Very good tutorial thank you. Tip. If wanting deployed app to uninstall automatically when GPO is removed from OU enable "Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management" under GPO Software installation Package Properties - Deployment tab.

This is great to learn and all but wasn't the point of using active directory to deploy packages was to save time. I don't think this is much easier than manually installing the software.

Very clean video my dude! I know this is an old video but i was wondering, will the GPO reinstall chrome on every startup? Or dose GPO check to see if Chrome is installed before trying to install?

Appreciate your efforts few clarification if any existing old google chrome is available on pcs what will heaped , any way to remove the old version or any upgrade option in google chrome from old version to new

Video will be live on Monday. We can upgrade/update the google chrome on client machines, even we can uninstall that too.

Hello sir, I have created a GPo which restricts user to change background and I applied the GPO on of my OU NOW the problem is that OU already has a GPO which restricts cmd and registery and once I do gp update it won't change the background but it restricts cmd and registery and if I remove cmd and registery GPO I can see the background on client computer Please help me

Ans:1 Yes, there is option on Group Policy Management Console to update the GPO. Ans:2 There are so many free software available on internet which you can use to convert .exe file to .msi.

Hi, can we do like this on custom extension ? And what if I don't want to push my custom extension on chrome web store? Can I still use force install that extension for users in G suite without uploading it on chrome web store?

Is the shared folder location configured correctly with proper permission? Try to access the shared folder location on client computer.

Some time software deployment will take time on client computer. You can restart your PC if policy is not updating properly. To troubleshoot try to access the share folder location from client computer also check the software package assignment type.

Hi MSFT WebCast, Question why there is a need for an update to the client computers every time you set up new policy, can't you do that on the active directory , how practical it is to physically go to the client computers and make some changes ?

For the purpose of the demonstration, I want to apply group policy changes instantly and thats the reason why update policy manually. By default GPO will automatically update on applicable computers and users after 90 to 120 minutes but in demo we dont want to wait that much.

Does this work when running DHCP server? I seem to be having issues with it get to run as everytime i restart my client, it does not recieve the address from the DHCP server and uses my local router as a default gateway and DHCP server

I dont think GPO have anything to do with dhcp. Check Event viewer on client for logs.

to deploy software using group policy you have to use MSI package. Software with .exe extension will not work. If you have any package with .exe extension you can use EXE to MSI converter software to convert into .MSI package.

Why can't you simply apply the GPO to the Computers OU rather than creating a new GPO and moving computers?

The 'Computers OU' as you are calling it is not existent in this video. There is a Computers Folder but not an OU setup by default. He first had to create an OU within Active Directory and then move the computer to the new OU. You cannot apply a GPO to a folder. Hope this helps.

You can’t. To do so you would need an RDS server where you remote into the computer and check it

Lots of freeware are available on internet, you can use any of exe to msi builder software.

@@LinhNguyen-tt1kj First access the share folder path on your client computer. Look at 6:31 time stamp. In your case, can you access the source UNC path on your client computer? There is no need for full control permission to deploy the software.

Ans-1: No it wont install again. I mean next day or next login. Ans-2: At the time of GPO creation there will be one option name SCOPE of Management. We can use this option to define what do when we delete the GPO. Also at the time of GPO deletion you will have a option to define what we want to do with the deployed app. Ans-3: You can use Security Filtering to apply the GPO to only specific user from an OU.
