Hello friends, In this video i have tried to identify the symptoms of a failed dual mass flywheel and how to know. I hope you like this video and if you do; please hit the like button and share it. Thanks Autokraze
I figured my Ford was the dual mass flywheel failure, but wasn’t 100%, this video makes me feel a lot better that it’s not a bearing issue! I got 100k mikes out of my dmf so I can’t complain much!
Very well presented. I have a ticking type sound which goes away when the clutch is slightly pressed. But I also have random rough idle on my Patrol. Thank you.
Just gone through a dual mass flywheel replacement myself. Lots of deep knocking and mid-range cracking sounds when the clutch was depressed. Turned out the plate had completely sheared off it
Very good, you can also feel DMF failure on your clutch pedal in neutral. Press halfway down, and if you feel subtle (or less subtle) juddering (or 'jumping' ) of the pedal, it is clear sign that the flywheel is by-by. Change it, as it can cause cranck to brake.
Hi I have also car with dual mass flywheel My problem is after 20 min of driving the gers go dificult to change and 2 and 3 gear is sticking... Du you have any idea please I change the oil in transmission still same problem Manual transmission please if you know what can be the problem
@@aluyal9288 No flywheel failure will not result in your gears sticking as such. You can change the clutch master and slave cylinder and then draining the brake oil/clutch oil and replacing it with new one. Hope this helps😊
Brother I have a problem in my Chevrolet impala 2015 I changed injector and sparkle plugs and fuelpump Stil I have vibration in rpm 1500 to 2000 Even car transmission in natural When the car in the hills vibration increase Thanks for your help
Hey, I drive a Jeep Compass 2.0 Multijet manual so I have this aggressive sound on starting the car and vibration whenever the engine is running / revving. Additionally on going in the reverse gear, it struggles to move from idle. Could the problem be the flywheel?
I had similar noise on my audi q3 at 87k. Took it to a clutch specialist (not audi) was told same thing flywheel. If I got it fitted by audi £1800 , I ended up getting it done by specialist for £1200. 😭 .Car has been running sweet since.
I don't think that the noise will be of the flywheel. The ford 1.5 TDCI has a single mass flywheel not a dual mass unit. Try pressing the clutch and observing differences in the sound and let me know if there is any.
I have the similar engine sound when I accelerate, although it's quieter when warm. Gears and clutch still feel good. The noise is unbearable. Did think it could be the gearbox but now you have me thinking. Kept losing power so changed the glowplugs, its better but not 100%
I believe mine has gone. Could this cause a dip in rpm at idle, exspecialy after tapping the gas pedal? Also A "stutter" when starting. Thanks for the video
Yes, the car will rattle more at idle and the vibrations will be felt more. As you progress gaining speed from 0kmph you will feel the car is struggling a bit to pull.
I have a 2.0 TDI A5 2015, this only does this occasionally after driving in slow traffic. Rattle sound when in neutral and when I depress the clutch it rattles. Is this just the fly wheel? It goes after I leave off in first and only does this occasionally not all the time. Any help appreciated
Does the car vibrate a little in crawling speeds? If it does and there is a shake/jerk on acceleration from stand stop then it should be the flywheel. When in neutral you can open up the bonnet and observe exactly from where the sound originates. But without properly looking at it it's pretty hard to tell. I hope it helps
@@Autokraze hello, I have manual 5 speed, 1.6 TDI diesel. In my car in low rpm’s between 1000-1500 car rattles/vibrates. This vibration rezonates and drives me crazy. Thats why I am trying to drive in higher rpms. In that case it does not give any rattle or vibration. Can it be from clutch?
Automatics have a different mechanism altogether. It's not the same as manual. Moreover I doubt the i30 has a dual mass flywheel. Sound should be from something else
Hey, I have a noise on cold starts. When it sounds like the flywheel, but when you press the clutch pedal, the clutch release bearing sounds, but it only happens on cold. when the car get heat. it just doesn't sound anymore. What could be the problem? It's a 2.0 TFSI audi 8p 6 speed manual
If it's the flywheel then after pressing the clutch, the sound should go away. Also, the sound of the flywheel is much more than that of the release bearing. Also, on cold start an engine generally sounds more than usual and if it goes away after the car gets heated then there is nothing to worry about. First, i suggest you check whether its the flywheel or not by depressing the clutch
A bad flywheel will not affect gear shifting. I think you should check your clutch clyinder/master cylinder first and then the release bearing assembly.
My 2008 Lancia Musa 1.3 multijet 90 hp diesel engine has the same issue .. but the car dealer who sold me the car claims that he has documents / paperwork showing that the DM flywheel and clutch are new . I have inspected the gearbox mounting bolts and they look unmoved . how can I get my money back ?
First off you can check the mounting bolts, a fresh bolt will look new and there won't be any markings on them alas they changed the bolts with new ones. It's very hard to reclaim from a dealer coz he will know how to deal with these kind of problems but you can claim through the paper work that if the parts are new then why the fault? The only way out is through the paperwork that he has😊
If it is the flywheel then the sound should go away as soon as you press the clutch. If the sound is way too loud and is audible even after you roll up the windows then it might be the flywheel. Else, it just might be the release bearing/cylinder.
Hm. I thought my flywheel was going out but now I’m not so sure. I hear a weird metal ticking sound only when downshifting from 2nd to 1st. Also after driving for awhile and the car gets hot, it’ll have trouble starting once, then it’ll start up like nothing happened. Any guesses guys? It’s a 2013 VW Jetta Gli
It's probably not the flywheel. You can check the Clutch cylinders both master and slave. Starting trouble is not related to clutch I think, trouble should be elsewhere.
Hi bro,.my issue is ford ranger t6 automatic 3,2xlt,year 2015. when i drive so long far away, something sound from gearbox come out like tek, tek, tek,,but if engine like cool,,no sound can listen, normal sound only, may i know what is the problem?tq
@@Smith6265 not really, i only hear rattling noises when it's cold and idling, it quiets a bit after a while. when moving, i only feel it in the clutch pedal, but not for long. Ps: it can get louder and louder by time.
If the clutch is hard, first try bleeding the clutch cylinder. If pick up is unaffected, then your clutch disc is okay. Try changing the master cylinder/release cylinder and if the pick up has reduced then you need a clutch overhaul and that should solve the problem. Let me know if it helps😀
Soo did it turn out to be the flywheel ?, I had the full clutch done including slave/master cylinder and release bearing now after 20,000 miles I'm having similar issues like yourself. I think it because of cheap quality flywheel
As much as you don’t want to pay the money👌🏻 it’s always best to take it to the main dealer for a flywheel and clutch even for a Timing belt water pump😀
I actually converted the dual mass unit into a single one by welding both the flywheels together. The sound as a result, is now reduced by upto 60-70% but is existent. If you change the flywheel with a new one the sound will be totally gone.
You can try the conversion of your old dmf into a single unit without much cost instead of buying a new unit and see if the sound goes away. I am uploading the conversion video very shortly, you can have a look and let me know if it works with your car 😀
@@Autokraze yess, but if i weld it together like you... its it not gonna get unbalanced is it? Cuz i dont wanna spend much money either😂 youre the only 1 who has the same problem like me, i’ve watched whole YT😂
