I don’t know if it’s a bug or not, but you don’t need a research kit if you check the box to automatically salvage the items as you craft them. Additionally, if you do have a research kit in your inventory, it will not deplete the charges

I tested this literally now now, and I can confirm you're right! Most likely its a bug though and will be fixed soon

Barbaric Helms have been a consistent method for at least a year. A good T5, mithril, and silk sink.

I crafted 3000+ mithril earrings for the 18000 Research Notes I needed. 3000 for the "precursor" armour set and 15000 for a set of the legendary itself. Cost me upwards of a 100 gold. Not only was it the cheapest method I know, but required a relatively low amount of clicking.

I use methods 2 and 3, which means I am always happy when an ascended armour or weapon chest drops for me. I love the way you're so direct in your videos, drives home the points.

if you have 125 in cooking you can cook pepper steak for about 7-8 gold you can get 500 research notes. all you need is 500 slabs of red meat, 500 bell pepper from a karma vendor in black citadel and 500 chili pepper. it may not be cheapest but can be cheaper then the potions depending on tp price.

another Tipp: If you want to to level a crafting mastery and you don't want to sell all of the things you crafted you can salvage them with a research kit. When EoD came out, I started to level all crafting disciplines to lv 500 and I had ~12K research notes after that. I don't know if its cost efficient but sop I got two thinks done at once, never hat do think about research notes since...

@@xGuiders I don't think it is. It only saves time because I donn't need to think about research notes until about a few months if I keep spending them at my current rate.
