Always remember, that animals have feelings and feel loss as well as humans. So if you are grieving over someone close or a pet, so will be the animal. The pets are however in a far worse situation, since when you understand what happened and that it was inevitable, pets are confused and lost. I used to always have animals in pairs, and unfortunately not long after one passed, the other was joining them, despite our best efforts to comfort them and be with them. I guess it's like with humans as well. I know many cases where husband/wife died and their other half followed within a year.
I just lost my 15year old English staffy to old age 3 wks ago :( and now my 13 year old staffy is having severe separation anxiety and depression. They were together every day for over 13 years. Inside at night and outside in day times. I’m leaving for work early morning he’s got tears coming from eyes and he’s now started weeing him self as I leave.he ripped the security screen of tried digging thru concrete till his nails and pads were worn and bleeding. He’s been put on all this medication who ever thinks they don’t grieve or have feelings don’t no anything.
My father passed away on 7-3-21. He and my Miniature Schnauzer were best friends and spent every day together while I worked. Since my father’s passing, Pepper has become very clingy and anxious.
My 14+ year old Rottweiler-Chow mix passed away this past Friday (2 days ago). I had a rescue puppy (a 6 month old black lab-apbt mix) come live with us 6 months ago, and he seemed to look towards her as a surrogate mom in a way. He's just a year old now and is so sad with her gone. I never realized that a puppy so young would bond with an much older dog so strongly. We lost our beloved Butters two months ago he was 17 suffering from renal failure. Our chiweenie (8) and Butters were best friends. It breaks my heart seeing her grieving like this. She seems fine in walks but gets really depressed when we're home
Just lost my alpha oldest Pittie, his little brother caught a whiff of his scent and immediately started looking for him. He’s been barking and howling non stop for a few hours now.
Six months later there’s 5 thumbs down. Actually that’s not bad. Let’s remember that some people have different reasons for not liking a certain video. Even though there’s a lot of bad videos out there in terms of content, I never give a thumbs down.
My mom recently passed away and I took in her 15 yo malamute. He’s been having a hard time adjusting, especially at night he constantly howls. I wish there was something I could do to help him 💔😢
I lost my 15yr old Rusty, yesterday afternoon suddenly while at the vet. I brought him back home so My parents and 6yr old Scooby can see him and we could bury him in the backyard. I think my Scooby hought Rusty was just sleeping even after I wrapped him up and took him to the hole to be buried. Scooby even went over to smell him as I was burying him. Then at night I grabbed Rustys collar, he heard it, ran over, smelled it and got excited and started looking around 😥 . Then today, he was just laying around near the front door most of the day, waiting for Rusty to come home 😢 😭. When I walked him, he seemed unusual sniffing everythjng and then looking around and then at one point kept going without sniffing anything and he just led us back home. I feel so bad for my Scooby.
My 17yo Jack Russel, Gracie was euthanised this Monday due to constant stomach/ingestion health issues that kept impacting her quality of life, and our other Jack Russel (Charlie), a 12yo is very low energy and depressed now that his buddy is gone :( We didn’t do it at home because we didn’t know how he’d react to the vet, so I wonder what he thinks of Gracie getting into our car and disappearing…

So sorry to hear this I am in the same position. I am trying to keep the same routine so everything does not appear lost. I keep her beside me when on the sofa and she sleeps with me too. I am very fortunate that I am home with her all day and I make a fuss of her as often as I can. We go on long walks which she really enjoys. Despite this she still appears sad, so I try to make even more effort. I do hope your dog recovers 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
I lost my miniature male poodle of Complications of liver failure 12 weeks ago age 9😢 I had to have him put to rest. his sister still looks for him now some days more than others.
We have 2 dogs, they've known each other pretty much their entire lives.The problem is they have started fighting over specific toys and the larger of the 2 is starting to steal the smaller one's food. Toys aren't too bad as we can just take them away if they get possessive over it, but food is a issue that even after months of trying to fix it, is only getting worse. We were thinking about giving the larger of the 2 to my sister, who has the time and skill to train him better than we can. I really worry about how they will react to being separated especially after growing up together. They're only a year old and we got them around the same time as puppies.
For context, I'm 17 and live with my mom, stepdad, and 3 younger siblings (ages 11, 14 and 1). My older sister is 24 living with her husband and his parents.
Our nearly 14 year old dog just passed. Our 7year old dog knew her his entire life and they were inseparable. I've left her bed and blanket and food bowls out in hopes that it will help him to still be able to get her scent. How long should I keep her bed? Is there a point which this is no longer helpful and can hurt him in the grieving process?

My dogs mom passed away yesterday on mother's day it's only been 24hrs but he's been looking for her thru the house,he has other siblings but he's not associated with them since them. Should I be worried about him because I know he's sad,it was his mom he was very close to her. She was my oldest granddaughter dog had her for ten yrs
@@O.ynx12 He died😭last year ... When his companion died he always waited for him outside . Because his companion was attacked by a snake and when they both home. one is like having difficulty breathing. they run at fields maybe the other one was attacked by snake😔. When his companion or brother passed away he always stared outside our home waiting for him to return. I guess animals dont know what death is. They are both in dog heaven now. 😭😭😭
