Ok 2 years growing microgreens because I stumbled on this video. This is the most satisfying delicious easy hobby! I just followed everything Mandy and CJ instructed and made no mistakes. I grow 2-3 trays daily. I donate the broccoli to my niece for her MS diet. I eat a tray of daikon radishes daily and also share another tray with a friend. My set up is in my exercise room. Health health health! Thank you Mandy and CJ.

Awesome video, those greens look very healthy. As far as the 'uneven' bottom watering, it may help that every time you replace it on the shelf after watering to flip it around each time so if there is a slight unevenness to the shelf, the tray getting turned will help even out the uneven water updraw. ❤🌱

Thank you so much for taking the pains to do this complete process walk through for cabbage. This by far the best video I've seen on the subject and packed with useful information about the tools and process. This will be my second winter growing micro greens for home consumption and didn't have much success last year with the brassicas (except for mustard), so will give your process a try. I mainly have used hemp mats for the smaller seeds and Promix for the larger seeds like peas and sunflowers. I tried Coco Coir because it's a renewable resource, but didn't have great success with this medium. I can see that perhaps it's your watering technique that's the key, so I'll give it another try. Very much looking forward to more of your videos. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the support and the kind words, it really means a lot to us! Yeah we like using different mediums for different crops as well! For some reason, we just always seem to have really great results with Coco coir, but I’m excited to try out some more pro mix grows soon to compare against. If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!!

Love the videos, Mandy. Thanks for sharing! Little trick I use to spread the seeds evenly are different sized glass spice jars with lids that are easily removed. I just clean, sterilize, and dry. I wouldn't recommend plastic as residual aromas linger. Some spice jars lids are more course than others and depending on the seeds, I just use different size holes in the lids. Also think they look cool in a spice rack and make for quick seeding :) Keep on growing on.

Thank you so much Mark for the kind words, it really does mean a lot to us. We will have a lot more information coming all throughout 2020 and we're excited to hit the ground running... We felt the same way about a lot of the RU-vid video's and the frustration of trying to get some solid answers and techniques... so we committed to sharing everything we learn openly that way people didn't have to go through the same frustration. Sharing it openly just seems like the right thing to do. As for how many trays you can get out of a single brick... if we use the shallow trays like in this video, we can get about 18 I think. If you use the 2.5" deep trays I would say 7-10 trays. Still, at ~$5.00 per brick, that is pretty good value! Thank you so much for the support!!

@@OnTheGrow Hi, just wanted to jump in on this thread to clarify your answer to Mark's question. You say about $5 per brick to fill 7 - 10 2.5" trays? Do you mean $25? Lovely video series, by the way. I love the heart that you put into this, and the detail is so helpful for the many of those just getting our feet wet in this area.

I’ve been researching micro greens and indoor gardening for a few days now, I want to do something good for my life partner who is heavily into more natural ways of living even though we’re currently stuck in the big city and he’s been eating a lot of trashy food lately. I’d just like to thank you for participating in my education on this subject; I want to buy him the means to start gardening again even with our limited means and terrible yard; it won’t be much at first, but I hope this becomes a beginning to a healthier, happier lifestyle with the one I love. I’d like to ask, if possible, please post more recipe videos. Your vegan burger was inspiring. Also, if you do any more growing tutorials for other kinds of crops, I’ll be returning for them.. I may be a city boy, (even if my love is closer to being a wood nymph, lol) but when I set my mind to really learning something, it’s damn near impossible to stop me. ❤️ Have a great day~

Lol, sounds like we have the same drive when we set our minds to something! Yeah, we will get some more recipes together and add that to our video list! The great thing about microgreens is that you don't need a lot of space to grow some seriously amazing tasting and super healthy produce! It is perfect for people in the city really. They have such a fast growing rate and provide huge harvests... It's hard to avoid that junky food, so when we cheat and eat some, we just load it up with microgreens to make it "healthy" :) Thank you for the support!!

On The Grow I have an update! 😊 So I decided I’d come back and share. I got a whole growing kit of supplies together and gave it to my partner as an early Valentine’s Day present. I’m happy to say that, because of this channel and other micro green growers who made encouraging guides and inspiring recipes, it was a success! My partner loved the Japanese daikon we grew! He said the earthy, slightly spicy flavor was really good, and he decided to have them in a salad. I felt almost like a proud parent, watching the little seeds sprout and grow like wildfire, it was so gratifying to know that we grew something good together! I also had my partner watch your videos, too, and we’re discussing plans to do more growing together both inside and outside. We’re even going to try making other things! It’ll be so fun! We just bought a bag of sunflower seeds for more micro greens and we’re going to be using a brand new tray to grow a nice big bunch of them. I hope they’re as yummy as you make them look in your guide videos, I’m so excited!!!

You guys pack in so much great knowledge in your videos. Thanks again. I was wondering how long do you typically refrigerate your crops after harvest before selling them? Also, do you put the recommended max storage time on your packaging when you sell (like a best if used by date)? Thx!

This is interesting me so much I wonder if I could really make a profit out of this but you guys good videos thanks for the informative videos !!
@OnTheGrow
@OnTheGrow 4 года назад
It's quite surprising how easy it is to make a profit from these! They grow incredibly abundantly, and even if you sell them for very cheap, you can make a profit generally. It all comes down to your ability to market and sell the product which is pretty easy too! Once people hear how nutritious they are, and they taste them... it's basically a sale at that point. You can look around locally and see if people are selling them. Check Farmer's markets, grocery stores, ask your friends family if they have heard of them and if they would want to try some... There are so many ways you can sell such as to restaurants, to grocery chains(requires a lot more work), to distributors, to individuals (So many different options here), you can sell to CSA's and so on. It will be a long while before this market is tapped... Thanks for the support!

I used to do all the kitchen orders at this fine dining restaurant. Whatever was needed I'd make a list and then call in the order from their four major suppliers Meat/Fish/Produce and a Wholesale company that sold everything else. One of our most expensive orders were these microgreens, they were a vital component in the restaurants menu and were used heavily on the app station as the standard house salad, a baby arugula salad and especially to garnish. If you think a regular basil leaf flower looks good on top of pasta pomodoro just picture a few micro baby basil instead, it looks sexier and rejuvenates an already classic dish. But we never ordered them from our produce supplier, we had to order them from a separate supplier who only supplied microgreens. They were called "Cookstown Greens", and I always pictured this company to be this huge farmland with acres of crop a mile long, located up north in a community that had a proud culture in agriculture. I recently visited Cookstown an it was anything but that. It was your typical normal looking suburb community that had your typical middle class culture. Now Cookstown Greens was inside this normal looking home whose business operations were all done in their basement. A house inside a suburban community was the cities major supplier of microgreens, their neighbours had no clue they were farmers, lol!

Outstanding video! I have a similar growing technique. Any thoughts on ways to avoid disturbing the seeds in the first three days to mist? I find some uniformity issues by seeds being pulled up. Also, would a flat bottom weighted top result in a more consistent germination?
@OnTheGrow
@OnTheGrow 4 года назад
Thank you so much for the support! We haven’t hardly had any issues by lifting the trays to mist them for the first few days, but some mediums don’t do so well with it... We are actually running some trials right now where we are leaving the trays alone for the first 3 days to see how well they germinate without us tending to them everyday, twice a day. I think that a flat bottom would help with germination, but I think those slight ridges do help with airflow so I’m not sure if it could negatively effect the germination by taking out those ridges. We did try putting a piece of plastic (acting as a flat bottom for a tray) and we ended up having weird smells because I think it had very poor airflow... So it is hard to say really... I feel like the slight ridges do help with germination and we get nearly 100% germination for most of our crops using the ridged trays... Thanks again for the support!

First, I want to thank you for sharing your process, is very useful and I appreciate it. Growing microgreens for 1 year now and after starting to follow your channel, I changed my process and was the most positive thing I made, now my microgreens are a lot better than ever. One question, you bottom watering morning and evening, do you use OceanSolution nutriment only on the morning of both times per day ?
