Tried this last night Steve. Managed to get a 41 “break”. Mixture of easy and medium difficulty pots. I’m going to keep doing this until I can comfortably get 50’s. Great practice routine for confidence building and learning little stuns etc.
Very good exercise for break building Steve. I really cannot understand how people give you a thumbs down for such a great and informative session like this one...when bottom line, all you are doing is helping everyone on improving their game. Thank you thank you thank you for your great efforts in putting up these sessions. I always take a lot on board and put them in to my sessions :)
This is an amazing exercise routine for beginners and that is why you are a great teacher Steve. Helping a beginner to improve his game makes a great teacher because beginners need help the most and your practice exercises are always the best. Obviously the more experienced an individual is less help needed with the practice. Experienced players know how and what aspects of their game needs improving. Thanks again Steve for showing us how to practice and making us better players.
I like this routine. No pressure. Angle recognition. Difficulty adjustments. we can self assess and set shots back up that we find more difficult if we want to. Very noice. 👌
Another excellent video. Simple yet very effective. Too many players at my local club do the 'line up' with 10+ reds basically because it looks fancy but just about get red colour red.
definitely gonna try this next time i go practice, it seems like break building is what i need to work on and i'm sure this will help! cheers for the vid!
I like this one, definitely going to spend time with it next time at the club. A classic example here of why your videos are so useful, some coaches on RU-vid seem to focus on practice routines that are great for them at pro or semi pro level but are not necessarily the best for your average numpty like me. You know what your audience needs!
I really like your videos and have found that my game has improved since I've been watching them. Have you ever considered mounting a camera directly above the table so that we can actually see the angles? It would probably take 3 cameras. One above the black, the blue & the brown spots. Just a suggestion. Keep them coming. And thanks.
Yes.. in fact i have been searching for videos which has a camera on the top of the table say near the table lights... it gives a far more better sight of the angle & the spin the ball takes.... But unfortunately i haven't found any..😔

I've been playing the game for a number of years now and I've learned more from these videos in the last 2 months I've been watching, than the 20+ years I've been playing. Now I know why I haven't been able to progress, I've been giving myself far too much to do all at once. one question though...have you played professionally, and if not, why? Your cue action is sublime, very reminiscent of Stephen Lee's
What a great routine. Gonna try this in the morning (got me own table - club is closed 🔐). Your cue has a really nice tone, do you prefer a harder tip? What tip do you use? Great video mate 👍

I really watch your videos after when I started snooker and really help me a lot. Can you put any video about installing tip and shapping cue tip as I cab see your tip shape is mashroom shape but wanted to know how did you get that and which tools you used?
Hi Barton, in one of your videos You mentioned that we can stand with the line of aim passing through the center of the body (belt buckle) instead of putting the foot on the line. Can we play from this position or do we have to put our foot on the line eventually when we walk in to the shot?
Your leg is moving quite alot on the rest shot, is this something you regularly do? And how does that affect your ability with the rest? I only ask because you usually seem so strict with your routine this struck me as odd.
@@dermotshaw6775 that leg is just used as a counter balance. It would literally be impossible to keep that leg perfectly still. Try holding you leg out in front of you and keep it perfectly still 😁
@@BartonSnooker of course lol. I'm not judging you, I'm just curious whether it affects the ability with he rest. And is there any other way to play the shot If this is the case. Obviously sometimes these positions are unavoidable, I guess I can just set some of these up and see what's best.
@@dermotshaw6775 no other way to play them unfortunately. Have a look at the pros this week in the Gibraltar Open. It's not that often you have to lean over the table like that, but when you do, it's the only way to play it.
Sorry, don't mean to be negative, but I cannot see how this is helping at all. And yes I'm quite a decent player with 100+ breaks. You're playing a black without any position because after potting, you're placing a red conveniently where you like. How is that realistic on any level? You're better off placing 5-6 reds around the black and pink and break building that way.
Hi. Not every video is aimed at all players. Obviously we all start off at different places. Some people have never held a cue before in their life, or have only been playing for a matter of weeks. For those players, this routine gets you improving your recognition of the angles on the black, as well as focussing the mind and giving you a goal to aim at. There's all kinds of things for a beginner to improve on here: - Angle recognition - Straight cueing - Judging pace Remember, none of us start off making 40+ breaks the day we pick up a cue. If a player can't pot red, colour, red from a lineup he's better off with something like this to get his potting, cueing and confidence up before moving on to other routines.
