Man... Thanks so much for these tips, I had big problems with my serve, watched thousand videos on RU-vid on this topics but never got good results. I tried your tips during my two last tennis sessions and this is just amazing!!! I always tossed my ball to the right...the simple fact to toss it a bit more to the left, with the pronation and the elbow high in the end works perfectly! Crazy! I still need to improve that, but that's the first time I fell I'm on the good way. Thanks again!!!!

Just amazing videos. Feel like after watching hundreds of ours of more or less usefull videos I have finally found a guy here who really knows how to easily break down the moves in tennis. It simply all works out - every single tip. And you do not have to go through tons of blablabla. Thanks so much for just bringing it to the point. I am currently training my 5 year old son and he so needs to learn that stuff right from the beginning. Thanks, thanks, thanks to tenfitmen :)))

Good tips, I have been tossing more at 12 o'clock instead of the usual 1pm people always talk about, and my contact is always low due to the 45 degrees angle of pronation and stretched out more to the right, I needed to lower the contact point becoz of that bad toss.

Excellent instruction tips as usual, it's very helpful. You mentioned loose wrist and arm. How about the tension level of the grip? How loose you hold the racket when you serve generally? On a scale from 1 to 10, about what number you hold the racket before contacting the ball and what number when contacting the ball?

Hey Milan, i always find your content great and rich, I love it. Just a word of caution, I think you should warn people that in order to do this serve you should do some arm and shoulder conditioning. You sure do but for the average tennis player this is an injury waiting to happen, they’ll serve great for some months, maybe the best of their lives, and then the shoulder gets injured with the violent nature of this motion. Just my two cents....keep the good work!

It's great advice. Most people mistakenly believe pros aren't making contact at an angle like that, but it's very clear in slow motion. It's actually one of the few things a teaching pro showed people at an event I attended last week. He said most people get that part wrong. It must be satisfying getting your student to finally hit a few solid ones. They all must be fairly excited they can hit much harder than they thought when that happens.

Thanks Milan, the tips are very useful. I'm going to try them out next time I get on the court. You said in your bonus tip that this serve is better to serve to your opponent's backhand(for a righthander). Which serve would you use to serve to the opponent's right-hand side? Slice serve or another hard flat serve? Also, do you have a video on slice serve?
@dennisthegreek5336
@dennisthegreek5336 3 года назад
I think that serving to the right-hand of the opponent is quite hard with a flat serve, because it demands a slightly greater torso rotation between the toss and the hit moments. A slice serve is easier for me and almost as effective as a flat serve, because the spin achieves better angles, making up for the slightly slower speed.

@RadfordPiano
@RadfordPiano 3 года назад
It worked! I've been trying to find the "pop" sound on my serve for years. I realized from your video that I was doing the pronation the wrong way, kind of like 'painting the fence', and once I tried it your way, like shaking a thermometer, it started popping. I got even more pop by realizing that I needed to rise up all the way from the knee bend before bringing the racket through, so it lags, and not at the same time. Anyway, thanks for the tip. Yay! How do you apply this pronation to kick, slice and topspin serves? Is it the same?

high elbow follow through was an interesting tip I have not heard about before, thank you! I can't wait to try it. How about the non dominant arm foliding into the body at the same time when you make impact? I notice you do it but quickly move it to your left side like Dominic Thiem does. But the student demonstrating was swinging her left arm out to the left of her body without it folding into the body until the 5th or so serve when you did a replay on it slow motion. Then she occasionally folded in partially or briefly before letting it fly to the left and the very last one that you commented again "that's the one" she noticeably folded in her arms upon impact and then swung the arm again out to the left. What is your opinion about creating more force on the ball by abruptly stopping the upper body using the left arm just as you are using the right arm by bending it to 90 degrees right after follow through? Aren't they each adding to the speed of the ball and don't all pros do at least the folding of the arm initially into the body upon impact? I will have to look to see if they bend their elbows with their right arm upon follow through.

@erichuang2310
@erichuang2310 3 года назад
Of these tips, I think keeping a loose arm is the best one. Very hard to have a consistent toss "a little to the left" at the recreational level, especially when playing outdoors and there is even a slight breeze. Impossible to change one's follow-through with have a high elbow finish (like Pete Sampras does). Your student has a nice serve motion and just needs to practice tossing slightly more in front so there is forward weight transfer at contact, and contacting higher up on the ball so that less spin is imparted and it drops lower over the net. The "popping" sound comes from making solid flat contact in the sweet spot instead of brushing.
@chinaski5
@chinaski5 2 года назад
One question: how would you modify this motion for the slice or kick serve? Don’t we still need the power to execute those serves?
@roybatty2268
@roybatty2268 Год назад
Whatever your motion is for slice or kick, you still add pronation. So it is more like "Hey coach, how would you modify my slice serve by adding this pronation of the forearm bones motion?" The answer is add the pronation. It's the physics of the biomechanics that makes the pronation amplify the speed of the racket head. Dialing in the control of these elements is the next part now that you know what to do.
