How To Install A Door / How To Hang A Door 

okay you've dealt with the people telling you to get the specialty corner chisel, but what about the people telling you to get the round-cornered hinges so you don't have to chisel? I know, I know, I'll shut up now... ;-)

I think it is really intresting to see how northamerican doors work completely differently from european ones :) Ours seem much more complex, probably not as easy to make yourself, but i think they would be easier to hang. Don't have experience with either though!

They make hinges with half-inch rounded corners so you don't have to square the corners of the mortises.

Published today??? Talk about good timing, I'm in the middle of installing my own interior door jambs and hanging some custom doors I ordered and was looking for instruction. Thanks for posting.

In The Netherlands we have rounded hinges, so when using a router you don't have to chisel out the corners afterwards. Don't you have those in Canada or you don't care?

I always hated doing door installations, but seeing how you did it makes me look forward to trying those techniques in the future.

Love your videos..I have a question on your door jamb installation. Was the header installed level? I don't understand why you had to plane the top of the door so radically..just curious as to your thought process..I seen the installation video. You started off well with very little variance from jamb to ceiling..am I missing something? Thanks, great jamb installation video, by the way..

Honestly, I wish the people that built my apartment had hung the doors with as much care as you do. It may not seem like much, but that constant gap is one of those details that really makes a difference.

Use a mallet rather than a hammer just to keep the chisel handle from being chipped.

That's what I call crafting detailing and patience, which I don't have... :(

Is that really how doors are mounted in Canada? Tiny jewelery-box hinges and short wood screws? Or was this a special aesthetic choice? I would think of using those hinges for a (human size) door, let alone entry doors. 1st it's impossible those will hold a person if they were to hang onto the door. 2nd They can probably be kicked in on the first try by a medium size person with good shoes. Could someone elaborate? PS: No trolling here, seriously curious.

how come you used 3 hinges? I've seen doors with 2 hinges and some with 3, all interior doors, is there a reason?
