Good to see you back and positive things happen. Persistence with your cruze seems to be paying off now. Would like to see some power figures or timed runs. Looks and sounds like it's driving great now. A real credit to you.
The engines are a really great platform. Only thing I really see needing some sort of upgrade is the main caps, in which at some point I'll make some billet caps. Aside from that, great flowing head VVT, GM / Opel really has a good engine here that's overlooked.
I have a boost control but had the duty cycle set too high. This the first time I've really got into it aside from some pulls to data log and street tune the vehicle. We're getting there.
Please never stop making videos on this cruze. Please also make a video explaining what’s generally needed to boost a 1.8l cruze reliably as in my searches I have found almost no answers. I get sooooo excited whenever I see you have a new video on this thang out. I want my cruze to be a beast too😰
Absolutely awesome update! I've been anxiously waiting and hoping that you've been doing alright, brother. I've learned a few new things about our 1.8L lately and am gonna be attempting to put my own mild turbo setup together soon. I have to do mine piece by piece, though. Keep it up, stay positive and I hope to see some timed runs in the future! :)
I appreciate the positive words! Keep me updated on the build. Definitely is a process piecing things together, but if you have any questions let me know.
So glad to see you posting this vid! You're one of my favorite youtuber's and I wish nothing but the best for you man! Everything looks extremely clean and very well explained, I've watched since the inception of the cruze!
Couldn't have timed the drive by gunshot any better, bahaha. That thing is rowdy. Gonna be very interesting to see how the MXR turbo holds up. Nice haircut man and awesome update!
Matthew... You have such a brilliant mind. It is amazing to see such content from you. I shared this video with a dear friend of mine and we both own cruzes. We are amazed with what work youve performed over such a period of time it is like no other. You might be the fastest cruze owner in the world... besides that V8 engine swap nonsense... This is something else. You look well, continue on and look forward. You truly are shining. Take care, Spenny
Wow, thank you! Certainly my goal to set some records and be competitive in the FWD world. Slow process getting it where I want, well... and money, but we'll get there.
Just wanted to warn you of the danger when using a aftermarket 2 step. Your not able to control the timing when activating it, like you would be able to when using a aftermarket ecu or a modified stock ecu firmware. Which means you need to pay special attention to the timing in the area the WOT box is activated. Ideally I like to pull 12 - 15 degrees timing on the 2 step.
@@cmattdabrat The big problem comes when you set the two step at a reasonable rpm like 3000-4000 rpm. Where it wouldn't normally make boost. It can have crazy timing there.
Such a positive pickup and refresher seeing you back on it and back in action...sometimes I feel like giving up and forget how far I've come when the options and opportunities are endless!! God is good and "every little thing, is gonna be alright" 🎶🎵 like the great said himself. But on another note cannot wait to see what your pulling on the dyno...man I wish I could figure out how to flash my own ECU so I can drive my now turbod Corolla but I may be doing a complete swap to something more adapt and ready for something like this so great work keep it up!!!🙏❤️🙏❤️
Thank you! Feeling more motivated and seeing other channels getting out there has me motivated. I'm still new to tuning, but maybe a standalone ECU would be a good fit for you? Granted it's in the budget. Keep me updated on how things go!
I did a build video, or a couple of them. Short block ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CpZ3T4fqY00.html Top end ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K0OvlMC5Ano.html Let me know if you need any other info.
Great video, only thing id change is having the wire tubing going through the firewall as it'll act a gutter will let water into the foot well, have it stop right before the hole through the firewall
Sonics, Cruze and Camaro's come with flat foot shifing in the OEM tune. Set your minimum mph and minimum throttle % and done. You still have to clutch it but shifts pretty quick.
Yes, and no. I've used the stock flat foot and launch control setting. It cuts fuel instead of ignition, and has a very slow recovery. I tested it with my setup and doesn't build boost off the line. Maybe a great option for NA though.
Man I love it, Started out thinking "oh god this guys gonna put a bang bang box on a shitty 1.8 cruze, here comes the rice" Then i saw the turbo LOL. Great work!
Happy to see you are doing video’s again 👏 If you think the tuning on the car it’s good and safe go to the track !!!! Can’t wait to see that video 🤘🏻🤘🏻
That thing sounds nuts! Haha gotta love it can’t wait to see this thing at the track but I’d definitely be careful about snapping axles launching on 11 psi 😂 I mean it’d be a fun time but not for a long time.
Getting a good quarter mile run or two in while logging, and weighing your car, might eliminate the need to dyno for now. Quarter mile mph will be a bit better judge of power anyway. Never know with some dyno shops. Great progress, and fun to see you get to enjoy the car.
Thanks! Not sure how the tires will hold at the track, but you do have a great point. I'd still like to get it on the dyno to see what it likes for timing, as well as tuning the VVT.
rad brotha , my standalone has all this in it but this is great informative for ppl use there stock or modded ecu and also great for my secret future build if i can find all the parts needed to make it happen as i have looked and looked and can not find anyone doing the next build i am ...... but i am super happy to see ya back posting and seaming to be in good spirits ,wish we was closer as would love to do some friendly racing with ya but anyways great vid brotha and really good for anyone trying to learn and or make there dbw preform top notch ... l8er my brotha much love and respect .. peace and love fam keep it rad stay safe and build on ... l8z .... ps how do you like the ecotec platform? and have you heard of zzp?
Thanks for the feedback! Looking into FuelTech or Haltech. Definitely wish you were close as well. Would be fun to do some competitive racing in Mexico.
I can tell! LOL, I'm having a hard time keeping up with comments. I set the setup aside before I got around to troubleshooting it. Now I'm having to start over because it walked off. Have no idea where it's at in my shop. I'm also redesigning the mount so it'll be easier to access the plugs. Stay tuned. Just as soon as the parts come in from being cut, the LS coils are going on. Decided to get some OEM LS coils from the junkyard.
Keeping an eye on timing. Plan is to eventually ether go with Haltech, Fueltech, or EMU Black. Haltech's tuning seems easy enough, but haven't really seen much by way of how tuning works on a Fueltech. Love the touch screen and visual logging it comes with for the price. The goal is to keep moving this thing towards full on drag car. Just takes time and money. Well, mostly money lol.
Matt, we spoke about the short throw shifter from ottp, your making me really consider this on my 2012 1.8 RS Replica, where do i come across a turbo exhaust manifold, the bare bone basics for now, thanks man
I made mine ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-76j4nbjvnA4.html I've thought about making them for sale, but once everyone started getting hit with EPA fines, I backed off. I still may offer them for sale in the future, but I'd have to make sure I have a process in place where I can confirm they'll be for "off road use" only.
Glad to see you back up and running! Do you know if this will work with a BNR tuned 1.4 Cruze or can BNR tune this in? Kinda new to all this tuning stuff.
Matthew ! Loved the vid! I’m curious if you’d ever make a video testing the rev limiter capability for those really interested in buying for that feature ? I’m wondering if it’s truly up to snuff.. I’m wanting to slightly lower my limiter for the engines sake (i drift) but I don’t know how effective this feature truly is 🤔 or if it would even be safe long term.. any inputs appreciated if you have suggestions ! 😁
Thanks! I raised my 2 step limiter to 6k last video. As far as longevity, 2 step can be really rough on engines so I haven't exactly tested it too much if I'm not going to put that built up boost to work.
LOL! I met with my family for my nephews birthday dinner. Did multiple flyby shifts with it popping cause my brother is into this kinda stuff too. I think he was "blown away".
You may or may not know the answer to this, I have a 1st gen auto cruze, which brake peddle wire do I tap into for the clutch wire to the n2mb? Everything else is good except that
I was wondering when that would be. I thought they were closing it down last year in April. I'm going to have to get on it this mont if that's the case!
Wonder if this plays nice with my s70 volvo? Those ecus are a pain because their a bit too smart. But this looks to be a tq on demand protocol which should work.
