thanks man! just installed some kenwoods in mine.front and rear.just picked up a '98 ex. i was shocked how poor the factory speakers in these cars were! my god.it's like they used something from the late 70's at best.iv no clue why no one didn't swap them out years ago.they were not ripped or anything.just cheap.cheap.cheap. i was also surprised how they didn't install any sound deadening behind the panels.the two side panels by the back seat most notably.i removed those and stuffed foam in there during the speaker install.way quieter in the car now just by doing that, plus quality speakers and it feels like i went from beater to decent car in a day! lol. thanks for the info on how to do this.really saved me some time today by watching your vid a couple days ahead.
I just did the rear 6 x 9's on my 1997 Honda Civic (HX trim) Coupe - I had to remove the back seats and the side panels to access the upper deck. Once I made it to the upper deck I didn't need to squeeze the pushclips or anything just simply lift up and pull out the deck. Afterwards it's 4 small phillips head bolts to remove each speaker. Sit the new speakers in with the terminals facing outward so you can simply wire the factory speaker wire to the new terminals. Took me about an hour. TOOLS NEEDED - 10, 12, and 14mm Sockets, 4 inch extension, ratchet, phillips head screwdriver, pliers, and scissors. Message me if you need any further help.
@@raziellopez335Hi, little late, but some new speakers come with a + and a - symbol on them. Line the new one up with the old one, while the old one is plugged in. Connect the wires from the old to the new in the same locations as the 2 on the plug, typically that's how it is. Just did my speakers in my '98 DX.
idk about that, the stock speakers on a 2000 Honda Civic are 4 Ohms and produce 15W RMS and 30W MAX. The new speakers I installed yesterday had tweeters and I upgraded from 15W RMS to 120W RMS and 240 Max (2 speakers). There is much clearer sound too, I can clearly tell the difference because my front speakers are still stock. Thanks for the tutorial, it really helped!
Thank you this video was super helpful I am not the handyman guy but I got tired of waiting for other ppl to help me so I hit RU-vid n your channel was the first one I hit and boom! I did it the first thing ever thank you for the vid gonna sub
yes it does work for 96 civic and i am currently working on a vid for the front speakers. i didnt know that civics had tweeters stock but i can do a vid showing how to install passof crossovers and how do install tweeters check out my front door install i have 8 tweeters all rockford fosgate in the front doors
well, i just tried installing new speakers and couldn't get past the part where you pull upwards to loosen the main piece of plastic in the back. it appears that in my 2000 civic coupe, this part goes up under the side panels. any thoughts on how to take it apart? may have to have someone else to the install. thanks for the video though. super informative!
this is great, I was planning to change my rear, it seems that the left rear gets more sound than the right rear. I want to change it out...but I also want to remove the '00 Civic's speaker screen so I can showcase my speakers, was there a snap-on & snap-off screen?
thanks for the video.. I want to do the same for my 1999 twoo door civic ex i know that for the back the speakers need to be 6x9 but could you tell me what size for the ones on the front please..
Someone mentioned that the only easy to do this is to take the side trim off also, what car was that for ? Can the plugs be taken off the factory speakers eliminating the cutting and soldering ?
How do you know how much wire to cut and do you have to cut part of the insulator covering the wire off in order show the wire so you are able to connect it to the new speaker?
Does this installation tutorial work for 96 civics? and can you also do tutorial for tweeters? I have tweeters in my car but they are not currently working
Thanks man! I agree with others as far as the music levels... its sounds cool, just make sure your voice is louder than the background track.😉 Good video...Be cool!😎
Hi Biggie i have a question u might help me in that, The question is my driver side speaker is keep blowing i have changed it like 4 times now i have changed amp as well and even wires but it still keep blowing any idea what am i doing wrong please mate thanks
Hey Biggie, I have a 2000 Honda Civic Sedan too, and I was curious if you knew the size of the front speakers, I am being told 6.5" and 6.75" but I just don't know which one they are, but I want to replace my front speakers, so please respond if you know the size of the front speakers, thank you
Is it all year models? Some forums say 6.5, some 6 you 5.25.... By the way, how to wire rear speakers? which wire goes where? Great video man!!! Really want to change mine and your video were helpful!!
They are 6.5 I have recently replaced them....i too had thought that they were 6.75 so i bought a pair before checking and had to take them back, exchange them for 6.5 and they fit like a glove... Hope i was helpful!
My setup was a lil different but I got'er'done. Think I've had these new 6x9s a good year and a half o.O Just was to lazy to put them in. Had to unsnap more stuff to get all the parts off but wasnt do bad
@10cmsub: Stock Speakers sound better ?Any Aftermarket Speaker will probably sound better than your Stock ones. Good Vid Bro.. Keep them up. Gonna give you a shoutout in my nextone too ;)
What' size speakers go in the front doors. I got 2 10" speakers and 2 10" subs installed on my back deck now I need to replace the front speakers but not sure what size or brand to get. Any advice?
For your vehicle, the only way to get the rear deck off is to also remove the side interior panels. A pain in the ass yes but you wanna do it right, right?
there are metra adapter that you can get so you dont have to cut the speaker wire. it plugs into factory wire and plugs into the speaker perfectly. metra 72-7800 i believe. and no solder needed. everything is reversable
Just used this video to install my new speakers in my 1996 civic ex sedan. It was really easy! Thank you! Have you done a video for the front speakers?
Lol Wats de name of dat song yu played ! But yea its sounds much better n its clear ! I kno it hav bass cuz I just try dem n mi moms car I'm gettin sumn else but I like it ... It helped me for mi civic ... Thanx
I can't take the back panel off. My back left/middle seat come down, but the right seat in the back doesnt come down and that seems to be what is holding it. I don't want to take the seat out.
the latch that holds the seat in place must be broken and it won't release if you watched the vid you don't need to unlock the backseats to put them down the lock feature is there to pull the seats down from inside the car and that's it. there are 2 handles in the trunk that you pull that release the seats so they can fold down
this is not the same for Civics 96-00 only 96-98 work this way 99-00 are different panels I'm so fucking tired of of people thinking 96-00 civic models are the same
Even 98 is different, there are additional catches near the back you can only see from certain angles through the metal cutaway holes underneath. Very dastardly.
wooo weee btw this is a 2000 civic se witch is not available outside of Canada and i know there the same as i own a 98 witch is the green car in the vid and a 96 hatchback
xerneas for 99-00 first disconnect the third brake light bulb from the socket. remove the back rest, slide the seat belts from the side opening of the tray. there are clips on both sides of the speaker tray near the front part that locks to the C Pillar cover. You have to push the speaker tray down on that part and pry it loose. It's best to use a trim and molding tool to avoid scratching the panels www.harborfreight.com/5-piece-auto-trim-and-molding-tool-set-67021.html. After that you can carefully lift the speaker tray to unlock the white clips that attach it to the car frame.
Stock speakers have very good bass response I love them very much but I blowned one of them and had to replace :( 15 years old speakers have better bass lol
please when doing a instructional video, do not play music in your video while you are talking. Nobody can hear anything you are saying over the music. I gave up on the video cause I could barely make out what you was saying half of it.
Id show how to reinstall if I had the car still putting it back in can be a pain but its the same way you took it out just remember to put the one side in first in an angle then push the other side in after don't push it straight in
the stock speakers where only 25 watts (13RMS) each the new Pioneer Speakers where 100 watts (50RMS) and where much better in every way. thanks for the comment and i hope this vid has helped out many ppl who took the time to watch the vid
Remember though, that if you are only running the speakers off of the headunit, you want a speaker with a lower RMS rating if possible. It will sound better. Aftermarket headunits put out no more than around 22watts RMS per channel, so a low-end set of new speakers from a quality manufacturer will be perfect. I have Alpine Type Es that are rated at 35 watts RMS for example, and they are very efficient!
Someone mentioned that the only easy to do this is to take the side trim off also, what car was that for ? Can the plugs be taken off the factory speakers eliminating the cutting and soldering ?
this works for all models of Civic 96-00. NO SIDE TRIM IS NEED TO BE REMOVED for installation. you can purchase the factory connections so you can reuse the factory inputs, i rather soder the connections
