The first reason was because Kow Yokoyama san said, "hey these are good, you should buy one!" so I did. They are interesting but I don't think all round as useful. They aren't sharp so much as "harder" than plastic so good for scraping edges and won't cut your hands. Well, I haven't found a way to cut myself yet but maybe I'm just not trying hard enough! Come in a variety of shapes too, this one I have is a basic version.

I must admit I'm more taken with the fact it's a ceramic knife than it's potential usefulness...
