Nice theory. I have to do this on a potentially slippery 2-steps outside. Weak upper body, not the best balance, NO trust in the crutches not slipping away and making me fall again. No trakning (zero), don't know if crutches are even adjusted right.

Sarah Gilbert, sorry to hear about your stair situation. There are no easy, one situation fits all, answers for stairs. Here is a link to how to adjust crutches to make sure yours are right. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nKffM1HqJ08.html How to use the crutches video will be attached to that video as well. We always suggest getting a consultation with a local PT as needed for safety. Hope this is helpful. Be safe and take care! ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com

@@AECorner lucky for me, I'm a personal trainer, and have a 5 & 10 lbs Kettlebell at home, so I can work on my triceps. My husband & I figured out the settings on the crutches last night, a week after I was sent home right after waking from the surgery. I guess I can crawl down those steps on my hands & knees, the way I did when I fell & broke the ankle. But to say that this is strengthening or in any way re-establishing my trust in the local "health care system" would be a lie.

Yes, crutches require a lot of balance and strength. Ask your primary care physician to refer you to a local Physical Therapist to assess your specific needs. It maybe that you need a different mobility device other than crutches to improve safety. It’s always best to error on the side of caution. Be safe ✌️❤️ AECorner

A bit confusing as British crutches are slightly different, but helpful nonetheless. Thank you!

JoeGoes8-Bit, thank you for your comment. We are assuming you are speaking of forearm (Lofstrand)crutches. Research indicates that forearm crutches are actually more efficient to use and allow a more natural posture. We are now seeing more styles of forearm crutches, so who knows, maybe we will catch up😊. Looks like we may need a video. Thanks again! ✌🏻❤️AECorner

How are you not falling on your back tryin to do it on one leg?!
@AECorner
@AECorner 6 лет назад
Yes, using crutches on stairs isn’t always easy. You always need to use caution, keeping your weight slightly forward on your way up and slightly back on your way down. Thanks for your comment. AECorner.com

I keep almost falling down. What can I do about it?
@AECorner
@AECorner 4 года назад
Kyle, walking on stairs with crutches can be very difficult, especially when you are non weight bearing. We recommend that you go see a local physical therapist for training and safety. Don’t take chances with your safety on the stairs when you are struggling. Until then, we recommend what many people do if they are able, which is to go up and down the stairs on their buttocks. Be safe! ✌🏻❤️AECorner
