My battery not only went dead but it would not take a charge. I use this computer around a outlet anyway, so I thought why not just get rid of the battery. The charger had such a small port that it kept on bending or just would not stay in. It would keep kicking the computer off so I just hardwired it. I hope this helps you the way it helped me. I did a couple of ours through the battery terminals because the power sockets were glued in (acer 9400 IIRC , acer seem to like to do that and they are incredibly hard to remove even if broken). They have worked ever since (about 3 years )

2 points, #1 the laptop sound driver circuit is not powerful enough to drive a large stereo speaker and the impedance will not match most likely, #2 So how did you bypass the battery pins ? Doesn't the battery have multiple hookup pins ? And aren't some of those battery pins used for interconnect which verifies the correct battery is installed ?

I have a question, I have a guitar amp that uses the same type of powersupply. The power jack broke so I cant plug in the cord. The jack has been discontinued so I cant replace it. Can I use this same method to hard wire in the power supply?

Of course you could also always solder any type of Male connection into the power supply and the corresponding female connector onto the amp system

Do you have a broken piece of equipment that can donate a jack? If so just use the jack from it, and swap the connector end from its power supply to your power supply that goes to the amp just hook the wire up with a union splice and put some shrink tube on it and you will be good to go and it will be fixed and even look decent.

interesting with that crayon, but I would have just used a hot melt glue gun (or silicone sealant, or even 1 minute epoxy) to protect the wires.

check the polarity. red needs to be on positive inside plug. most common the inner part is positive and outer is ground.

Hey there, i dont know are you still alive there? but i have a question. I was following your steps and it works now.. But my question is there are 3 holes Positive Negative and Ground.. 2 holes are close to each other i guess it is neggative and ground. What happens if i solder neggative and ground together? Is there any risk about it? Because it seems like you have also together soldered. My laptop works fine right now. Negative and ground soldered together and positive apart from them.

it is positive, negative, and neutral. on the bus bar for most elec panels in your home there are are white and green wires. black and red will be positive, green is ground and white is neutral . since white and green can be connected to the same bus bar. ( thus a plug with two pins or three like your tv,or ext cord. ) the it will work either way. you can have them connected, or just use the two wires. you will be fine. alternating current ( ac) allows this . direct current ( dc ) does not. in short yes, you will be good. thanks for watching. great question!! ps my heart is still beating. ha thanks again.

thomas brian thank you for your quick retutn. I had a laptop withouy battery, at the end power socket also got broken, so i decided to keep it in my dusty basement till i saw your video. Thank you for your bright idea. my laptop is back again after months.. I was just worried about connecting two cables together. it works fine but better to ask if there is a risk :)) Thank you....

I have 7 wires, it has a light indicator with it. 2 black wires (assuming they're neg) The wire that goes to center isn't red, should I just go ahead and use it...test it out? Also,do you think it would be safe to use a 12v output for a laptop intended to for 19.5v input?

+Em Hauk from 19.5 to 12, your ok. but if the lap top needed 12 volt and you put in 19.5 then you would have a problem. how ever 12 volt may not be enough. your not gonna hurt it to try it because its less. but im guessing it wont be enough. as for the wiring , im not sure without seeing where they go and what they come from.sorry about that. just be sure not to hook anything up backwards, even 12 volt would fry it then. good luck.thanks for watching. and please let update us all.

can someone please help me. the piece he took out and called it the ground..can that Little piece be replaced are do i have to replace the motherboard? I was taking out the power cord the that little piece came out with the power cord.

OK so the original out is 19.5v 3.34A so the hard wire can it be 14.5v safe to assume not to wire the 19.5 correct?

my asus laptop battery is not working . I urgently need to acces files on my hard drive and buying a new battery is currently not an option. can you please tell me how to turn the laptop on without battery;only on ac supply( laptop doesn't turn on if I remove the battery and connect the power chord). I will heavily appreciate any help.

it should turn on with or without the battery, it sounds like you may have blew the fuse. open the back look wherre the 12 volt adapter plugs in, follow the leads to a fuse,

thomas brian when I plug in the battery and power chord it turns on for a few seconds. and then shuts off. without battery and with power chord it doesn't turn on. I'll follow what you just said.

thomas brian I was encountering the same problem a month ago. I left the laptop for a month and then started it( battery and a.c. chord in). Laptop turned on for 5 minutes amd then turned off. I'll follow what you said and then reply

I have same situation...my thin laptop with build in / non removable battery, only turn on for a sec then suddenly turned off if powered by ac adapter without internal battery installed...

No offense but that's kind of ignorant for a couple reasons 1 the way laptops are designed is kind of like a true online UPS system the power comes in feeds the laptop charging unit goes into the battery if the batteries fully charged it does power the laptop and you can power a laptop without a battery however if there's any kind of glitch from the power coming into the laptop the software and data is far more susceptible to corruption as the laptop will immediately try to switch over to the battery supply to compensate however it's not able to do that the reason why it does this is because in a normal computer two power supplies got enough power and reserved that even when the power dips coming in it's just enough to keep everything going in a laptop it doesn't work that way

I don’t think this is the case, the only thing he’s really bypassing is the plug itself which shouldn’t be too much of an issue as long as you don’t touch anything else on either the charger and motherboard. All adapters and resistors should still be there. Is it the best idea? Probably not. Most dc adapters for laptops aren’t really meant to last and need to be replaced after some time , so just remember how you did it and don’t leave it plugged in all the time.
