other ones are keep telling me to use Tifa and aerith and they both just get demolished
Small word of advice to anyone who has been on the ball with Chadly's requests: Make sure you have made 3 Protective Boots. I can't remember which map they unlock in, but Transmute yourself a full set of these so you can ignore the Stop Spell entirely. Given that the only other recommendation for accessories I have seen has been Revival Earrings, which are basically useless in this fight, it is either the Boots or Malboro Orbs. And given that you WANT to spam status effect spells anyway...
Thanks for this. I hardly play Yuffie. On my second play though, I’m going to use the characters I didn’t for the first. But it only took me 3 fights to win after this info. The last one was epic. I was only able to get reraise on Barret and Yuffie before Odin used his kill move. Then Yuffie was the last character alive. Odin was close to death, I was using the ranged attacks like mad, I was close to death and tried to heal myself and of course he jumped on me. I thought I was dead, had a sliver of life, I rolled away trying to get as far as possible to use ranged attacks, then he started to use that kill move again. I stood there for a second looking at it like oh come on, you got to be kidding me. I thought it was over, I was in such a panic I used a ranged attack and hit melee as soon as I tossed it so I was in the air hitting nothing. Right before he use it I was close enough to hit him 1 time with a melee and he died lmao.
@@DirectGamingYTfuck that. You dont need him lmao. I beat the game without. Im not bothering with a summon thats near impossible to get if you cant dodge like a damn pro. 🙄
I felt the need to come back here to validate this approach. I beat Odin after the 2nd attempt in under ten minutes using this strategy. I can’t explain it, haha. Needless to say that I promptly saved my progress, haha.
I seriously don’t understand how to do this I do exactly what you say and he gives the warning without me ever even getting hit. Constant spamming square and using deprotect with yuffie…playing on easy too. I’ve probably tried close to 100 times
You can't just use normal attacks and Deprotect. I'm pretty sure status effects do nothing to prevent his Zantetsuken if it's being cast on him when he's already under the effect of that status effect. What you need to do is spam attack abilities as quickly and frequently as possible. You're basically playing a game of tug-of-war with him. Whenever you aren't hitting him with attack abilities and especially when you're getting hit by him, an invisible bar is making progress towards him using his ultimate. Whenever you land attack abilities on him, that invisible bar goes down. Even if you dodge every attack he throws at you, if you aren't using attack abilities against him then that bar is still going to be rising. The only strategy I found that actually worked was to use Yuffie as my main. Use Doppelgänger at the start of the fight to give you a clone and double your attacks, then throw your shuriken, build ATB and spam Windstorm from range. Every time you use Windstorm it'll return your shuriken to you, so throw it out again, spam attacks to build ATB and then continue using Windstorm. While doing this, I had my two other party members re-casting disempowerment status effects on him whenever they fell off, or throwing the occasional heal if I failed to dodge. If the clone disappears, cast Doppelgänger again. Beyond that, just keep trying to dodge his spear throws and charges, and cast your most powerful summon as soon as you're able (I used Bahamut).
Yeah i think they patched it. so using only Yuffie doesn't work any more. It did not for me at least. Although i do agree having Yuffie in your party still makes this fight a lot easier. Dodging and parrying using atb abilities switching between team members and than use there sync abilities did the trick for me. Odin has some hidden meter that counts how many atb and sync abilities you are using during the fight and how often you got hit. if this hidden bar goes up he does his one shot bullshit move. Also be aware of the handcuffs. If your active party member is handcuffed you should switch to another as Odin immediately counters their attacks. in the end got out of the fight with only Yuffie alive but i got it. I still don't like this fight as having some sort of hidden meter is just bullshit.
@7:54 What a waste of that stagger opportunity. Odin’s been kick my ass in a way that nothing else in FFVII ever has. Whether that’s in the the original, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus(obviously), or even Remake, and all of Rebirth. It’s on par with the Replica Data super boss fights in Kingom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III. I haven’t even attempted to fight the summons on Gilgamesh’s Island because of it. Though that’s with me not having a strategy. Even with a Strategy I can’t beat the all the Replica Data fights KH.
Yeah cause its so fucking easy right. NOT. The easiest parts are the minigames surrounding the intel stones. No matter what i try he always uses the one hit. Its stupid. I love the fucking game but damn even on easy mode hes near impossible
I just skipped Odin. I want to get on with the story so I can finish it and never go back to this mess ever again. I so wanted to love this game but it's basically just one FU after another to the player.

He's a different animal than the other Summons simply because of how he acts. Yes it does get SLIGHTLY easier. But keep in mind that his ultimate still one shot kills you.
