Vebby LaCampeona no, I folded the paper towel so it would fit and filled the water until the towel was soaked. You want a thin layer of water on top of the paper towel. Then you put in the seeds. I hope this helps ☺️
Flawless yaz dude lemon seeds are super easy to germinate.just buy some lemons eat the lemon and use seeds for planting. For seeds to germinate they need to be washed and put them in wet paper towel in a container with a lid to keep moisture in. They will sprout and then you can plant into container with soil and then wait for it to get bigger and then transplant into ground. I have tonnes of baby lemon trees all grown from seed and all good lemons 🍋 Where do u live cos if u live in Australia our lemons are not gmo so you should be fine using them seeds to grow a lemon tree. Make sure you grow a few so if some die you can keep the strongest kind. Also if they all grow well you can give some away to family/friends etc.
Flawless yaz if you peel the outer part of the seed it will germinate faster but they still germinated for me with the skin on too but just took a lil longer and the trick to germinating them was the warmth. I tried to germinate in cool weather and it didn’t work but soon as I tried inside and sat the containers with wet paper towel and lemon seeds on the computer which stays at a nice warm temperature they sprouted not long after being warm. So yeah any citrus you plant will germinate if it’s kept warm.
I have always loved to garden and I will always love it. But my health is so bad and I’m always in pain and fatigued. So I don’t have the energy to garden like I used to. But the pandemic has made me plant more stuff than I would have. It’s made me realise I really need to keep up with my gardening even though I don’t feel well and I’m always tired and sick I need to keep up with my gardening. It’s an amazing thing to do and it helps us all with food supply and staying home more keeping each other safe. It’s healthier to grow your own organic food,It saves us money and it’s fun too so why not. I think it’s awesome that so many people are now growing their own fruit trees and veges etc . Some ppl haven’t ever grown a thing in their life until now but that’s ok. Better late than never and now they will all be prepared for future if shtf and they will have their own fruit right off their trees for the rest of their lives.
Iv been needing this info since I was 5 years old storing cherry seeds in my dresser to grow at a later time but I never knew you had to crack the seed so I never was a success till now bitches lol
Short and beautiful . At least gave an insight as to how to start. Since I bought a house with a backyard, I have been dreaming gardening, and, eating cherries now made me want to at least how to start. Will try tomorrow only. Thanks.
After watching 5-6 videos I actually understood the procedure in your video Thank you so much for making it so simple. Today I'm going to crack seeds and refrigerate for 10 days
Wajid Ali I believe it's better to store the seed in the pit and then crack and plant. I read that the cherry embryo develops in the pit during winter (stratification)
I was actually looking for some after the seed sprouted help. Like how much water to give them? (And by the way, I just dropped mine in the soil and watered them every day because I didn't know you were supposed to crack them! It was over a month at least but I figured they weren't hurting anything lying there next to my other failed experiments.)😁
I was able to crack the cherry seed shell by placing the seed in between a hand towel and using a small wooden club to tap the seed. (The wooden club I used was from something called a Pilon that is used to mince garlic.) After using this method and several taps, I was able to crack the cherry seed shell. Before that, I tried using a wrench to crack the shell, but the wrench was too strong and a few of the seeds were crushed.
I put mine under the sink where the temperature is good for the seed to germinate.I used white shirts made up of cotton n moist it.Hope this help.Merci😊
U C Ain't Nothin Yet what temperature should it be? I put mine by the sun... it’s been not even a day and my seed has cracked? I already took off the nut I don’t understand
The big error in this video is that it doesn't mention cold stratification. That's means going through a cold phase. Cherry seeds HAVE to go through this process because in the wild they go through winter first then germinate in spring. I have successfully grown many cherry trees from seed simply by throwing a bunch of seeds on soil ground outside under a tree or a bush, somewhere shady, in my garden. Let them sit there all through winter, not all but many do germinate in spring. Try it!
My experience First try: the seeds got mold on them Second try: better but got a little mold Third try: Nothing happened 😕 Forth try: ran out of cherry seeds so can’t do anymore Trials 🤷♀️
Hi!! Try organic cherries. You only have to buy a handful, not a whole pound. Anyway, a lot of gmo produce will not grow from its seed and the ones that do actually REQUIRE chemical fertilizer to grow. Organic seeds are far easier to sprout and grow. Good luck!!
I did with lemon seeds. The tree has begun setting fruit for the first time. I used the moist paper towel in a bag method. Out of three seeds, only one survived.
Awesome, I didn't know about the paper towel method, till I seen a video. It's fun growing them though. Now I'm thinking the reason why my other two died. Is because I took them from paper towel, straight to ground soil. It must of been a shock to them. Should planted them in cups with potting soil. As of now, I'm just germinating avocado seeds in paper towels. I got four that germinated, and are 4" tall. Three more are still in paper towels.
If you live in colder climes (I'm in Scotland) and you just leave the seedling outside you may just watch it die from cold. If you leave it outside you may have to "graft" it to a hardy root stock such as a hawthorn. This is usually done after it's trunk is thick enough. I understand that this comment is premature and I only mention it in case you're bored during this pandemic and you want to do some research to fill in time.
I have maraschino cherries, like the ones that come in syrup for ice cream or cocktails. I've found seeds from a few of the cherries. These seeds will still be good right? I just found the seeds tonight, I haven't tried germinating them or anything yet. I don't see why it wouldn't work, I'm sure the seeds are still good, right?
Was wondering what this little one was in my garden. Kept it safe and reported it. Think my mum chucked some seeds in soil pot and it grew out this year. Thanks
Hi I did same thing but now I have abut 20 young plant and need grafting otherwise very year all the flowers falling down and just get one or two pice of cherry
where abouts are most of you guys and gals situated? I live in Galveston, will I have the same luck growing them here? I will probably have to leave them in the fridge for about 4 months, it just does not get cold enough for long periods
I have cracked 50 off them but not succesided. Then only one ok 🥳. Most seeds are rotten in side. Few where ok but I crushed them😂my mistake. Hope I could get that single seedling🤞🏼..
I just drown mine in water for 8hrs, then plant them in potting soil. " kitchen window, most sun light from inside the house." Takes only 29 to 37 days to grow. " I also take the hard shell off like the person in the video" Your good seeds, will stay at the bottom of the water, during the 8hr to 12hr soak. what i do find funny is this. " on most of the trees, they never seem to be able to shake that seed lol"
Thank you, my seeds are germinating. How often should I water them in the pot? 08-29 update: first 5 seeds collapsed. Then from other 5 1collapsed and 1 got out. Should I leave it covered with plastic?
It depends. If store-bought cherries have been kept in cold storage prior to going on sale then the cold stratification has been accomplished, depending how long they've been kept cold obviously. That's why the uploader had success germinating at room temperature after just 10 days. Cold stratification for cherries takes up to 3 - 4 months!
will these cherries grow in golf countries , I like this fruit to grow in my garden am an Indian for us the climate will be very hot most of the days in the year . will it grow here , what are the tips to be taken to grow these
Kandru Chandu I live in coolish climate and I can’t grow much and I hate it. I would love to grow bananas, pineapple, mango, paw paw, papaya etc which I’m sure you can grow all of kind of thing.
The leaves of my little tree turn form green to brown and then it produces another green leave out of the top of the tree which turns also brown when it grows bigger. And this proces conitinues. This appears on both little trees IHve. What am I doing wrong?
You can also use "normal" earth! Cotton pads, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. Make it easier to handle, but as you can guess in nature they develop in soil. ;-)
God bless you all! Jesus loves you all so much and He is coming at any second now! Many will be left behind and claim they are “Christian” so please ask God to correct you and get right with God! Start or continue living in Father Gods’ Will! ✝️❤️ Much love!!
