You seriously deserve an award for this video. Not just for the amazing production quality, but also for the massive benefit that this video provides the WRX/STI community. So good dude!
Just finished the install of this in my 2020 wrx sti and this video helped tremendously. It took me about 10 - 15 hours to complete over the course of 2 weekend days and 2 weekdays and I have about 0 car modding experience. I watched this video about 10 times and cross referenced it with the IAG AOS manual. Here's some observations that may help others: - When removing battery (easier access to driver side valve breather line), there's a plastic cap on the battery mount bracket. You can twist this off with a socket wrench - Lube up each hose/connection you can. Just like B&S says. Getting the intercooler on without oil is very, very difficult - Once tape is removed from the main electrical harness, it is still tough to move because of the kink. It will move. - Disconnecting some of the sensors on the breather lines was surprisingly difficult at first. You need to wiggle as you pull out. - You will bend some fins on the intercooler. Just accept it. - I have huge hands and did not need to remove anything with the air intake when connecting the aos passenger side valve breather line. It will hit the nipple at an angle, but with lube will slide right on and sit flush. - When working with zipties in tight spaces, make sure to align it so you can use needlenose pliers to tighten one click at a time. - I used all the tools B&S recommended except the zip tie cutter.
How was it putting the intercooler back in? I worked on it 10 hours yesterday got everything done except putting back the intercooler elbow coupler it refuses to go in completely and i think its because the hose thats under doesn’t allow it to. Any suggestions?
I am in the process of doing this same install on a 2005 WRX. All the other RU-vid videos showing this procedure should simply be links to your video because they all suck in comparison. Very nicely done and thank you for putting so much effort into it.
I am a ASE Master Tech / L1, L2 certified, with over 30 years of experience. This is an excellent video!!!! It should be known this is the V2 AOS. The newest V3 is similar but much better. V3 has banjo fittings for the coolant lines and spring clamps instead of zip ties for all the connections. There are many other differences. The full color detailed, step by step installation can be downloaded from the IAG website. I would still suggest watching this video to get a good general idea of what the process will be like. Again, EXCELLENT JOB!!
Fantastic video, brother - thanks!!! I was going to have mine installed by a local Subi shop, but it was going to cost me $676 for 4 hours of install time. Figured I could better use money like that on more parts. So, I bit the bullet and did the installation with my son. I would never have made it through the drain hose part without coming back to the video and seeing how you used the factory hoes/clamps. After 45 minutes of trying with the new host/clamps, I was able to get the stock hose/clamps on with no issue and keep moving on. Fantastic explanation throughout the video! I installed the V3, so I split my time between your video and IAG's and had it installed in 3 1/2 hours (and that's including all that time spent on that drain hose). All I can say is thanks!!! Your videos are excellent.
7 months, thats how long my AOS has been sitting in my garage. Last night I spent more than 6 hours doing this install. But it saved me hundreds in labor at a shop. It helped me solve major crank case pressure issues that put tones of oil in my intercooler/turbo but after driving this morning a HUGE difference in my fine knock and DAM readings. The PDFs are to ambiguous, this guide was priceless, THANK YOU!
Hands down the best install video ever…. I’ve been on the fence about installing this myself but your video gave me the confidence to try it on my own. Props to you for taking the time to create this tutorial. This company should pay you for this…
I installed the V3 IAG AOS in my 2018 WRX. And it's the best mod for the money I have done . These engines are very temperamental. And anything that can keep em running and in good shape is a good thing. 👍
The amount of support in the comments for this daunting part is astonishing. I had bought a set of wheels, a Cobb big sf intake and ets extreme catback and this AOS still took me longer to put on than all of those parts combined.
As I look into the IAG V3 install guide, IAG kept both side short hose connected to breather ports (passenger & driver) with the white connectors. You wouldn't have to tape up the connectors on both sides as well. Just something that I noticed in the new guidebook.
This comment should go to the top being they no longer sell v2. My v3 arrived today and can't wait to install this video is great for installing v2 (I guess if you buy a used one) but iag has an awesome install of the v3!
Props man! Because of this perfectly step by step installation video. I was able to successfully install my AOS without any hiccups! Thank you so much!
Fantastic level of detail! Thank you so much for doing this! I've had my IAG sitting in it's box for a few months now and part of the reason is that I was a little intimidated, and the tutorials online were not the best for 2018+ Sti's. As far as your tutorial-- I couldn't have asked for anything more! Great camera work, lighting, and detailed commentary. Subbed!
@@michaelhernandez1398 I haven’t yet...it’s an install I plan to do along with a few others that require removal of the intercooler so I’ve been putting it off due to la k of time. Also, I do not have V3, sorry!
Great video. I followed it step by step installing iag aos on my 2021 STI today and after couple hours aos was installed. Even reinstallation of TMIC was a breeze. Just "sweat" turbo outlet and manifold inlet with engine oil and it slips in easily. Thanks for directions. Also installed cylinder 4 cooling mod following another video and again. Walk in the park
This is excellent quality of video, explanation, and length of time of video. IAG should pay you for this video, I don't think any brand of anything aftermarket for an 2020 STI would of spent the time and effort as you did to show how to do it and explain it in such depth with great instruction. Thank you for doing this, it will surely help me when I install or have it installed on my 2020 STI.
This is a really good detailed video. I've watched it about 30 times lol. The only thing I noticed is that in IAG's instructions they don't mention anything about removing the jumpers and reinstalling them back and taping them off. They also keep both passenger and driver side breather hoses on instead of removing them and now I'm confused lol.
This is a sick video. I used it today to help me install my aos after watching two other install videos. This was definitely the most straight forward of any video i have seen. Thanks for the upload 👍
Thank you so much! I’m so glad i found your channel!! I will be watching and re-watching this and the overview video to prepare for my own IAG AOS installation!
This is so informative that I do t even feel like doing it. Instead i just did a simple oil catch set up and called it a day. It ain’t the cleanest but it works for what I need.
Great video!!! Been a subscriber for a while. I have had my AOS sitting in a box in my garage for over a year and I finally attempted to install it. Your video came in clutch and was a huge help. Great verbal instructions and camera angles. You didn’t go too fast either. Thank you!
@@akqjtn I actually did have a motivation. They don't market the product to the Mazdaspeed crowd. Too small of a market I guess. But, Mazdaspeeds can use that also and I plan to get one and I figured I would watch your video just for a basic idea even though of course all the locations will be different. Mazdaspeeders usually use catch cans but I want an AOS. I fact, I have an AOS, the Crawford. But its nowhere near as good and I've outgrown it. I got the IEG V3 on order and I might need to change some of the hoses/brackets since I bought the WRK kit. I thought it was really cool how they were able to design a cable relocation bracket such that it completely looks like it could have come from the factory that way. Lucky that the cable has available slack to make that happen.
No problem 😉! I also checked your other videos,i saw you also do have an ascent, im also looking to get one as the family vehicle, hows the ascent despite of the issues with the cvt tranny?
I would love to see you do a motor mount install video! It’s one of the more intimidating mods for me and I plan to try and do them at the same time as my AOS. If you don’t plan to do them I understand, just thought I’d ask because your video installs are the best!
This is a great video fornthose who like to modify and tinker with their cars. This is why I watch you and all others in the subie community. I really appreciate the attention to detail and other maintenance techniques that I have witnessed here. I like keeping my car stock. I love my 2017 base model WRX. I out a vortex generator and OEM foglights on mine. I let Frank's irvine subaru do it in irvine ca. Stay safe brother and I'm catching up on all of your older videos now. Happy holidays to you and your family Sir.
I am currently installing a cobb aos and its the exact same thing as the one you just installed. It just says cobb and its black. You have the best video instructions i have seen! I tried using cobbs instructions and theyre garbage
Well done on this video! One thing I hated about the video is the amount of ZIP ties. Please compression or worm gears are so much easier in the future.
Amazing tutorial so clear and detailed. Thank you so much I am returning the Cusco dual set up I was gonna do and instead get this IAG AOS. Looks much nicer
Excellent video! This is the best IAG install video out there. Still looks like a daunting install, but you made it look possible for a do it yourselfer. Thanks. Still waiting on my 2020 STI, but this is a mod I want to do ASAP.
Thanks, great video! I'm definitely thinking of tackling this soon. A little gunshy, but it looks like take your time, you're good. Thanks again! (2017 STI)
Great video. The only bad part (and definitely 0% your fault) was that I just bought an AOS and it was the new style AOS, so certain hoses were installed on it differently and I had to take a couple guesses at first.
I put a 90 degree glass filled plastic fitting off of my coolant reservoir and aimed it downward to avoid the kink and it no longer rubs the intercooler.
So only thing noted is that if you buy a AOS v3 after 2020ish it comes with different ports and some of these steps aren't used, such as pulling the drive and passenger side air lines off the block, which is very much not fun to try to get back in
You have great instructional videos! I've seen some channels show how to change the manual transmission oil, but they don't explain why you should do it early or explain the benefits of switching to a non-OEM brand. Is that something you would consider doing?
Heyoo. Thanks for the amazing content. I followed alot of your sound deadening videos and will be following this one soon. Question about the AOS. How long does 1 last? Does it need to be replaced over time? And do we need to do any maintenance on them like Cleaning tubes or pipes?
Hey man thank you. This video made life so much easier. Just wrapped up the install but the port where it goes back into the turbo inlet closes to the turbo not sure where it goes. Running a killer b inlet doesn’t have that port anymore. Any idea where it could go? Appreciate it
I've watched this video literally over 30 in preparation for my install. Thank you! With the new V3 AOS the instructions seem to be slightly different and I realized after I already followed your steps. Do you think everything should work the same? Thank you
