Up in that space between rocks is a pretty good hide at that angle and camouflage low visibility unless infa-red at night is a factor but profile is pretty minimal, I had thought maybe it might be a bridge for a snake but that seems unlikely. The rocks would hold heat for a while after dark desert camping the area kinda reminded me of Joshua Tree park.
