In this video, I will show you how to install collapsible oil return tubes on an aircooled Porsche 911 engine. These oil return tubes often leak oil onto your exhaust and creating stink/smoke.
Original style oil drain return tubes are captured between the cam tower and the case, but these collapsible ones are designed to be installed without taking off the heads/cam towers, using some concentric tubes, O rings, and a snap ring. I've never installed these before, so I'm learning as I go. I read about two methods/tips/tricks to install these, using a 30mm open ended wrench, and a pair of snap ring pliers with a hose clamp.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to put the larger tube towards the case, and the smaller tube toward the valve cover. This will prevent oil from sitting and collecting on the O ring and possibly leaking. I've also coated all the O rings with dielectric grease/silicone grease to help lubricate them, and make them more impervious to oil.
