Great video! Are there different chiseling techniques /methods when working with basalt and granite, or are they similar to the techniques/methods used for sculpting limestone and marble?
Hey thanks! Yes there are different chiselling techniques for granite and similar hard stones. Especially when using the point chisel. It is usually held at 90 degree to the surface of the stone.
Looking back at your videos, I see the fourth style of grip that you are using. I was not seeing all I should have. Totally new way to me (I was using the first style for letter carving). Your way so many advantages. I am switching to it and know it will feel normal eventually. Thank you for the detailed nature of your tutorials!
Always happy to help David! Be aware that changing to the fourth grip will eventually end up in blisters at the beginning. you ca use some tape to protect your finger.
