If you're installing an aftermarket car audio amplifier but you're not replacing the factory stereo, chances are you are going to need a LOC (Line Output Converter). A LOC take the audio signal from your OEM stereo's speaker wires (High Level Signal) and provides you with RCA Outputs (Low Level Signal) which is required by most aftermarket car amplifiers.

I would have soldered the wires together for a nice permanent positive connection, as well as used heat shrink for a nice finish seal. Those can come loose.

If you about to connect just amp and sub. Also Honda accord 2013 has low rear speakers, which Im having problem with the bass. Thats why Im thinking about to connect my LOC to front speakers thru head unit.

He did tap into the speakers but he did it where ALL the wires are instead of picking up the wires on different areas of the car and having to run the wires all over. Its WAY better the way he did it.

Is it possible to just remove some of the rubber from the speaker cables and connect the converter to it and tape it up so I don't lose my rear speakers?

What do you do with the cut wires going to the speakers if you don't 9-wire them to the amplifier? and you just splice them back together just adding the LOC wire? Or would I be able to splice the LOC wires to the rear speakers in the back and keep the LOC with the amp since the LOC only has wires for 2 speakers?

So if I don't want to add the speaker wires to the amp, the wires I just cut wont get signal for sound anymore. Should I instead use t-taps for the LOC so that I am just tapping into the wires that are coming from the stock head unit.

This would be correct if you are planning on just ampimg the subwoofer. They added the 9 wire for the 4 new door speakers. You can add the LOC and then just run speaker wire direct from amp into your sub. Good luck guys

Zachary Lenz yeah if he cut the main harness and hook that box up idk why he I'm just didn't t-tapp instead of going to 2 wireing jobs 1box 2the 16 wires!???? either way you can use a sub with that still cuz all the RCA do is produce tje music not boost hurtzz etccc,,, that's why you run those AV Jack's to EQ to the crossover thennnnnnn to the amp!!!👍👍👍 #nicevideohardforSumunderstand

Yeah just tap into the speaker wires. If you cut them reconnect them with the line out converter also. Then run just the rcas to the amp. This is if you're just hooking up subs or running a way higher watt amp like 1000w. Let the factory amp run the speakers and the line out converter get the rcas from the speaker lines

My amp has 2 extra RCA for a sub ... What do i do about that . I upgraded to an android unit and it has only 2 RCA or i can use a line output converter . but the that has only 4 channel so I am left with 2 RCA for the sub...where do I connect that

OEM Speaker wire is like 28 Gauge wire. And no it is not all OFC copper. Many car companies use 100% Aluminum wire for their speakers in cars. And many other applications. Upgrading your wire I think helps keep the "whine" or any background noise from coming through because you have a much better signal for your speakers. OEM is like 28 - 32 Gauge wire in most "average" cars. And I'm not kidding it's either 100% AL, or CCA wire at best. Auto manufacturers rarely use 100% copper wire for their stereo systems. That's one of the reasons OEM car stereos Suck! 32 Gauge wire is literally 6-7 strands of wire the thickness of a human hair. That's it!

I have a Scosche Loc i'm in the process of installing it and i can't remember if the wire on the LOC that have black stripes are negative or not the wires are to tap into the L/R speakers the wires for the left are grey and grey with black strip and for the right it's white and white with black strips please respond ASAP Thanks

Butt connectors,seriously? I would think the customer would want solder,heat shrink tubing and cloth tesa tape finish but I guess some people don't want to fork the extra cash for a neater install and end up going on the cheap with BC's.

The only time I use CCA wire is for speaker wire, and would probably run it anyway from amp. I use 14 Gauge CCA, and for any length of wire 7-8 feet or less, and only carrying "watts" to the speakers, there is no difference in that short of a wire between CCA or OFC copper wire. Once you get past 8 feet the CCA wire degrades and adds resistance quickly for each extra foot past 8 feet. So 8 feet or more you should run OFC copper speaker wire. It will save you a few bucks using OFC for your speaker wire and still give you a great signal. It's especially useful in trucks because the wire runs are so short to your speakers. Then it's OFC copper wire for everything else for power and ground etc.

how to wire or configure 6ch(4 speakers and 2 subs) with a LOC? Im thinking 4ch and 2 ch LOC as the 2 ch LOC can use the knob for bass. Also, if my system is 150rms per speaker, how to wire with LOC as the factory harness uses 18ga cables so unsure how useful using thicker cables to speakers will matter...any thoughts or advise welcomed and thanks.

Hi there, thanks for the video and its really useful! I'm from Malaysia, currently driving the 2014 Honda Accord, with the non-premium audio option (without the sub). I have recently added a 6-ch Nakamichi DSP and I have a 2ch amp driving a Pioneer 12-inch sub and the sub is tap from the front speaker line. How can I have a independent output for my sub so that the DSP can control the sub and front seperately? Also, I'm using Focal PS165 X2 for my fronts, which comes with 2 pairs of crossovers. My installer said the crossovers are not required as the DSP does the job well... is that true?? Really appreciate and thanks a lot for your response!

I have a '17 challenger scat pack with Factory placed Apline Upgrade Subwoofer and Factory Amp.. I'm looking to purchase the Harmon Kardon Sub from the SRT/Hellcat.. can I just remove my Factory Alpine Sub and Just place Harmon Kardon Sub in its place, seeing that the Factory Alpine Sub is already wired to the Factory Amp?? Any Suggestions??

Theodore Bell-Wilson Why there? I ran mine to the brake ground which actually ground for everything else in your dash. Constant you plug it into aux which is tied in to your starter already through the entire wire harness

Every item in the signal added is an increase in distortion,these low cost loc are not that good,buy a audio control if you want to get a clean output for rca up to 6 volts.

I always mounted my amp 2 a board or 2 the sub box 2 avoid chassy grounding! so mounting under the passenger seat, how are u mounting it w/out chassy grounding it? r u using rubber isolators?

im trying to install a LOC on a 2011 chevy cruze using stock radio. I have the speakers working, i took the romote wire from the LOC and hooked it to the romote wire that I can to the amp... power wire is hooked up as well as ground...I am left with a 12v wire from the LOC. I am unsure where I can hook that wire to. As of right now I have no power to my amp at all. any help would be amazing!

What power wire gauge size should you run to a 4 channel amp for highs. It's only a small amp probably 150 watts rms. 35 or so per channel

Great Video thanks. i have an 05 acura tl that has the an external amp stock and a dedicated 8"sub in the rear deck but its severely underpowered (40rms). i already replaced the sub with a pioneer shallow mount sub but it still lacks oomph. The pioneer can handle 150 rms. So could I line out just the subwoofer wire to an small mono amp and then run that back to the sub, thus increasing its RMS? It's a 19 step process to take the stock receiver out and I really dont have the time nor patience for that

ery helpful, but at the end he says if you were to just use a sub, all you need is a 2 channel LOC. When would anyone use just a sub? I would have thought perhaps another example like a 4ch amp and a additional 2 channel amp situation would be standard.

I was trying get hold of a factory harness extension. Just a harness that has all the included wires, male on one end, female on the other. Someone has to have it, or be able to make it.....then I could do some cutting. What did that factory harness do to you??? Murdered my soul watching it get cut.

hello Sonic Electronix just wondering if you could help me out I have an LC converter and was wondering if I could hook up converter directly to the back of my head unit instead of having to wire it from the rear speakers that being the question it also has the has power ground and remote on the actual converter box can I hook that up our ground and remote from the back of the deck today I'll see converter box and stuff using the amp please get back to me let me know best way of hooking up LC converter box

I have a 2010 Buick LaCrosse and im looking to upgrade my audio system. Im looking to upgrade the high and lows but retain my factory radio. I already know i need a LOC but my question to you is do i need two LOC? Do i need the PAC LP7-4 and PAC LP7-2 if im upgrading the high and lows or can the LP7-4 take care of both? Thx in advance

Mighty Sound same here.. I got a powered sub installed last year and I thought the installer was gonna hook up the RCA cables to the factory stereo since it has the RCA outputs but he didn't so instead he cut some wires from a harness that connects to the factory amp.. last week I ran a new set of RCA wires connected to my factory head unit to my amp and I notice the subs play just low notes and not get loud so I plug the old RCA wires back to them amp and it's louder but make the subs play higher notes

With the equipment shown it should be around 1800 to 2000 with install...this is with a normal sub enclosure.

Hi Guys, My question is when hooking up 5 channel amp I only have 4 RCA from the Line Out Converter where do I get that 5th RCA for the sub woofer,Also after I hooked it all up I get a Loud woofer sound (hard to explain)when Im driving/car in gear and stops when i am going faster and comes back when I slow down..what is causing that?
