@Genn Monreal R. it tends to be trial and error at first, remember the weather and where we live influences a lot. For me it's very hard because I live in a tropical island and my plants tend to die from too much heat or this particular white plague that just appears out of nowhere. I have to try and adapt some instructions to fit my home because otherwise they die

Thank you again! I watch all your videos, they are very inspiring. I just planted eggplants a couple of days ago in 5 gallon grow bags like you have shown. My transplants were pretty much the same size as yours. But now some of them are flowering. It is an early fruiting variety but even then are not the plants too small to flower and bear fruit? If they flower this soon the plant wont have energy to drop roots and grow, right? I cut off the flowers. Then I am wondering maybe I shouldn't have the plant knows what to do? What do think? Do you ever trim off some eggplant blooms?
@TowardGarden

Depending on the variety you grow, they may flower at different stages. I usually don't prune flowers but if you did, don't worry the plant will produce more flowers later. Just make sure to keep plants fertilized. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

Great video! Questions: Can eggplants be grown indoor? If it is grown outdoor, how much sunlight does it need, and what is the ideal watering frequency?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 года назад
Eggplants should be planted in full sun(8 hrs a day) to grow well. Watering will depend on the weather and condition of growing. If it is too hot and specially for grow bags, you may need to water daily. Generally, check top 1 inch or finger tip of the soil. If it is dry then you need to water plants. After harvesting the eggplant, does the plant bears fruit again? (eggplant again?) Ty

You will be able to harvest fruits in a period of couple of weeks or more, but once harvesting is done and specially if it gets colder, it will stop fruiting. @TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 года назад
Eggplants do well in full sun (6-8 hrs of sun). If you have a mild winter like me in California, you can start seed either mid winter (Feb.) or mid summer to harvest in October. When grown in full sun, for very hot days +90F, you can protect plants with some shade cloths (I use 30% blocking cloths). I hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

I have a shed like room in my backyard where I keep my seed trays until the seedlings sprout. As soon as they pop out, I move them outside either in filtered sunlight (under a patio umbrella), or 3-4 hours of direct early morning sunlight. Eggplants do well in warmer weathers and cool/rainy season might effect their fruit production. If you have the option, I suggest to grow them in a form of a greenhouse where you can control the temperatures. For example if grown in containers, you may use large clear plastic bags to make an individual greenhouse for each pot. Also, in cloudy or cool weather, tapping the flowers will encourage pollination. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

Eggplant flowers have both male and female reproductive organs on the same flower. They still need pollination to set fruit. Gently shake the flower and they will be pollinated. You can check my other eggplant video where I showed how to do that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iKobvJseO2Q.htmlsi=eMUhI6HG6dqrFI9h&t=297 Hope this helps and thank you for getting in touch.

How often do you water them when you are just starting off the seeds up until they grow big enough to put in grow bags, daily? Every few days?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden Год назад
You want to keep the seed mix moist, but definitely not soggy (not overwatering). As soon as you notice the top layer of the soil is getting dry, it is time to water. If the temperature is not very hot, usually it will need light watering every 2-3 days or twice a week before seeds germinate. Happy growing and thank you for visiting!

I tried to start eggplant from seeds. Seeds germinated well and i re- potted plants in bigger planters. But growth is very slow and there are no flowers even after 4 months. Any suggestions?
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 года назад
It is hard to tell without seeing them. I am guessing it is either due the weather or your soil. If the plants (leaves) are healthy, then you may want to feed them with a balanced or a tomato fertilizer. But if growth is stunned and plants are loosing leaves, there might be a disease attacking the roots. Hope you will find a solution. Thanks for getting in touch!

Hi there I live in Florida and bug are bag here and very hot what could you tell me thanks
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 2 года назад
Hi there. For plants(such as eggplants) that don't need pollinators like bees to set fruits, you mat use garden netting to keep the bugs away. Or you can grow insect-repelling plants(basil, mint, lavender , petunia,...) around your vegetables to keep bugs away. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

Is this a nursery enclosed garden? How do u keep in sects and snails from eating everything? I cant grow anything without alot of poison
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 7 месяцев назад
No, I don't have any green house or enclosed garden. Preventing is the best to control pest. I check my plants daily and with the first sign of pest present I use the appropriate pesticide, usually neem oil or spinosad mix. For snails I have my pots above ground on pallets which helps a lot. Other great option is to sprinkle food grade DE Diatomaceous earth around plants which is also organic. Hope this helps and thanks for visiting!
