If you get an r4 card and play through ranger a bunch you can effectively limit the amount you need to reset your save files. I bought 6 copies of ranger online and used an r4 for the rest of my eggs so I could hatch 8 per save file. That being said you still need to trade and hatch the eggs over and over it just makes the encounters feel like they're going up significantly faster.

@@ThedomiNATION that's a valid point! You still have to make new save files though each time you trade it over though for the new TID, correct? When I did the first Surfing Pichu, I made sure to do it in-game on an actual American Pokemon Box. The natural process is something else lol.

Yes you do have to make new save files you just get more hatches per save file. I'm all for super rare shinies so I plan to do Jirachi and return to Manaphy at some point!

I meant changing the frame of the chat-boxes. Turns out i was just flat out wrong, you don't need to wait between saving each time :p

Unfortunately to use the Celebi disc you have to have beaten the elite four on a Japanese copy of Ruby/Sapphire and caught every single shadow Pokémon in a Japanese copy of Colosseum and be using the same memory card the colosseum save file is on when you put the Celebi disc in. You could SR for it but it’s gonna take a lot more effort

Just to add, i was having trouble getting this to work- it worked on my first corruption attempt but all other ones I’d be left with the Pokédex being 2 even after corruption and i had to straight start a new file at least 7x. Here’s what i came to find Before even receiving the jirachi, just after getting the Pokédex, I’d only been saving once. Just to be super over the top, I’d changed the text frame saved 5x, then powered off. After a few tries, toned it down and only changed the frame once and saved once. Received jirachi, then did a SR (I’d only been powering the console off and on again as a hard reset), then did the up select b file corruption, then it said i only had 1 in the dex. Idk which of those aspects really made that much of a difference, but after that i changed the frame, saved, changed the frame again, and saved a second time to be super sure. I then tried to receive the jirachi again and it worked, different nature and stats 5x in a row. So idk what the biggest factor in there was for me, but doing a soft reset rather than a hard reset may have been a component, i may have also saved after starting the file once I’d checked the jirachi on some failed attempts as well. Hopefully this helps some people troubleshoot a bit more!!

It isn’t guaranteed to work every time. Maybe it’s just down to timing. I would keep trying making sure you save twice before receiving Jirachi as I have heard doing that makes it the most consistent

@@NitroNinja324 I found it on Ebay back in 2016. Not sure if I wanna let go of it though. I think the GC-GBA link cable is just as difficult to get. It might take a while but if you check online once in a while you should find it eventually

Yes that is true. Jirachi has a set of pre determined combinations that you can get instead of true rng and 9 of them happen to be shiny. It makes the odds of getting the shiny slightly higher than full odds though!

Nothing has really changed much outside of now knowing you need to save twice every time before connecting to the bonus disc in order to be able to load a backup save successfully! I haven’t started hunting this yet as I have a lot of projects I’m currently working on. But I’ll definitely stream the hunt here on RU-vid and Twitch when I get around to it!

I've been told that a dry battery does not affect the rng of Jirachi because its rng is totally different from the rest of the game. You can always check to see if the nature and stats change after doing it twice.

I’m honestly not sure. The jirachi you get is from a set of pre determined jirachi but I wouldn’t know if the dead battery affects that rng. I would recommend replacing the battery just in case! There’s special battery holders you can get on like eBay that you can solder in and then never have to worry about it ever again as the battery is simply held in and not soldered in!

I keep having this issue. It doesn't seem to matter if its too fast or too slow. I've gone fast and it happens and I've gone slow but it still happens. Sometimes It'll work 10-20 times a in a row and then without warning or reason bam, it wont work and I need to restart the game 3-4 times without it working again. Its not clear if its user error or method error at the moment but damn having to restart the file without a clear reason why is really starting to eat at me.

I've heard people say that after they save multiple times and change the frame of the menu, it can work every time. But I have not tested this yet.

Sorry that this is a bit later, but I started my hunt today and I’m running into a lot of this problem. I feel like I’ve tried everything - saving five times, saving five times with frame changes between, saving twice with a frame change between, no frame change, delaying/speeding up the hard reset I do to attempt to corrupt the file, nothing seems to help. I was able to do it the first couple times but after that it’s just been straight tragedy (only gotten it twice since, I’ve probably restarted the game 30 times today). The only thing I can think of being the problem is that my internal battery is dead - was yours?

@@samuellish My current situation mirrors yours exactly. My Sapphire has a dry internal battery. 11 successful corruption resets and now 3 in a row that simply do not work. Nothing noticeably different on my end. If this keeps happening my run is DOA

I would assume all English copies work the same. That being said I looked it up and the GameCube/Wii are region locked. Also I tried this on a Japanese copy of Ruby and it didn’t work

I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the timing on which you’re turning your game off while deleting the save file?

Are you saving twice before redeeming the Jirachi as well? I’m doing this hunt now myself and how it’s going for me is save twice, redeem Jirachi, check for shiny, if not shiny, corrupt save, save twice to overwrite the corruption. Then redeem another Jirachi, repeat. Basically all the points mentioned in this video but I save twice both before the redeem and after the corruption.

I’ve had comments that said changing the color of your menu frame can make it work consistently

I was on my second cycle through the Game Boy Player while tired and just blanked and let the file erase. Was able to do the first cycle using only the Reset button on the GameCube instead of the power button, which saves the GameCube boot frames. Basically the same time to attempt

I explain the cable you need at the beginning of the first video. The colosseum bonus disc is completely different from colosseum the game so you do not need to play the game at all. There's no special software for the Wii. Just put the disc in and it'll load normally.

i didn't have the cable, gamecube, or the bonus disc in real life but i was able to shiny hunt jirachi on the dolphin and visual boy emulator and it work i was able to to get a shiny jirachi and made a back up file to put it into my ruby game on my ds lite

Once you get the shiny, if you save a couple more times, it should be completely fine, as saving overwrites the corrupted save

@@ThedomiNATION Just confirmed you can connect a Wii with the bonus disk to a GameCube running the GameBoy Player, and the distribution does still work. Couldn't get the save corruption to work with the reset button, not sure if I just mistimed it or I need to try a hard reset.

@@n0lain that’s crazy that you can connect it. As for the corruption. I would try powering off the GameCube entirely instead of resetting. And I would try it a few times just to be safe

@@ThedomiNATION Just did that and it is confirmed to work :-) tested twice. Hard reset is required, which does add some time to the reset in my case since I'm using a hacked memory card with a Melee disc rather than an official GameBoy Player boot disk, about 20 seconds total added from the GameCube logo animation + booting into Melee and menuing. I know the hacked memory cards work with other game discs too, and some might have slightly faster menuing. Not sure how fast hard resets are with the official boot disc, would be interested to find out if anyone else can test. Very cool that this is an option, makes streaming/recording the hunt a lot easier

It should! The only issue with Pokémon channel is that you cannot receive jirachi in Ruby or sapphire until you beat the elite 4. So if the save file doesn’t corrupt properly, you’ll have to play through the entire game again!

@@m3x_repel yeah lol. Not many people have attempted the Pokémon channel jirachi but it allegedly is complete rng and will have unique stats and nature as opposed to the colosseum bonus disc Jirachi which can only be a set of like 9 pre determined shiny jirachi that you can potentially get!

Yes but it’s a lot riskier as I’ve heard to get the Pokémon channel jirachi you have to beat the elite 4 first in Ruby/Sapphire. Meaning if the save file corruption doesn’t work and doesn’t load your game before you already received jirachi, then you’d have to beat the entire game again

You do not have to play through the game cube came. The bonus disc is only a few menus and demos I’ve of which includes the Busch m Jirachi. I made this video and I don’t even own colosseum

@@ThedomiNATION Ah I see, I think I have mixed that up with Pokemon Channel. At least on the wiki it says you have to play through that one in order to transfer a Jirachi. Similar to Manaphy except you are not limited to only 1 Jirachi per copy.

@@xSkail yeah Pokémon channel you have to play through and you also have to beat the elite 4 in Ruby or sapphire in order to receive jirachi so it’s significantly harder to shiny hunt the channel one

Sometimes it might just load the current save instead of the backup save. I had someone on Twitter tell me they had much success saving twice every time right before receiving jirachi so even after you load the file correctly before you receive the jirachi, save twice again! Hopefully that works for you!

You probably need to wait longer while sending the jirachi through you can skip a lot of that animation but not all of it!

@@jeremiahegan467 yeah it’s more than likely the cord but it could be the port on your gba. If you have access to another gba I would try that. I have a gba where the port isn’t great so I just a different one when I trade or connect to my GameCube

Yep but if you need to restart the game, you'll need to beat the elite 4 before receiving another Jirachi, so the colosseum bonus disc is the better option.

Channel is mainly shiny locked so the odds are way harder I heard

@@yup5581 if anything the odds would be 1/8192. That being said you need to play through until the elite 4 to get Jirachi from channel so it's not really worth doing it that way

The battery shouldn't matter. Try to save a few times and change the frame color if your menu. If nothing works, you could always replace your dried battery

I seem to be dumb or something. I tinker around with settings and copy what the video said. Still when I pull up the corrupted save it has the Jirachi still there. Maybe batteries has a lot to do with it. If you have one that is dead you might want to try and see.

I've figured it out, just a matter of timing the reset properly.

Personally I would recommend getting your battery replaced just for the sake of faster resets

I believe it used to not but it does now due to a Japanese shiny jirachi event that has been done in the past. Also I think I’ve seen people with a wishmkr shiny jirachi in sword version

I have heard that it should because it uses an entirely different system to generate the jirachi. However IMO I wouldn’t attempt any soft reset hunt with a dead battery and they aren’t that hard to replace. There are special battery holders you can buy from eBay that you can solder onto the game and simply put a new battery into making it much easier to replace moving forward! Emulators probably use a different process of saving. That being said you might be able to get a save state before you receive Jirachi and just keep loading that one up. Also not sure how you're managing to make the emulator compatible with the bonus disc

@@ThedomiNATION yes in my tests impossible yo get the same results as you, and for me a save state is like "cheating" so yeah i think i'll use my cracked wii and put a iso file of the game and go like that. I just need to buy a link cable and an english version of ruby or sapphire (because i'm french)

You have to do this on ruby or sapphire. You cannot do it for emerald or fire red and leaf green

I've never tried it. I'd assume you need the cable. If you have the bonus disk and ruby already than give it a try and see if it works.

Only works on a GC or RVL-001, as you need a system with a GC controller port.

There are 9 shiny Jirachi out of 65536 total combinations of Jirachi. So a 9/65536 or roughly a 1/7282 chance. Slightly higher than normal shiny odds

It’s the same accessory you need for the GameCube. It’s a cord that plugs into the controller slot of your Wii and also the cable slot of your gameboy!

Sometimes the backup save isn’t the one without the jurachi so I got to do the whole 8 min thing again. Is it just random sometimes or am I doing something wrong. Also I want to hunt manaphy I got an egg on ranger but I want to get more by downloading other peoples saves (or Duplicate my own save) to help speed up the process but IDK how to do that.

I have tutorials on manaphy on my channel as well. Manaphy in my opinion WAS easier to hunt than Jirachi before this method was discovered. This is because if you did a lot of setup and played through many ranger games you could get many eggs per save file before having to restart your game and play up until sandgem town while with jirachi, no matter what you could only get one per save file making the time between encounters way longer. However with this method allowing you to not have to restart your save file every time, it definitely makes jirachi easier than manaphy by a long shot now

I will say this though, the setup for manaphy is a lot harder than the original jirachi method but after the setup it's soooo much easier! I doubt it. I think the only reason this works is because you just load your game up and Jirachi is there. Also if it goes wrong (and there's a pretty high chance it does) you'll need to restart your save file and having to play through the elite 4 will be awful

@@ThedomiNATION seemed to me it loaded a backup save before the last saved data which in that case would have been nice to abuse in instances where the game forces you to saves. being able to undo those forced saves would literally be a dream come true.

@@Strashky yes it does that. But it can still corrupt your save file and load your save after you were forced to save. Making it a risky strategy to do in the late game
