I am reading the comments and of course some guys will keep talking trash about KTM even when proving wrong on video. I have a 500 exc with 600 hours still rocking so please...KTM is rock solid when well maintained !!
what year is Yours ? It's still first piston ? i got 2020 500 and idk when to change piston, i'm not riding on track like pro just cusual riding off road and supermoto
Did 200 hours with one piston on my 300exc 2017 still ran very good. Bike has around 500 hours connecting rod was in good condition but i changed it anyway. Maintenance is very important.
Awesome vid! I was hoping you would powder coat the frame orange! Love all the tearing down Jay, his son, and you did! Can't wait for the next video!!!!!!!
When I bought my 16 Husky TE with 90hours on it, I stripped the bike down just like you've done to grease ALL the chassis bearings, change the wheel bearings and service\tune the suspension. Luckily for me the original did a piston change at 80 hours... I didn't have to deal with that
Great purchase! That previous owner should be a calm guy, that piston looks like the bike was not getting hard on the throtle .. that is great for you! (And for the bike)
Nice! Amazing how things last when you maintain them. That front sprocket should of been replaced a long time ago though! Going to turn this into a build next year?
I’m jealous I live in ny an riding a 2015 250xc which I love but 2017 one of the best years for that bike in my opinion, can’t believe I didn’t see that for sale! Lol
They are very hard to flame out (stall) compared to 4 strokes, they make better usable power down low, and now with modern two strokes and the adjustability of the powervalve the power is very linear and usable compared to the two strokes of the past. No more wild hit of sudden power.
@@jord6658 yea its good on a bike designed for Woods but i have a yz 85 with no mods and it kinda sucks because i have quite Bad clutch and throttle control so i always Be stalling in tight spots
@@villesoinine9634 the smaller bore 2 stroke bikes dont have the same low down grunt the bigger 2 strokes have for sure, most of the 200cc and up bikes allso have flywheel weights that keep the engine rotating and it's hard to kill them. I have a 300rr that is darn near impossible to flame out.
Love the video gonna be a really nice bike, I was wondering why you haven't done a gas gas, im looking to upgrade from wr450 to a 300 2 stroke and am finding lots of gas gas bikes used that look great whats your opinion?
As long as you exceed the oil mix it will be fine for a long time. Yes, it will foul spark plugs like a maniac but you are much better off changing a plug instead of doing a top end mid season.
@@dirtniron i use 50:1,5 when not ripping full throttle and if I really want to ride on the pipe i use 25:1 That yz250 engine is having better lubrication than a 4 stroke 😅
Are you going to fix the issue with the 2017's and the kick starter idler gear bolt being too short? I've read you can brake the case if you kick it over hard. Nice bike I have the exact same one I picked up last year with 40hrs for a steal. I haven't gotten around to fixing the idler gear bolt on mine yet as I have never even used the kick starter.
OK I undeststand it has all new plastics but after proper 250h use this thing should be trashed. On this video all looks as clean like after a full rebuild.
So I bought a 2019 125(I am 18). The thing of it is before this I have never rode a dirt bike. Call me stupid call me smart I idc would like to know your feedback. I just want to know. I am able to run it decently ok but I did pull a wheely yesterday and fell right off the back and I'm sitting here at 2:30 in the morning wondering if I shouldn't have. I know I didn't have my weight over the tank and that is probably why I went down. Just have a fear that I bought to much bike.
I think you got a good bike to learn on, dont sell it and keep riding. This is how you learn, you need to know what bike is capable of and how to keep it under control to avoid injuries. Its good to build certain respect for the power of the bike, it can bite you if you abuse it.. so just keep riding, take it easy, improve one by one and have tons of fun!
