If you're having trouble getting Metasploitable to work on your Macbook with the M1 chip this video will help explain how you can emulate the x86 architecture to make it work properly.
Commands that were used. These are listed in order.
Install Homebrew:
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL raw.githubusercontent.com/Hom...)"
Install QEMU:
brew install qemu
Converting the Metasploitable.vmdk file to qcow2:
qemu-img convert -O qcow2 -c Metasploitable.vmdk MetasploitableM1.qcow2

Fantastic. Worked like a charm. I now have Metasploitable 2.6.24-16-server running on my M1 Mac mini running macOS 14.4.1. The class I am taking on Udemy called "Learn Ethical Hacking From Scratch" has us installing Kali, Windows, and Metasploitable. The latter being the only hiccup (i.e., non-ARM OS) until just now. THANK YOU!!!

Sir, I just followed same steps in my mac m1. It did properly but at last command NEOFETCH (neofetch), in my kali it's not executing. I tried to install it but still there occur an error. How to solve it. Plz give me answer. I use parallel desktop to operate kali machine.

hello. I followed this video and drove Kali Linux to Parallels and drove Metasploitable2 on UTM. Although we have Exploit Tomcat's vulnerabilities in Kali Linux, the reverse shell is not connected. I think this problem is that Cali Linux is successful in Metasploitable2, but it fails to send Metasploitable2 to ping to Kali Linux. Can you help me?

@@cybercatlabs I don't know if this case is the same as mine, but in my case, the setting "Isolate Guest From Host" was ticked in UTM IP Config (below Network) and I had to uncheck that. It could see Google just fine, but not Metasploitable. And like you said, I had to set my Parallels Kali machine to Shared Network. After doing both, my Kali could ping and NMap Scan the Metasploitable UTM VM, and Metasploitable could not reach Google, as shown. Hope this helps!

@@cybercatlabs Hello Adam, hope you are doing great! Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to say that I did what you have instructed but it didn't work. It was showing the same result : "NO BOOTABLE DEVICE FOUND". But I was just doing trial and error method, by randomly changing the settings and all and it worked all of a sudden. The process I used is by pressing the "LINUX" option instead of "OTHERS" option. The rest I did exactly as you have instructed in the video. Anyways thanks a lot for the video, Adams. It helped me a lot. (Sorry for grammatical error if any)

Hi, I have a question. If metasploitable is using host only network mode, does that mean my Kali linux machine should use host only network mode too? And if I want to access the internet from Kali, I should change it to NAT(shared network) again?

@@cybercatlabs I did use my Kali in NAT but I couldn't ping the MS ip. I was only able to ping it after I changed Kali network to be host only mode.

Hi @@damilolaomoyiwola1022 , the only solution I have for now is changing the network to host only to be able ping MS. And when you need to browse the internet, the only way is to browse it from the host machine(out of the virtual machine). If you want to browse the internet from Kali, the only solution is to change it back to shared network but unable to ping MS. I will try to look for more sources.

Sorry for this months of silence and thank you a lot for you answer and the time you devoted to this! I've ended up using a Windows Desktop with VirtualBox to do it, because I was not able to find a solution for M1 too. Thanks a lot once again!
