1. Avoid heat. 2-3 times a year straightening your hair. It burns your ends. 2. Protect your ends. Trim often when they look split. 3. Don't be tough with your hair. Comb your hair when it's wet. Start from the bottom going to the roots. 4. Moisture every week. Not butter /oils but water then seal. 5. Keep your hair stretched in a protective style eg braid out, twist outs, crotchet. 6. Learn to do your hair yourself. Try out hairstyles. 7. Use bonnets and headscarf satin or silk to avoid rubbing with harsh materials like cotton/polyester & avoid split ends. 8. Have fun with it. Don't worry about the rules
Most long hair youtubers have one thing in common. And that's time and patience. I bet either she's been natural all her life or she's been growing her hair for at least 4 years(min) to achieve this growth length. There is no magic pill sorry to say. 😆 It's taken me 5 years to reach pass waist length. And yes genetics played a roll. But you still have to take care of your hair. For years my hair was stuck at shoulder length.
@@juliet8186 id say protective styling and moisture. Thats what im doing now after a year of being at collarbone length. Its hard asf cause i wanna touch my hair but, discipline. Im aiming for at least 4 inches this new year(hair grows 6 inches a year).
I think genetics plays a role in how fast your hair grows, but in terms of length retention that's how you treat your hair, so the more you dye, heat, style your hair, the more other things you will have to do to make sure it is not getting damaged.
Girlfriend Don’t overthink it. Enjoy the ride.just embrace The message. If that’s your photo do you look as if looks you have a great hair yourself. As Michael Jordan says just do it. Love to go all. I’m out. ✌️ Bye.😊
Who else loves it when she says "Your ends are your Friends" ???🎉🎉 Split ends are a real issue. Not a trim but getting rid of the damaged ends definitely help loads with retaining length. Great tip 👍🏾
Thank you Black Women for the Natural Hair Movement. There are so many natural hair products to choose from now, owned by Black entrepreneurs. I have learned that my hair is between 4A and 4B hair texture. It soaks up water, which means it will frizz and shrink when it dries. During the spring and summer, I can go out of the house with one style and come back with a shorter "do". I have gotten to know my hair and I am having fun.
Great tips, I forever had short hair while growing up. I resorted to perming it and damaged it more. Then six years ago I cut it all and started braiding with my own hair, reduced heat, detangling by myself as salons weren't gentle with the detangling process. My hair is now longer than ever before and I'm still learning to take more care of it. Thanks for this video.
I’ve seen a lot of these videos and yours is my favorite. Excellent, excellent tips. I don’t have natural hair, it’s permed, and the tip that I’m glad you emphasized is that your hair needs moisture, and that moisture refers to WATER. I recently started washing my hair every 4-5 days and the difference is incredible.
Jesus love you, he died on the cross for you, accept him as your lord and savior he can change everything. For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life" (Jn 3:16" But you must repent too. From that time Jesus went about preaching and saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin, for the kingdom of heaven is near. (Matthew 4:17);
These are great tips! Keeping my hair stretched has saved my hair so much because all it likes to do is shrink and get fairy knots. Your hair is absolutely beautiful BTW 💯
Yes, everything you said made sense! You were on point! Right now, my 4C hair is extremely short after having had very long locks! My locks were past my bum! Now it's only 1½inches long! I cut my locks off because I wasn't taking good care of them; I found it too much work! However, after cutting my locks off my hair started to fall out until I had traction alopecia...yep, it got that bad! But 3yrs down the line and Ayervedic hair care, my hair is finally growing back. I will point out that part of my hair loss was due to my medication I was taking at the time. So I'll conclude by saying look after your hair people and don't be too envious of those with lengthy hair; it takes a lot of commitment and labour of love to maintain it.
Genetics only has to do with how fast your hair grows not how long it can grow. That being said you should still be getting a least 4 inches of growth per year (most people get 6.) Anyone can have long hair, terminal length is a myth. Your hair never stops growing while you are living. If your hair "stops growing" its just breaking off due to poor care/ health factors.
I just found your channel and this is literally the first video I've watched. I'll like to add bible verses to my videos too I think that is a very positive way to spread the word and I love it🥰🥰 may I please?
You don’t need to ask YaaYaa’s permission to spread the gospel as Christians have already been commissioned to do so in Matthew 28:19. So don’t hesitate sister🙏🏾
My hair sheds a lot from the roots when I comb it wet. Doesnt matter whether I use my fingers or a wide tooth comb. Any kind of brush is worse. The only thing that helps to detangle without losing as much hair is using a blow dryer as I finger detangle. Anybody else have this problem?
@@dorisjones7036 I was having this problem too, and I saw another RU-vidr say to deep condition your hair first, then shampoo it. Works wonders for me. I don't know if you've tried this or not.
I personally believe you were born with this beautiful head of hair.my young sister took after our father whose hair grew like mad and went on the barbers each week.it is so long and grows so much.for her it is just genetic.that is why I believe your is that way too.lovely hair you have.are your parents Ghanaian?
Great video! TFS! Habits/Care maximize hair growth and condition. Even the best genes can only take you so far. I salute your consistency, sis! Too many haters in the comment section talkin about “genes, genes, genes...” Meanwhile, what do genes have to do with flat ironing every week, not following up shampoo with a conditioner, dry combing, not protecting hair at night for sleep, etc etc- the gamut of things people KNOW they shouldn’t be doing but do anyway and then blame “genes” for their plateaus 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ People are sooooooo funny!!!🤣🤣
I dd away with combs & brushes & my hair is thanking me tremendously... 🙏🏾🙏🏾👌🏾🥰 used them once in like 8 months & I keep my hair in mini twists fr 4-8 weeks at a time
Your hair grows like mine, shorter in the front than in the back. This is great foreshadowing for me lol. Just pasted 3 years and I'm around armpit/ bra strap length
Good gawd!! Gurlfriend your hair is long an pretty just like you!!! I've tried time and time again.. Me and natural are not friends at all 🤣 I love your step by step tutorial!!
Nice instructions, I have tried to moisture my hair often and I can see a different my hair is growing fast.protective cap always don't stay on my head since I move a lot lol🙂 Thanks
Your hair is so beautiful!! These are great tips! I started doing more protective styling ( my sister call them ASAP rocky braids haha) and my hair is thriving ! I want to try incorporating fake hair, but a little nervous cause I have never had braids like this before and I know it will probably look a hot mess. Maybe that will add to the bohemian look I am going for 😂😂
My Classmate have hair like yours and no matter what I use my hair can never be like yours. People have different hair texture and growth and see so many RU-vidrs using their natural hair to make people feel the did something special to have long hair. #mariekimbi here
That's true... People say it has nothing to do with genetics... Lol they have never met me and my cousins. But my other siblings' hair grows out very well.
We’ve seen enough people who’s hair never grew past a certain length LEARN how to take care of their natural hair and end up having long hair to know that it’s not simply “genetics”. The genetics excuse would only work if someone always had long hair, since they were a kid, both when they were relaxed and natural. Most of these BW with long hair didn’t just have those genes because they were literally bald headed before learning proper hair care.
@Mabinty Bangura and what is that even supposed to mean....is it because of her hair texture or facial structure.... There are west Africans with looser hair texture who are not mixed ....she literally has a video of she and her Ghanaian mom...Yaa which is her channel name...is a Ghanaian name which means 'female Thursday born'
Girl I love your hair but girl I'm afraid because my hair is almost this length and the detangling..blow drying session is already long enough....jesus yess..you have to have determination to maintain length retention...🤗
Far from the truth. I have seen pple who have grown their hair very long without genetics being a contributing factor. I think we all have to find what's work for us to get results with patience and consistency.
Growing your hair takes time...point blank genetics or not. It grows they said about half inch a month, so to get her length it takes years. I had a pixie cut with undercut transitioned for the relaxer for 9 months before cutting those dead ends. Fully Natural for 8 months started out above my eyebrows the top & my hair today at the tip of my nose & undercut at the end of earlobe...8 more months it should be close to my chin..16 months God willing. Your hair does grow, you have to take care of it. It's a combination of moisturizer & healthy hair practices like she is sharing with us.
I could never. It comes down to genetics. My brother, and sisters had longer and thicker hair then me, when they were younger but me on the other end. I had pony tails that looked like chicken wings, my hair never was shoulder length like theres. I believe my natural hair can grow shoulder length after flat iron or streched and not in its natural state.
@Deonna Hensley In general your hair is determined by genetics. Some people jus have longer hair growth hair cycles then others. I'm ok with my hair being short and thin.
A lot of people had short hair when they were younger, and once they learned what worked for their hair as adults are able to grow out their hair. Maybe the products that your family used were not beneficial for your hair. Perhaps you are deficient in some minerals that affect hair growth. Maybe your go-to hairstyle is breaking off your hair. In 2020, there are many resources to turn to so that everyone can have their best hair, and to keep it short or to grow it out.
Nece B same. I can relate to your struggles. I also had short hair my whole life, couldn't even hold a pony tail at all and I've tried a lot of things and I don't manipulate my hair a lot but it just doesn't grow out longer. Dad's side of the family also generally have short hair, they struggle to grow long hair. I think we have an intrinsic genetic problem we are not aware of but I think a large factor has to do with the fact that we naturally have very thin, brittle hair. To top it off, we have extreme slow growth rate.
@@YaaYaa I hope you w will listen to my lovesong. I am a Songwriter...trying to spread The Love. It's too much hate going on these days. My quest is to Spread the hope of what love does
@@user-um7tw6kx4r6 She's right. Genetics is definitely a factor to how thin, thick, or how fast it grows. Even the pororsity. It will grow, but not everyone will have the same result. I know my hair will not be as thick as hers because my hair is naturally thin but it grows long. My roomate has thick hair but hers doesn't grow as fast.
You are right and wrong at the same time because as for me, my family has beautiful hair but mine is thin and I get help from, okra, onion and aloe Vera.
God Bleed you my sister !! Thanks 🙏 for the great hair advice ,!!! You were awesome 👏 I love ❤️ your beautiful hair and skin !! You should be a model !! 🙏👍😍 Take care
Genes only play a role in the hair growth rate, the hair growth cycles and hair textures. Not in how long your hair can grow. Believe it or not, my hair currently grows 5 inches in a month and sometimes more, due to my regimen that contains a lot of DIY'S. Every black women can grow long hair 😉
@@ashleya2835 - If starting point is a TWA then 3 yrs for arm pit length, 5 yrs for mid-back & closer to 10 yrs for waist or tailbone length. From the videos I’ve watched & the ones willing to admit the time it took, I’ve summed up what THEY said.
I had a crew cut at the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and did not touch my hair for about 6 months. Just washed it; It was a tangled dry mess . But it had grown about 3-4 inches. I started over again in September 2020 to now January 2022, and just washed, moisturized and braided it. It has grown to about 7 inches in that time. It's possible. Hair grows. I don't have armpit or botty crack length, but I am just saying hair grows and will thrive under the correct conditions.
Please do this video again but more focused on the daily week of your hair and how you wear it majority of the time like Wash n go vs twist out or blown out state.
