Great video Shred. I've heard people say that "improvising can't be taught", but I've never believed that, & apparently neither do you. You can't teach people "what to play" as such, but you can (& did) give them tools to be creative with. Bravo Sir.

Good advice on first cutting a deal with the Dark Master. I'm in negotiations right now. In the meantime, I will humbly suggest "Jerry Coker's Complete Method for Improvisation: For All Instruments". Jazz leaning and definitely not for the tab addict but still a great resource even if some of the exercises are soul-crushing. But then, that's what the Dark Master deal is there to address.

You have to talk about improvisation using a different arpeggio on a chord like " D# half diminished over B7" or F# minor over E minor" for exemples a like those soundings and for more exotic sound "F minor pentatonic over D7" (super locrian sound)

The best thing i have learned from you is that neapolitan chord. and you just showed us again how awesome that Am->Bb->Em sounds. i have to watch myself so that i dont overuse that trick. I have also picked up on another trick you use that goes beyond the notes: Package the delivery in different techniques. You have done so many videos on that = plenty of ammo. I'm trying to tell my synth and beatmaker crew to come over here. I am ruining them by actually playing live sh!t. they live off of loops, but now they are trying to improvise. They're even pulling out guitars to add to their jams. it's a beautiful thing. this guitar stuff goes right over to keyboard stuff. they need your help, they just dont know it yet. Next: Do you have a PO box? i dont do social media beyond yahoo mail and youtube and i would like to send you a CD with a 50 hidden inside, in place of any eMoney dealings. you have no idea how much you have helped me. my pure music channel is "Autistic Einstein". that name should explain everything.

My guitar teacher who is an excellent jazz musician the last (i don't know how many) years has kinda lost it with improv. I've seen him on stage and said they didn't rehearse because it wouldn't be improvisation anymore. Once, he did a seminar on improv saying he cannot teach how to improvise for if you use forms of improvisation the whole meaning of it is lost. Technically he is correct but by that logic the only and only time a guitarist truly improvises is the first time he picks up a guitar. Everything after that point is building on your previous experience.

Great lesson ... for part 2, I suggest these topics: (a) rhythm and (b) voice-leading into the next chord. (a) is especially poignant for me, as the groove/pocket for my lead playing sucks.

Hey Shred in gratitude I share with you the secret witch lore of the pentatonic pentacle, you could do a lesson on it. Draw a pentacle. Label the points clockwise with the notes or scale degrees of the pentatonic scale. Label the spaces with the number of half steps/frets between the notes. (HINT it's either a 2 or a 3) Gaze upon it. From the point yer on add up the numbers in the spaces going either clockwise (desoleil) or anti-clockwise (widdershins) to get to another point. It's as easy as 2+3=5, etc. AND since it is circular its easy to work backwards and forwards across the root rather than get stuck there. Works particularly well for slide guitar where you are running scales or parts of scales along a string, or for finding power chords along a root string. Also in standard playing zipping up and down the neck.
