I have proximal hamstring tendinopathy that starts up every now and then. I play soccer every weekend and had finally gotten rid of it by adjusting my running stride. Well last week I forgot all my adjustments and it started up again. And the next day I walked 5 miles which was difficult but it was ok. Apparently I was most likely adjusting for the pain in my hamstring and must have been focusing on using more of my calf muscle to walk. I woke up the next morning with a super strained calf. My calf felt like a rock. I did what you suggested and I’m back to walking without that super crampy stretched rubber band feeling. Thank you soooooo much!!🎉😊

This is a very timely video for me. I've just been injured in my calf (I was hit with a cricket ball) which has led to heavy bruising and being unable to walk, initially. I did some (very gentle) gua sha from having seen it in previous videos. However, I was scraping DOWN my leg, and have noticed deep purple bruising has appeared on my foot and swelling around my ankle, presumably as a result of this. I'll try going UP in future!

Thanks from Bangladesh. I have been suffering from calf pain since 9 yrs old . Now I'm 35. It's not like a sharp pain but something like dull pain . When someone presses my calf i feel very good . And sometimes I even tie my calf at night with rope so that I can sleep well . And if i tie the calf i feel a bit better . But I know this is not a long term treatment . Can you please help me to get rid of my calf pain once and for all ? I can't sleep at night . My legs are always restless for this reason . Even in my sleep i keep my legs moving so that the pain is less felt . What can I do sir ? Just let you know that I don't eat much fish and other vitamin and calcium rich foods . Could this be a reason? 😭

From @familyrunsclub Thanks! APRIL 14TH was jersey city marathon and i had to stop at halfway due to pain. An hour later i could barely walk. After doing this exercise 1 time only, my pain in calf, achilles tendon and upper foot have reduced. Will keep doing this for several days!!
I have been struggling with calf pain after about the first few hundred yards of walking and it made walking quite miserable- something to be endured. I’ve just come back from a 3 mile walk in under an hour with very little calf pain after rubbing oil and the spoon handle up and down my calf. That’s quite a dramatic change. I get restless legs at night which drives me mad so I’m going to try that before bed now too. Thank you 🙏
How do you know all this secrets . Like I have doing a lot of exercise to strengthen my knee, ankle , lower back but they keep making it worst but since I came across your video, at first I'm like let me just give it a try as usual but I'm shocked how it drops the pain don't get me wrong not magic but it work like magic . Ive been a nurse for 20 years and i cannot tell you how sore i am from hip to feet. Constant walking, lifting people , turning for 12 hrs make my body ache after a long day. Why is the inside of my calf the absolute most sore when i jse that scraping technique?

My outer skin rashes from the menthol in sports creams, but is, thankfully, perfectly fine with lidocaine _(discovered lidocaine does temporary wonders for cramps and spasms)_

After doing 2 weeks of the exercise where you stand on a step with your toes and move up and down, I now got a paint just above where the calf muscle ends. It is very sharp, alsmost as if pricking with a needle (at least as I imagine). Does the same method work in this case, or make it worse?

Last year I practiced the spoon method and it kinda worked, but I experienced more pain (maybe because I overdid it). But I also took initiative to submerged my feet into hot water to relax the muscle. Now in 2024, in this last three days it's coming back again. I hate living like this man. My right calf always create pain when I least expected it. I got this pain not from exercising but from just sleeping. I have no idea? Maybe because I don't walk much? I'm lazy and depressed. I have depression and trauma because I had been physically abused before in my right thigh, by my narcissistic abusive mother. She tried to broke my leg!!! The abuse happened 15 years ago and at that time I cannot bend my leg for whole 1 month. It was very painful. Took 3 months of recovery and my mother refused to bring me to hospital. She denied medical support and pretend nothing ever happened 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 Do you think the physical abuse played a role in weakening my right leg muscle?? Because I also cannot stand for too long or I will get sudden shock that woke me up from sleeping. It's always my right calf which experience this pain. Never happened on my left leg!!!

Does this also work if my calves hurt due to excessive training? Or would that be a bad idea? My muscles were so sore I could barely walk and had to pick up my crutches to move all day 😂 (This has never happened to me before I usually know my limits)

All of them are great but my fav. Is the gua sha. I bought a jade stone especially for gua Sha and I was hardly taking it out of my dresser drawer till now! I woke up with a charlie horse in my calf and the next morning went straight to you for help. Ty so much. I do have this ? - when I wake up and do the natural body stretch that we all do, I have to be careful or I get a charlie horse and even in my rib cage? Why? See, I've been to a lot of physiotherapists now for a joint and muscle issues now. It's unbelievable how none of them have ever recommended the spoon/butter knife rubbing method. It works so well
