Instead of building a adaptor why not make a aftermarket filter head so the cat filter will screw on to it instead of stock head,adaptor the cat filter ???

Ordered the XD171 kit filter. Box came with all the parts n filter 🤷‍♂️. NO Instructions……… so it comes with 3 O rings……one large to small……one fat small O ring one thin O ring. Heck if I know which one works. Took a guess with the thin o ring. Fuel primed n engine runs. Hoping that was correct ☹️🤔😐

So just the mod and have. Check engine light on. Video said disconnecting the WIF wouldn’t trigger but it looks like it did. XDP or anyone have a solution?

Can this same my cp4 or do I need a fass fuel system and I hear of a cp4 2.0

There also is no guarantee anything will "save" a CP4 from failing. However, good filtration, good fuel pressure being supplied to the CP4, running fuel additive, and changing your fuel filter regularly will all help prevent issues.

@@XDPDiesel ok so if I buy this 2016 Chevy Duramax it' had 200k do I change out the cp4 to a cp4.2? I also heard of a fuel pressure relief valve?

I just installed this set up. Now I have a check engine light. I’m assuming because the fuel/water sensor isn’t hooked up ? Any solution for this ?

Suggested Filter Service Intervals: Used as the primary fuel filter - 10,000 Mile Intervals Used as the secondary filter along with an aftermarket fuel filtration systems (Airdog, FASS, Fuelab, Etc.) - 50,000 Mile Intervals

Installed but my truck will no stay primed. Took it off and installed the factory filter. Done deal.

sorry but this is a huge waste of money. adapting an already mediocre filter to run a better filter will not fix the many issues here. first the filter is the least of the probems, the filter housing (which is re-used/adapted) is the most common failure point. if after 21-22 years of the duramax being out, if you havent already swapped to a fass (or other brand lift pump) you are way behind. remove that stupid stock filter/primer housing all together, run a fass lift pump and then run cat filters if you want. rebuilding filter housings or even using rebuilt ones are pointless. i tried both options a few times and each failed within 6 months. the duramax NEEDS a lift pump.

What about the cp4 ?? I'm gonna buy a 2016 Duramax and I heard that those things go out what can be to fix the problem on those issues I heard the fast fuel pump can do it but I also heard of a cp4 2.0 any information on that

@@supremekingjesus425 from what i can tell in 2017 they started putting in factory lift pumps, so the 2016 your looking at will need one. The cp4 is the same as the older cp3, i think it is just higher pressure, and it just got different model number. The issue with not having a lift pump on any year dmax is the cp3/4 has to suck fuel all the way from the tank and then pressurize it to around 20,000 psi (depending on year), thats a ton of work for that pump to do and they dont seem to last. Mine is a 2001 and i dont think they changed the filter housing much but they have seals in them go out, wif sensors and bleed screws that are constantly failing. Running a lift pump pushes fuel to the cp3/4 which lets it do half of the work it did before and put alot less stress on it and lasting longer. I believe my fass was $700 about 4-5 years ago. Fass also has a listing of all different type filters and brands that work with it as well.

The air dog is a pull through system if you have a pump failure which is why I chose it but if you remove the primer assembly you then have no way to prime the system manually if that happens, plus keeping it on gives you a second filter because after a certain point the fuel lines can start to degrade internally and come apart putting small chunks in the supply line the second filter even if it is stock one will catch the chunks and prevent them from making it to the cp3 so personally I kept mine on there after installing the air dog….. but you do you to me it was extra insurance

Remove the factory o-ring/grommet around the check ball nipple under the factory filter housing as this may cause fitment/priming issues with the XDP CAT Filter Adapter installed.
