how to achieve RGB lighting effect on a motherboard with no ARGB header. hub style ARGB controller link: www.amazon.com/Vetroo-Control... PWM splitter link: www.amazon.com/Splitter-Inter...
This is really helpful. I bought an aio cooler and apparently didn't make enough research and my motherboard gigabyte h310m h 2.0 didn't comes with an ARGB pins. Thanks a lot!
@@hongshit6632 3 months late i know, would depend on the amps that the fans are pulling and what the connector you are using is rated too as you can fry things if you have to many
If I get a hub-style ARGB controller, isn''t it supposed to be somehow connected to the motherboard in order to be able to control the speed of the fans ? (assuming that the hub comes with this feature)
Thank you so much for this because i really thought i won't be able to have rgb on my pc. I appreciate you, earned a sub. Btw any recomendations for just argb controller. (on a budget btw)

Hey i have Taichi Z390 and my motherboard has RGB slots 3 pin and 4 pin, and also an a software to control the color, can you tell me which RGB strips to use?
got a good deal on a pre owned MSI B520m-a pro. No rgb/argb headers. My fans can be daisy chained for both ARGB and PWM. In theory I should just have to buy a cheap ARGB controller such as the DS Mini ARGB PC Fans Controller Kit and daisy chain the ARGB connectors. As well I should just be able to daisy chain my PWM connectors from the fans directly to my sys fan header on mobo and skip buying the PWM controller. Am I correct? Appreciate the straight forward explanation on the argb.
Great video but i do have a question on the "Get an ARGB hub that offers both ARGB and PWM control", you mentions fans will plug into ARGB hub and the hub into SATA for power. Hows do you use the splitter for PWM control when all fans are plugged into the ARGB hub?
I tried bunch of hubs but none of them offer PWM control unfortunately. I just chain my pwm fans the same way I chain my argb. But instead of chaining all fans together I just chain 2 or 3 max then plug them into the motherboard headers that I have available. If you have at least 3 fan headers then you can give each header 2 fans, so a total of 6 you can connect with pwm control. If don't have enough headers then you might have to power up some fans through the hub/sata/molex. it's not a big deal. Some fans will just run 100% speed all the time. Just don't connect more than 3 fans in one header.
i've been wondering for a while now but can you connect all the argb 5v 3pin connectors to a argb hub. and then connect the power through sata and then use a sata to 5v 3pin to power the hub would that work? i wanna try it but if i screw it up it'll be quite a pricey mess.
Great video! Two questions though. I got ASRock B650, i got a case (NZXT Flow H5 RGB) It has 3 RGB fans, i can just connect them to the ARGB controller and they will work right? AND I'm planning on buying an NZXT CPU Cooler which also has RGB. Will the RGB on it work? Or should i get a non-RGB one? Thanks a lot!
Motherboard, pc case and cpu cooler they all have separate argb controllers but you only need one. Buying rgb case and rgb cpu cooler will make things more complicated for you. Get pc case with no argb fans and cpu cooler with no argb fans. Then Buy as many argb fans as you need and daisy chain everything from Motherboard's argb. You can also use an argb connector hub for better wire management but you don't really need to. And for cpu cooler; just replace its stock fans to argb fans that you purchased and boom. You have all argb fans from same company and they all syncs up the same way.
i have a gigabyte b450m ds3h motherboard and it has 4 pin sys fan slot, and the ARGB fan i bought has a 6 pin female (12v), what kind of controller do i need to make it work ?
@@coolStranger516 $23 for a 12v to 5v converter $35 for a pack of 5/6 argb fans/w controller ain't that bad. some argb with 3 fans kits are like $41 alone.
@@pandassudsnshine4125 I had this 3pack aigo argb + pwm fans that I got for 18 bucks from Amazon and simple argb controller was 7 bucks from ebay....working good so far...but a brand name argb fans like Corsair would be more expensive tho..
12v to 5v converters allow you to plug argb fans but do not let you have argb control, only solid RGB. So it defeats the purpose of the converter for non 5v motherboards
Hey do you think the argb hub can work with other argb products? I have a waterblock from my AIO that has argb but I don’t have any headers on my mobo.
I have got the ag400 BK. the fan work but the rgb not I have bought the JZK 5V 3 PIN ARGB Hub with housting from amazon. I connected with sata supply and the 3 pin on the hub but no rgb How come?
Tks for the video. I still have a doubt: I bought 3 pin 5v fans, but my mobo only have 4 pin 12v. I know I need and adapter for rgb, but can these fans work without RBG for now?
please help i tried the chain link method but my fans started smelling like there was something wrong but i didn't connect any 4 pin females to 3 pin males i don't know whats wrong now
My case came with the hub style and all my fans are plugged in and turn on but it doesn’t come with a controller and it has a argb input where you plug into the motherboard but my motherboard doesn’t have one what should I do the hub style has a argb Input where you connect to the motherboard but again my motherboard doesn’t have one
I'm using a msi B550 a pro motherboard and it has two ARGB headers on it and my question is, what is the maximum capacity or quantity of fans that i can connect to my ARGB fan header? (fan header is not a problem just the ARGB header). thank you 😊
You can use as many fans as you want. You motherboard may have only two argb headers but you can only use one argb header and daisy chain multiple fans just from that one header.
@@coolStranger516 Thank you for your quick response. I was having a hard time researching this issue because I was planning to daisy chain 3 fans and connect them to one of the argb headers and daisy chain 6 fans and connect them to the second argb header, but I wasn't sure if it's safe to connect more than 3 fans to it. I have a question, though you mentioned that I can only use one argb header. Will the second argb header be disabled if I use the first one? (For context, I want to use AIO 360mm and 6 case fans.)
Is there a problem if i don’t connect my argb cable? I dont have the connector on my mb or the controller, i am planning on buying one in the future but in the meantime i want to use the fan only
Please help me 😅. I want: Basically i want to control the ARGB with the software and sync the fans with the other components, such graphics card and RAM, and not through the controller control. The problem: My motherboard dont have the 3 pin ARGB conector, just 4 pin for the fans. My motherboard: Kllisre B760 DDR4 LGA 1700. (AliExpress) My fans: Aigo-z12 120mm (Aliexpress)
i dont have argb fans . i have rgb corsair sp120 whihcv i realy like !!! i got the thermoright notte 360 cooler which has argb connection i bought an adapter but it still isnt working do i have to enable it in bios or download software
Not sure what kind of adapter you bought but argb connector needs an argb controller or argb header on motherboard. If your motherboard has argb headers then you have to download the software from your motherboard manufacturer but for argb controller you don't need to download anything. Your rgb corsair sp120 has rgb connector they are different from argb connector.
i have a question..I bought some ARGB fans, but I don't think they have a 4-pin 5V female connection, it only seems to have a 3-pin 5V female connection. my motherboard is an asus with aura sync and has 4 pin RGB fan slot. I connected all the fans to a hub, without a controller, but the hub output has a simple 12v 4 pin connection, which therefore does not enter the RGB fan, so the fans are spinning but the LEDs are off. if I try to connect them both together via the 3-pin 5v connection and then on the hub, should they turn on?
4 pin is 12v and 3 pin 5v. 4 pin 12v caused some voltage problem in the past so they changed it to 3 pin 5v. This is the standard now. If your motherboard only has 4 pin rgb; 3 pin argb fans won't work. You just need to get a simple argb controller to fix your issue.
@@coolStranger516 thanks for reply, I ordered a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter, argb to rgb, at least for the LEDs I think it should work. the fans can be connected in series, when the last fan is connected to the adapter and then to the motherboard, do you think I can also control the lights? thx
@@chillandmusic8608 now you would be able to control the light with aura sync software. But you should have Bought an argb controller instead. It would have cost you the same. There is a reason you don't see manufacturer's using 4 pin rgb in new motherboards anymore. The industry switched to 3 pin for rgb needs.
Is there a way we could connect the argb to a case with a front panel LED switch/button? Or do these types of cases generally come with an RGB controller? 🤔
@@coolStranger516 Yeah, I went back and looked at a few cases with integrated LED buttons and it looks like most don't come with ARGB controllers (possibly with the exception of Musetex cases or the other popular semi-off brand RGB everywhere cases). But, I would imagine if they have an LED button, they would have an ARGB connector to utilize it. But then, without a motherboard ARGB header, you're in complicated territory. No full-case RGB control. Probably just limited to fans, LED strips, and possibly a CPU cooler LED.
Sir i have a question My motherboard (b660m kd4 ) it has only 2 fan one for cpu and one case 4pin . But my case is Argb (endory ventum 200 Arb) it has also a hub with pmw argb so where should i plug this hub ? 😢
Cpu fan goes with cpu. And I am not sure about hub. I need to look at it. If the hub has pwm and argb you can connect all your fans to it and your fans should run. But if the hub is not connected to the motherboard somehow then you won't be able to control fan speed. They will always run at 100%. You should get a pwm fan splitter extention cable and connect it to your case fan header and connect all your other fans to the extention cable.
I know this is late but i have a question. I have the montech air 100 case but my motherboard doesnt have rgb or argb headers. The case comes with a argb hub and it has a sata and argb 3 pin cable. I connected the sata cable to my psu and the fans are lightning up but they wont spin. My question is if i can just buy the argb controller that you showed in the video beginning and connect it to the argb controller from my hub then to sata from psu
since the fans are lighting up that means that case fan hub already have a argb controller built into it. The fans should have another separate cable with pwm fan headers; those fan headers need to be connected to the motherboard. Now, the big question here is what type fan do you have?
@@coolStranger516 @coolStranger516 Basically all the fans are connected to a controller and theres a sata and argb cables to connect to psu and motherboard. I've connected the sata cable to my psu and I can change the colors/argb with my reset switch on the case. They're 5v fans that need 3 headers to connect
@@robiscd_ao I am not sure what kind of fan controller they are using. Can yoy post a picture of it with the connectors somewhere. Then send me the link of that picture
I have looked at some of reviews from minetech air 100 case. You may just have faulty fans. You don't need to buy argb controller with this set up. You should be able to change colors with your the switch on your case.
I have a deepcool sc700 argb hub with 3pins, I have connected the sata power cable and the fans are turning but the lights doesn't turn on. My motherboard doesn't have any rgb headers (hence I'm here). am I missing something or did I bought the wrong one? Thanks!
Power connector and argb connectors are separate. You fans should have argb connector that also needs to be connected to the hub. And finally you need a argb controller if your motherboards doesn't have any. Most Hubs are good for wire management. They don't produce argb colors.
you need this... www.ebay.com/itm/364579061634?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=amn8lx-urxs&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=d4F5lZ3AQF2&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I tried that but sometimes hub just works as a hub for wiring control. And sometimes the fan speed control doesn't work with hub. That's why I always get argb controller & fan splitter separate.
@@coolStranger516 i connected a 4 pin splinter to my motherboard SYS FAN and i connected a argb controller into SATA and into the 3 pin argb connectors that are leftover on my fans but as soon as i turn it on it starts smelling like plastic melting but i don't know whats wrong i connected all 3 pin to 3 pin and the rgb also doesn't work properly
Ok my asus h110 doesn’t have rgb but I have an nzxt h5 elite with argb fans preinstalled in it it has its own rgb controller but only the fans come on no rgb lights come on and I don’t know what to do lol
Sorry..it will not.. but the controller should have lots of built-in RGB functions.. and I would also advise against using any RGB software; they're usually very buggy...
Damn I should have have bought cheap RGB fans but no my smart ass decided to buy argb fans whithout researching that I don't even have 5 pin whatever So jokes on me

thank you great demon strate but if i have a case that i can control only the fans colors by pressing a button so now i can't control these fans from the apps that u can download so all i need is how can i put all of the pices on one fade rgb color like rams and fans and gpu cooler all of them change colers at the same time and thank you
Your case has a built-in ARGB controller and it's not gonna sync with a software controller...disconnect the case fan's argb header from case's built-in controller and put into your motherboard's argb controller... If not possible just buy a new fans with argb+pwm options...these fans are darn cheap now....and Software controller only works with motherboard headers... So in order for everything to sync the same way it must be connected to the motherboard....
is there a way powering argb without a controller? i have a msi watercooler and i just dont have a header nor a contoller. they are little expensive on my country and i dont want to buy a controller.
@@lertmtheaux you can get fake argb fans. They are just led but looks like rgb. But you won't be able to change colors. Another way to get those argb fans with remote control. They run on sata power. So you would be able to change colors but no the fan speed.
Hi i am planning to get a case kolink citadel mesh rgb case. this case has at the back of it something like an argb panel , a remote controler and 3 argb fans. so here is my question, my motherboard does not have neither rgb not argb header. during the build where do i plug these fans and if the answer is the rear panel of the box(mini hub), where do this afterwards get connected ? to 4 pin motherboard connector or psu? and if that sthe case what kind of control and result should i expect? hope i did not confuse you and that i was clear
Alrighty. I took a look at the case on the Amazon website. From what I understand from the pictures; this hub is a type of all in one controller. That is why they provide you with the remote. You have to connect the pwm female connector from the hub to one of your fan headers in the motherboard and connect all fans to the hub. Also connect all argb fan cables to the hub. But this hub needs to be powered up by something. There is usually a SATA power connector that connects to the PSU. If none there should be some other connector that power it. And they provided one extra argb cable that runs from the hub and connects to the motherboard argb header but you don't have to use it if your motherboard has no argb. You should be able to control the aRGB lighting with the remote because the hub has built-in aRGB in it.
Yes if the ram has RGB built into it like gskills or every other RGB ram it will work. It will just display with the default rainbow colors but you can use something like signal RGB or open RGB to control the rams RGB, but it will most definitely work. You only need RGB headers on the Motherboard to control things like fans with RGB, aio with RGB or an RGB strip. Even then the RGB headers are only really used to sync up all RGB devices. I recommend getting a good RGB controller like cooler master RGB Controller it uses standard 3pin 5v connectors and signal RGB will recognize it along with your ram and you can sync everything together. Again you do not need RGB headers for RGB to work on peripherals such as ram, GPU, keyboard and mouse ECT...
My ARGB controller has a a cord that plugs into an ARGB port. Wtf? What is the point of the hub of it has sata, ARGB, and PWM, if it still needs the ARGB port… also my fans are molex.
@@coolStranger516 I just found out that I was conned into getting a hub that was not actually a controller. Cause You know no one ever explains the difference or is truthful…
@@coolStranger516 that and my fans are also apparently rainbow. I plan to get ARGB ones later. That comes with a RGB hub with a built in controller. It’s 36 bucks off Newegg and you get 6 fans too as well as a remote.
