I wired the switches correctly, the light on the front was blinking red & green, did set up but lights won't turn on, what's the issue?

@@TPLINKTECH Why does the satellite dimmer not need neutral? Without neutral, how is the circuit completed for the 2nd dimmer?
@TPLINKTECH
@TPLINKTECH 8 месяцев назад
@@aaabbb-py5xd Because a Neatural wire is only needed on the side where the line wire is. The load wire side does not need it as the transmission between the two switches is done through the traveler wires.

I don’t have neutral and ground, only 1 line and 2 travel, can I connect the switch?

No. A neutral wire is required at the Line side of the run.

@@TPLINKTECH Ok thanks, but how does the switch on the Line side remain powered (if it doesn't have a dedicated neutral)? Is this switch using one of the travellers as neutral?
@TPLINKTECH
@TPLINKTECH 8 месяцев назад
@@aaabbb-py5xd The Line side requires the Neutral. the Load side does not. The line is the side where power is delivered to the 3-way run so the switch will always have power.

@@TPLINKTECH Thanks for responding to my amateur questions, especially since I misspoke earlier. I actually wished to understand how the Load-side Switch (Satellite Dimmer) maintains power. Since that side is not connected to its own neutral (nor line), is it that the Satellite Dimmer is using one Traveller as "Line" and the other Traveller as "Neutral"? If this is the case, how does the Main Dimmer and the Satellite Dimmer coordinate their on-off state and dimming levels (which are functions usually maintained by the Traveller Wires)? Thanks

@@aaabbb-py5xd My knowledge of the interworkings of electrical devices like the 3-way switches is very limited. But we have a wonderful group of customers on our Community who know these devices very well and may be able to answer that. Maybe post a thread community.tp-link.com/us/smart-home/forum/2434 and see if you can get a more expert-level response there.

If one of those switches was a motion sensor it would be really useful on stairs

We do have motion detecting switches just not in a 3-way configuration/ We also have a motion sensor in our Tapo product line that could be used to control switches as well. .

@@TPLINKTECH I have the KS200M in a bathroom. But those same smart features would be useful in upstairs hallway if/when you offer it in a 3-way config. I’d mount the sensor downstairs and force manual operation overnight

@@Wayne3339 good to know. I am not aware if a 3-way motion is on the horizon but if there is enough of a request I could see it happen.
