Learn how to grow plum tree from seeds or pits and how to crack open a plum seed from pits from plums from a grocery store. Growing plums from seed is easy if you first learn to germinate a plum seed, as I am doing in Australia. First crack open the plum seed, and then germinate the seeds indoors. It may take about 3 months to grow the plum tree from seed. You can dry plums to make them prunes. The plum seed germination needs correct stratification procedure to germinate it faster. The method shown here ensures 100 % success for growing plum tree from seeds.

I live in Peoria, AZ. My fiancé and I went up North to a town called Munds Park, AZ and stay in a cabin for the weekend. In doing this we went to the town’s local lake there to enjoy the beauty, I noticed a woman picking some fruit. What I thought were cherries. They were actually a European Plum. After eating one. To my surprise, they had a slight tart and sweet taste to them. Absolutely delicious. I picked a handful of them and in the progress of sowing them to grow to give to others. I just thought I would share this considering this video is about plums. Have a wonderful day fam.

We moved into our current house about 11 months ago, and the previous tenant was a gardener. So far I have identified 3 Asian Pear trees(they were delicious) a persimmon tree, at least 6 rose of Sharon bushes, peach and white rose bushes, irises, red spider lilies, and etc. Read up on how to care for them, and now I am harvesting any seeds that I can find. Alsogrowing planning on a vegetable garden. I bought 2 plums today, mainly for the seeds. Good luck with growing your first plum tree.🫐🌳

If you put cinnamon on top of the seeds before putting g them in the fridge it will help them not grow mold.

Hello, thank you for this video. Is it better to change the paper towel everytime I check the seeds to see if they have sprouted? Also, do I re-spray it with water every time?

No need to change paper unless it has become black. Also no need to spray again unless the paper becomes fully dry, you may not need to respray.

Can I save the pits until spring ( live in cold Minnesota) and the crack open and stratify? I don't want to look after indoors all winter.

Yes, put the pits wrapped in paper as shown and put in fridge. It will take about 3 months to sprout. You may continue them in fridge for another month. Then you may plant it in soil and keep indoors until spring. OR simply store them in fridge and plant them directly in,soil in Spring. The seeds will germinate then without stratified as they will be exposed to cold.

Great video. I was told if you sprinkle cinnamon on the paper towel you will not get mold. I live in Canada where we have winter by the time my seed sprouts. How can I care for my plum tree in winter?

I have not tried with cinnamon, but thst may be possible. During winter, keep the seedling indoors, away from heated air from AC. You may mist the leaves or place the pot in bathroom. Also water less. The soil should be free-draining. Goid luck.

Thank you for the video. I had read the how to from someone else and they said to sprinkle the seeds with cinnamon, but did not say why. I love the tool that you used used when planting the seeds in a pot with soil. Is it a homemade tool or store bought. If it is store bought, what is the name of the tool and/or what is the name of the store? 🤩

Question for clarity do I put the seed in the fridge because this tricks it into believing that it's the onset of winter? And if so why is this I'm not aware of any other seeds that need to go into the fridge

Some seeds need to be under a very low temperature for about300 hours to break their dormancy to germinate. If the fruit has come from cold storage, then the seed may be germinate without stratification.

Keep the seedling in shade until it grows 3-4 sets of leaves. Do not overwater. You can feed seaweed solution. Then expose the seedling in orning sun for about a week.

I threw away two that floated right away. They were not fat seeds. The rest are sinking. It has not been 24 hours yet. I kept them in the fridge all winter already. Should I put them in the fridge while I try to sprout too? I missed my cold spring planting season. Found my seeds again while cleaning my fridge.
