This is easily the best tutorial on this process, I watched several before I found yours and this is the only one I was able to make sense of, and follow along with!
For anyone having trouble putting the back plate on or that your K3/K4 are tight, I recommend unscrewing and re-screwing the paddle's motherboard. Try refitting it--it's probably not sitting right. That worked for me!
Man, these are nice and the price is amazing, it's just the process. And when the sticks go, you're in a pickle. The Edge is a lot of money but it seems the future proofing is worth it...
it really is super easy. It took me about 2 hours but thats because I replaced everything. Rise remap kit is an easy EASY 20-40 minute install if you dont screw around.
At 20:32 is that gap normal between the controller 🎮 trims and the back housing case or not.? I just did my starlight blue controller and install the clicky triggers and swappable thumbsticks. Loving it so far. 😊
DISCOUNT CODE. Please see the description on how to get a nice discount for any extremerate product bought on their website. ** Please double check there model number as Sony may change models in the future, this is for the original release of BDM-010 and BDM-020 **
These are great for people with small hands. The triggers are wayyyy to sensitive and my big hands keep pressing the paddles on accident. Great product for small hands
Weird, I followed everything but my square button isn’t working, and the back piece lights up red like it should but isn’t mapping any buttons. I’ll have to see if any of the connections are loose
Hi CTA, amazing video, I followed all the steps on the videos really carefully, unfortunately fore some reason my controller doesn’t turn on, no lights, nothing, the I tried to connect it via cable to my Pc and a really dark red light turns on, once I disconnected from the cable no lights again, do u have any suggestions for this issue? Thanks in advance.
Just bought this kit on Amazon and I now have a couple of concerns. The PS5 controller I currently have came with the PS5 from pre order. I thought I heard something about being able to see if it's bdm 1 or 2 by the back, without opening it, dependent on what the model code says but it's not similar to other controllers from vids I've seen. Am I going to need a newer controller? Also do you have to cut off the bdm 1 or 2 that comes with the kit, or can you just use the one you need so if you replace the controller you don't have to buy a new kit if it's not the same bdm? Finally will this kit become unusable if a new controller type comes out as replacement (like bdm 3)? I've never bought or installed a kit like this before so please excuse any ignorance I may have on the topic. Any answers to alleviate my concerns would be greatly appreciated.
On bak of your controller the model number ends with letter A it’s either a 010 or 020 if ends with a Letter W it’s Bdm-030,. From what I hav found,. Every controller I can find that’s new is BDM-030,..
I watch the video and took my controller apart and look at the board to make sure what model it it does not say BDM-XXX any where on the board back side, had to lift up and it showed the BDM-020
They’ve got another model now.. the rise 4.0 kit doesn’t work with the controller I have. It’s neither a BDM-010 nor a BMD-020. Wild. Other than that the video was helpful up until the inside was updated lol.
My controller is neither 010 or 020,. The kit I got does not fit,. Even the part that goes under motherboard is too wide,. Now what do I do?? I even went to local electronics store bought another controller and it’s same as one I got with ps5 system,..
Hi CTA, My issue is I installed the BDM10 on the BDM20 version controller. So naturally it didn't turn on, now I replaced everything to original and it still wouldn't turn back on.. any ideas why? Also is there a way to use the BDM10 on the V2 controller? Thank you.
lets say the time comes when you have bad stickdrift or some other issue, is it an easy unistall to be able to install the kit on to a different controller once again?
1st question how do you know if its BDM-010, 020 or 030 without cracking open the controller? 2nd question if I don't own a PS5 system and only play on pc with controller can I still remap buttons?
Ps5 controller works but the paddles doesn’t. LED lights up and even gives the 3 blinking lights that says it has been remapped. But the buttons doesn’t work. Any suggestions?
Since I installed the remap kit on my controller, when I start a game i suddenly have no input anymore. It does work perfectly when I’m in the Ps5 menu but when I’m in an app, it suddenly stops. Do you maybe have any idea why it’s like that? Maybe that other people experience same problem
@ 7:55, where is the other end of that cable supposed to be attached? My friend took his controller apart and started to do this with a different kit and didn't finish and asked me if I would finish it for him, also the mobo doesn't have any indication whether it's 010 or 020
Great vid, think I've stuffed it though. Turned on controller and Ps opening controller.. Didn't think much of it and unplugged batt.... Completed install.... Now won't power on.
I wonder about the grip??…..Can you hold the ps5 controller after installing the rear buttons firmly like before installing, because I used to install the 3rd party rear button for my PS4 controller. It worked fine but I can’t hold the controller firmly like before otherwise my fingers would accidentally click the rear button 🤦♀️🤦♀️ So how about your Customized PS5 controller???
Oh I wish you sold just the attachment on back with 4 buttons. I have a existing mod (built in macros) but would really love yours on the back. I guess I could order one follow the traces and solder to the header but would be waste to order the kit just to use the back buttons pcb/housing. Would you be willing to sell unpopulated pcb with the buttons/and rear shell?
Ok so deffo watching this when my rise kit arrives as Its the only instructions I understand from start to finish. ONE question i have cfi-zct1 W. A brand new black dualsense controller (same serial as blue one that just released). How do I know if thats BDM10 or 20?? thanks
@@CTAtechdesk I know i just havent come across the W model yet. Ive ordered the rise4 kit which has both bdms so hopefully the W model is covered. Thanks! Great video
I followed the video step by step and now my controller won’t turn on. When I plug my controller into my ps5 through usb-c the controller lights up orange then turns back off. Any ideas what could’ve gone wrong?
Taking the shell off, disconnecting the touch pad ribbon placing the under buttons on correctly and the rubber sheath on the light are the issues. Oh the battery plug was not fun.
There are a couple of latches on the side of the circuit board that you need to release and it is easy to remove it. That's why it is so hard to remove unless you release those latches on each side of the board.
I’m sorry but this installation is anything but easy I just did it yesterday. it’s not easy at all. It’s doable but you need to be mechanical inclined. The rubber casing on the light omfg don’t lose it.
@@CTAtechdesk Correct I never have. I can now as I was successful and will now convert my other controller soup to nuts but it wasn’t something I’d consider easy it was doable but took skill.
Hey CTA, is it alright to put back on the 4 screws, L1, L2 and front plate back on before finishing the K1-K4s? I'm just having a huge problem screwing in those last 2 small screws in with the screwdriver they give you and would rather just get the other part done real quick if it doesn't mess with the installation.
@@rcbiinn Damn, this was so long ago, but no, I did not get an answer for this even when I went through customer support. I ended up doing this and it was working fine for awhile, but I don't recommend this product to anyone. Went through 3 of these within the time this was posted (7 months). On the last 2 I put these in on brand new controllers and got drift within a couple of months in, bad drift too, and yes I bought the kit 3 times as well. It was good while it lasted each occassion and I felt like I was just having bad luck, but after 3 controllers? No thanks. If you're in the middle of installation you might as well go through with it, imo, but if you aren't and are considering the buy, I strongly suggest against it. A buddy of mine was telling me about the new PS5 Elite Controllers. These are actually made by Sony and releasing in a few weeks globally, try looking into it.
@@AyumuHotaru14 yeah thanks for the reply, i’m going through customer support right now and they are helping me in some way, the issue is i really wajt back paddles and the dual sense edge will be 200€ and that’s ridiculous for a controller so i’m gonna try this and if it doesn’t work im gonna wait for a strike pack to come out for ps5
I just did this and I can not get the back cover with the k3 and k4 buttons to attach to the back of the controller. Whenever I get it attached, its so tight that you can't press any of the buttons so I'm just playing with two paddles and no cover lmao. Ordering SCUF or aim on payday
Can you turbo the buttons? Some you hold the map button and it flashes once, twice and three times. Signifying how fast the turbo button is Will this kit do that?
I think the same think happened to me but i Have 4 buttons on the back. Same k2 left paddle when I click the trigger it doesnt click. If I i just pull it a little more it will but this isnt correct. Do you think something is broken inside or stretched from what Ive said? I havnt taken it apart either.
Done everything step by step. But the end part putting the kinder egg build it yourself box compartment was a major pain. And my buttons are not clicky whatsoever not sure if this is broke or what. Not the best from them this time around I think.
I broke one of the ribbons at the bottom of the motherboard... it's the right side and I think it's a mic because the rest works perfect. Do you know of a replacement?
I have slide on circle and I tryed to relocate it to the back paddles doesn’t work. Everything else works do you know why is it because It’s originally on r3?
Can you please help me i wired everything properly i believe and now my dual sense mic isn't working anymore. I can obviously make due without it but I'm curious as to what happened. Thank you for the awesome video btw
the whole point of me wanting/needing to have back paddles is not having to worry about messing up my L3 by constantly using it to sprint in FPS games. it has been exactly 4 days since i got my PS5 and the controller is already showing signs that the L3 is giving out
@@uhVesh not all games support/have it. not like people only play FPS games. both the L3 & R3 buttons have different uses in some games as you should hopefully know. so, what point are you trying to make ?
@@bellmorningstar4226 every game has auto sprint, you can re map buttons. You’re the one who said fps games. You’re a clown is the point I’m trying to make.
Just do the soldering parts then. If you're not comfortable soldering yet, get a practice board off of amazon and a cheap iron. it's not hard and its a skill you'll carry with you throughout your life.
I just installed the back buttons and the click triggers but I’ve run into 2 problems. 1. The k3 and k4 buttons seem to be stuck so it can’t be clicked. 2. All the triggers and bumpers work except r1. If you can help me with this it would really appreciated
If any one can help, I ordered the tactile triggers face buttons and the remap kit but I don’t understand how to install both the tactile face buttons and the remap kit because they got on the same prongs. Face buttons work but remap kit turns on but has no function. Is it even possible to have both? If so what am I doing wrong
