When this video first came out, I tried this, but had mixed results. I think it was because I was using the non-license option. After buying a bass-shaker and paying for a lic. option to get full use of the bass-shaker options, I recently came back to the global map to give it another try and now I see all of the view and customizable options that you show in the video. I"m just not sure if they were there before and I just missed them, or it really was showing me different options. One thing I'm trying to nail down is exactly what the overlay uses to make the map. When I started running it this week, the first session I did was a MX-5 practice at Lime Rock and the map was already pre-loaded. I did not need to complete any timed laps to make it show up. I figured it was maybe using my b-lap/o-lap data to make the map since I've previously driven that track in that car, many times. Then I went to an Advanced Mazda practice which was at Watkins Glen and no map, but that too is a course/car combination that I've driven many times. Then I did a test session at Mid-Ohio a course I've never driven... no map. Then I did a test session with Porsche RSR at Laguna Seca, another combination I don't think I've ever driven... and the map was there.
I figured it out. The overlay is using the statistics and track map information gathered while sim hub while using sim hub. It is saving its own information and statistics. It is not pulling any information from iRacing. Maps were being displayed for me because I had been using Sim hub for a week for the bass-shakers, prior to using the global map, so all of those sessions had already stored mapping information within Simhub.
Oh that’s cool. I didn’t know about this. Thanks David, you now have an iracing stalker for your trouble. You’re right about the line, I was learning vir with it, turned it off and it wasn’t as familiar as I expected. But, I went faster without it eventually.
Looks very interesting. My critical question is; does this work with triples in surround mode? Does it also require to be in windowed mode or windowed mode to work?
Hi David Great videos. I have downloaded and donated to Simhub so I can use the track overlay. When I open global map there is no lap map inside the rectangle is there any steps I am missing cheers Just read a post below and got the answer
Hey there David, mate i now have a licence for this really cool software, but do i need to set this up every time i start iRacing or can i set it up once so that when i start iRacing it automatically starts for the track map ?
Great video David. Question...I have a couple of tracks that appear too big for the box and a sections at the edge miss the box. Is there a fix that you know of?
So as an overlay you wouldn’t see it in game capture right?? So if i wanted this to be seen on stream i’d have to use screen capture instead of game capture or window capture
I found the live map to better than the full map when I was driving around Nurbugring as the full map doesn't show all the corners properly due to the length of the track. Been trying to learn the track and a few corners catch me out all the time. I wasn't able to change the size of my position "dot" for some reason though. Maybe I set it too small?
@@salalatzo I also donated and have the full version, still no idea. Also at Suzuka the full track map doesn't fit in, and I don't seem to be able to get it to with changing different settings? Sure there's a way but I'm not so good at these things
Just wanted to say Great channel and tutorial . Look for a post from alfie glenie about 3 months ago and a reply from marcel smit. Looks like it won’t run in full screen but marcels post may remove the borders. I’ll give it a try.
Thanks for the video. I have downloaded it, and got the licence..question..can the overlay be used on a previously recorded replay? I cant find the answer on their forums, Thanks.
The question comes in now is, most of us are using 2 different overlay apps between simhub and racelabapps. Should we notice any performance hits using both?
Great video, I’m not able to open Sim Hub when iRacing is open, I’m not able to get to the app. If I open sim hub first then it’s behind iRacing. How do I get sim hub open when iRacing is open? Please help me . Thanks
I figured out with the windows button I can bring up the task bar to get to the SimHub app but the windows button doesn’t hide the task bar after you launch SimHub. I tried ALT enter but that hides the task bar and closes the SimHub map over lay. Any ideas? Thanks
Mine says game isnt running, and if i try to start it through simhub i just get presented with the login on browser cause i have it on steam and default iracing start just opens browser.
download went well but i can't get the red box to go away, when i press stop edit red box and map all gp away. sim hub costumer service elplaned nothing, just refunded my donation. can you help.
Hi when I tri to do this the track is not in the box and I also can't get anything on my phone it's doing my head in I am also licensed I'm new to all this any help would be great full.
Trying to use simhub overlay had few issues getting it to work with Iracing. Then because iam great with pc. Anyhow. Sometimes it don’t work. Dunno what I’m doing wrong.
I had this same issue and went to their forums and found a solution that worked for me. After you play the overlay and the overlay editor and map windows come up, move the map where you want it. On the overlay editor, click the bottom left button "Stop edit". Now minimize the editor and start running laps. The reason the track doesn't display at first is because the map isn't loaded up in the app yet. After you complete 1-3 timed laps the track will be displayed and then it works just like in this video. Hope this helps!
@@Sampsoid hey thanks for the reply, and for the videos has really helped out I am just getting started so has been really helpful. I find the track map is useful for me right now as I am learning, but I tried to get one in kapps from another video with no sucess. I have got this working now and running alongside kapps
@@Sampsoid oh ok. I turned off gaming mode after seeing you mention it in another video then the overlays started showing. I must have already had the other settings correct.
I have since turned mine back on as seems to be working well. My biggest worry with it was using it with OBS while I streaming/recording as was causing issues.
@@alfieglenieracing7839 you have to change a few settings in your app.ini file Documents\iRacing\app.ini Change this under [Graphics DX11] Fullscreen = 0 Border=0 reduceFramerateWhenFocusLost=0 windowedMaximized=1 That should do it. If you still see a border ingame, go to the options graphics setting in the game and uncheck border.
Be careful with SIM hub. I downloaded it and it put a virus in my computer. I had to reset my computer. I only use my computer for iRacing. Never had any issues until I downloaded it. I knew it was a bad idea when it was asking for administrator permission.
