Yep, coach put me in high jump for the meet tomorrow and I suck so badly I cant even make opening height so I am going to try and learn this overnight Update: Damn RU-vid just notified me NOW of these replies 😅😂 Glad to know I wasn’t the only one! If you’re wondering what happened, I did not even make it close to opening height and ended up jumping STRAIGHT into the bar all 3 attempts 😂
ive been quarantined and my first day out of quarantine (tomorrow) is a track meet. I’m not too worried about the running because i ran on my own i however happened to forget high jump as it is my first year doing it. This video was literally a life saver thank you so much.
thank you for this. I really wanted to do high jump by I suck at it so the coach told me not to do it and I wanna prove her wrong. I know I can do it. thank you for the tips
@@masonmcgee6842 But generally a coach can tell if this suits u or not. The coach wasn't trying to demotivate them, they were saying "Hey, this isn't for u, maybe try x"
Everyone else’s is like ‘Coach put me in high jump 😥’ and my reason is I’m doing this is bc I’m doing a jump worksheet in lockdown for online school .-.
yeah that's really good, especially since your thirteen and this is your first season. I found that my second season was A LOT better than my first. Everything seemed to click. Have fun high jumping! :)
thanks so much for posting this it really helped me ... my coaches just told me I was doing high jump without any instructions so I was very confused before this video
My advice would be to watch many many competitions, and observe their technique. That way you'll understand high jump better. Never take tips from one athlete only, as they grow they change their technique into what suits them better. Their tips might not work for u, you have to find out yourself
+World Sport .. Im in eigth grade and i am jumpng 6'1 (which is the best in the country) but i need help not rising my head when i kick my legs, can you help with that?
I am 12 years old and my personal best is 1.22 metres. I want to jump higher but when I get closer to the bar on my run up it's nerve racking! Are there any tips on jumping higher?
BittyThread1983 Gaming Send me a video of you jumping... Went to an olympic camp this summer, and learned a lot of new necessary tips for jumping... i can help.
+AboveTheRim11 OK will do and can you please tell me if I'm doing the Frozby Flop or however you spell it right cos I'm not sure. It can't be this week but I will aim for the next OK?
nice and simple, just perfect for this old man that has not competed in 30+ years. i just needed a refresher for tomorrow in 12 hours and that 14 step J is what i needed to know. i'm 59 years old btw...
I'm doing high jump in sports day tomorrow, I did it in Y7 and Y8 so it will be my third year doing it and through that time I've only had 2 lessons of high jump. On in Y7 and one in Y9-bit nervous :/ ;) :) Thanks for this, hope I remember it :)
actually im not meaning to be annoying but the difference between highjump spikes and sprint spikes is that sprint spikes help you gather more speed by positioning you on your balls of your feet and highjump spikes help you gain more spring by doing the same thing in a different way as sometimes you will drop to your heels which is why they have spikes there
tomorrow i have an exam of the high jump and i only had the chance to try it once ! so it must be pretty hard but thanks for the video anyway ! it helps alot ^-^
This helped alot. I'm 5"10 15 years old its my first time ever doing it and I can get about 5"5. But I think I can go higher since I've watched this because I clear it it's just y feet hit it. But thanks:)
i am watching this because i signed up to do high jump in a school Sports Day thinking we'd be able to practice. it's two days away and we're getting zero practice. I don't know how they expect me to do a high jump with no prior practice.
@@anko_dtm Same going here Anko, but my determination helped me clear some bars and I tried searching about the internet for some help and asked my parents to help me do training with me. It's all about trying your best!
Reading through the comments brought back my irritation with some of the coaches I used to coach against. They have little to no knowledge on an event and just tells someone they are doing it the next day. I have no clue how many boys I talked to about their approach as they were almost missing the mat - some did, and coaches no where to be seen
Wait when you are looking for your j, you have to start from that stand and run in a j and have to count 8 steps. And that 8 step is where you want to mark it with the chalk.
Hey there, You can actually grow 2-4 inches in vertical jump in just 2 weeks by following the appropriate training system & have a good eating plan. My buddy gained 9 inches in just 3 months and now he can 360 dunk with two hands.
I'm new to this and I'm scared to jump and hurt my back, how do I get over that fear? Also I had my first meet a couple days ago and I was jumping vertically which I know is wrong but my body wasn't trying to risk it😭so what she I do
You don't need a cirkle, you just need some tape, how tall you are. Test how many steps you need to take and talk with a coach or someone that is experienced.
they couldn't find someone from my team on sports day so they randomly picked me as the representative. i have never done anything remotely close to this activity before so im not prepared at all. ill update how this goes 😭
For real I have sports day tomorrow and am sleeping then I dream about it then I realize I'm do high jump and triple jump and I don't know what to do in them
This video is very helpful but poorly recorded, It would have been much more effective if you had pit more time and effort into professional recording the great tips you gave.
never give up! I am 13 y/o but I did worst then you although I am kinda tall compare to my other friends and actually i am the tallest in my class but I am the worst jumper, runner and everything 'bout sport..and it is very dissapointed because lots of people who didn't really know me expect me to be good at sport because of my height and because I am slim but I am the opposite of it..That's why I decided to escape whenever sport day or sprint race but this year I learnt that I'll just tried my very best and enjoy and that is enough. I don't even care about what other think of me any longer ( well a little bit ). And at least you tried! ^^
+Ashlynn Sania Yea, I'm glad you haven't given up! And don't, you never know maybe someday you will be excellent. It took me a while to master 1.20 metres. I'm sorry if others judge you.
