Super helpful video. I've always subbed this job out because I found the instructions confusing. Thanks for providing a lot of clarity and showing how you do everything step by step.
No problem. That is what I love about making RU-vid videos, helping people! Most of them are about the same. Some of them are a little different than others. I hope it helps you out!
I am jealous because you have a helper. Hahaha. I rarely would have anyone but being 6'5" is a big help with long arms. If I was doing a remodel, I always put 2×6 blocking in the wall so I never had to use toggle bolts. Although the bracket doesn't hold all the weight to a certain amount. Putting the recommended blocking is so important as well so you can't cause damage to the cabinet bottom tightening the bolts to much. I always measure the cord size when drilling the hole through the cabinet bottom and would use a plumbing excursion cover to hide the hole better. (a personal touch I guess) One thing I had happen once was the vent direction was set up for back venting and top venting and not re circulating. I always would check that before installing so I wouldn't have to take the unit down. I love the GE profile units as well. Great features and simple to operate. Don't forget to check the light settings underneath. Love the high and low. Great job as always Josh.
Thank you. Everything is so much easier with a helper! You could probably install that microwave with one arm. I’m only 5’ 10” so I need all the help I can get 😅. Yes, the blocking is crucial because I have accidentally tighten the bolts up too much and you could tell it pulled it down the cabinet floor. Checking the venting is smart! We rarely install venting for the microwaves. So far the GE appliances have been great. I do like them. I had whirlpool in the old house and they were good as well. Thanks for stopping by again, David! I always appreciate your comment!
I use the real scissors! Tin snips are amazing at cutting paper 😀. Good catch! That’s what it’s all about. I appreciate you watch in Charles! I hope everything is going good for you!
Thanks, Josh. Great video as always. However, I never understood the wisdom in sucking up cooking fumes and venting them back into the room. Seems pointless to me. I have a microwave install coming up and I will definitely be exhausting through the side wall. Up and OUT!
