I noticed on contact your paddle face is slightly open rather than straight up and down, aka 90 degrees from the ground. I do this naturally myself, but wondered if that was wrong. Seems to work okay for me but I’m not as consistent as I like. Do you agree it should be slightly open on contact to give yourself some surface margin for error to brush with?

Yes you can leave it slightly open to catch more, absolutely!

Your opponents cannot volley it out of the air, so it lets you come in quicker!

This will allow you to get to the kitchen since it is bouncing. The drive they can pick out of the air!
