There’s nothing more sad than watching a relative drink themselves slowly to death. Alcohol is a nasty drug. There’s nothing you can do if one’s relative has no desire to quit, nothing.

Alcoholism is a nasty disease, like any disease if it’s left long enough it’s becomes chronic and you it eventually kills you, catch It early there’s a chance , it’s a sly Fox it creeps up fast , once the brain chemistry is altered it becomes very hard to manage, not something everyone can fight , it’s a demon, the alcoholic suffers horribly, as does all those that loves them .

tough love is part of the answer. Often bailing people out of trouble including financial trouble just enables them to suffer longer.
@BeautifulOnes876
@BeautifulOnes876 3 месяца назад
Not with alcohol. Your people suffering from alcoholism doesn’t need “tough love”, you’ll be enabling him by HURTING them. They need a lot of support. Make sure you they know you love them and you’re there, you’re not going to let them fall. Talk to them about what’s really got them, because alcoholism is a symptom of a greater problem they have.

I am dealing with this situation with a loved one who is in serious denial. He cannot hold a job, is squatting in an abandoned house, forgets to eat during binges, gets aggressive, etc. It is bad, but half the family are enablers, others are scared to get involved, and the few like me, don't know what to do. If someone even mentions rehab, it provokes a reaction like WW3!

My relative had relapsed into binge drinking 3 times in 5 months and now they done it again and have been going at it since last week. I'm so tired of their impulsiveness and lack of self control that I just don't care anymore, because there's notning I can do and I'm not going to baby an adult so they can come back to their senses. You cannot make anyone stop drinking or want to stop. Watch person in family household stumbling drunk every night. It's like they want us to see them drunk and there is nothing we can do. Why do they drink? Because they want to.

Just do what I did. I was drinking every night and then one day I just said no more. That was over 5 years ago and I haven't died (LOL) . People keep telling me you should to go to counselling or AA and I tell them I'm my own counsellor so get lost. Staying away is not a big deal and I don't even drink when the lads(Leafs) or Argos are playing and that used to be mandatory.

My stepfather not even my real bio dad but my stepfather, was analholic, and he went through barely any trauma, and he went on to keep a roof over our heads and everything else money but he abused us in everyway he stole money from mom, and got booted out, and booted out of multiple, and went to jail 5 times, if he going to say that alcohol did it to him, yah no makes no sense whatsoever, no yo did that to your self, don't blame a substance, you chose to to do this.
