As you may recall from a previous episode, the YJ had some oil burning issues. Jim disassembled the head and took it to a mchine shop where it was found to have some rust pitted valve stems and valve guides that were serverly worn (and PREVIOUS machine shop did not bother to correct in 2012 when engine was rebuilt) Anyway, watch Jim reinstall the cylinder head and head gasket.

Great video. You didn’t mention the white water jacket sealer for the #11 bolt. Did you do that for your head gasket?

Yes, I did do that and I guess forgot to mention. #11 bolt goes into water jacket and needs it... Thanks for pointing that out. It is an important step!!

Is that a permatex product white water jacket seal

So did you check camshaft position prior to torqueing the rocker arms?

Not necessary as they are just the pivots. While if under tension it is a little more upward pressure, it won't effect the rotational torque on the bridge/pivot bolts. My opinion.. maybe someone else has a different idea. What I can 100% say is that after doing this probably 15 or 20 times, I've never had an issue.

It looks intimidating, but just go slow. It's not really that difficult. I'd say 2-3 hours if all goes smoothly. Biggest issue is to make sure to torque in proper sequence...same for intake/exhausr manifold. Good luck!!
