I'm 73 years old & I can walk on my hands reasonable well - - not perfect !!! I began training in December of last year by 1) building my shoulder & arm muscles by doing vertical push ups against a wall. After that 2) I practiced falling over on a rubber mat without injuring myself. Finally 3) I just started kicking up into a handstand and attempting to find my balance point. That was the most difficult part. It took me 5 - 6 days before I could "walk" 20 feet. So that is my advice 1) strength, 2) learning how to "fall" without injury & 3) finding the balance point. This was much easier than learning how to unicycle.

I am 72 years old, and I can do up through Level 3. I am meeting resistance with Level 4!!!! I have not been able to take more than 2 steps. Glad to know you got over the hump. I have to get over the mental block and fear of falling. Not there yet, but will keep after it! I was glad to see your post about being successful from someone in my same age bracket.
@n3evpn3evp

@@garyleewallen I practiced on rubber mats that I purchased at Harbor Freight that I used for other purposes and I practiced on my yard. Both will absorb considerable shock if you do fall over. Never practice on a hard surface.

Without knowing it, I've been stuck at level 4/5 for MONTHS! I'm strong enough but just cant get comfortable with the feeling of tipping forward off the wall and on the open forward. Sometimes I get lucky and can do about 5 feet, but its very very rare. I'll definitely be sweet talking someone to help me with the braced PVC drill! Thank you for breaking down the progressions very simply!

I really need to dial in this skill for the WODs. I'm currently kicking up, getting a few feet as fast as possible and coming down. I'm going to add this into my daily warm-ups starting from level 1 just to make sure I correct any errors so I can put my best foot (or hand, haha!) forward! Great video, thank you for the help, you also helped me determine what pull-up grips I want to get. You have yourself a new subscriber!

The videos and demos were fantastic…I’m a Masters Athlete who is stuck on Level 3. When I’m feeling “it” some days I try to HSW which is basically me donkey kicking up stumbling forward a few quick steps and falling over… Obviously not safe or effective!!! I’m looking forward to trying this progression and fingers crossed I see results. Thanks for sharing… In Health T. Johnson

This is great! I can do the wall walks and I can do the shoulder taps but I tried to skip straight to free standing HSW. I had a spotter the other day and that was helpful but I want to try the step where you walk away from the wall! I think that will be super helpful! Thanks for the video

This is a great video...but you didn't address the "nose-to-wall" then falling over landing flat on my back and torquing my neck and head part. You also didn't address whether (I) need to be able to hold a freestanding handstand hold before/to be able to start trying to handstand walk. (I can't) I am the only person that crashes over on my back? I have pre-existing neck and back problems, so I'm particularly not excited about this! Also, I'm sure that if I was a tween this would be no big deal...but I am 61f! PS: Handstand hold (1+minute), strict HSPUs, and regulation wallwalks, against wall I can do. Thank you!
