Very good explanation! You kept it simple for those who may not understand the workings of cylinder heads.

I like when you said if your going to short cut don't do it let somebody else do it. Your spot on saying it won't be profitable for you. The liability of short cuts is so expensive and always inconvenient.

Thank you sir. great video 👍you took the words right out of my mouth . I don't have an oven but I do have a big enough grill with some wood and a baking sheet to keep the fire from toughing the cylinder head . freeze the seats for a couple hours and then go to town with it YEAH ! 😎

Is it OK if the exhaust seat is too close to the intake seat to flat spot them to fit in a cast iron head? I've never seen this before , usually the valves are far enough apart that this would never happen, I bought an engine fitted this way

I wish I had danny near me. I would send him my aluminum heads. I got a decent machine shop near me but I dont trust him with my aluminum heads besides resurfacing them. Cast iron blocks and heads I trust him completely. He mostly works on old hot rods.

I normally do cast iron, with integral seats. I try constantly to reuse the integral material. After all the years in service, the valves normally are the ones showing their "tiredness". Other than the integral seats being out of round, they normally clean up fast. However, I am constantly dancing valves around trying to get the recession acceptable. I have used .005 for cast iron, granted, I am less than a decade into my apprenticeship so I try to listen as often as possible. I have been heating and cooling when I do seats in cast iron. Is it stupid of me to do this? My cutters allow adjustment, and I felt smart that I knew about the part number being the bore size!! lol. I have many more questions, and would love to type them here for anyone else that might wonder. How often would you decide to try to salvage the integral seat rather than counterbore and press a seat in? Should the cast iron be much harder to seal than the seats? Cause I can seal an installed seat very easy,, sometimes those integral seats take extra effort for me. I acquired the mindset that everything gets "checked" at least. I was told in the past that lapping is the best way to check. What do you think? It is a sg8 from 2013 that I am using. I just stumbled across this video and ended up watching it,, so wth,, I figured I'd comment!!! Your channel is much bigger than mine btw!! Maybe commenting about specific things can get my channel a lil jump from your coattails!! lol

Hi i machined the seat on the lathe to fit my bore on the cast head. I did the torch method .Is it wrong to machine the seat?

Amen brother, the world is loosing those that add the little things that develop the worlds best. 99.9 are interested in what sally is doing and why ted is not worried about sally. No one wants to teach and no one wants to learn. We are headed to a huge change. Thanks for the trade secret. It would have cost someone 3 years and 100k in college to learn that.

Uh...1.733" minus 1.687" is .046". I'm pretty sure that's more "press" than you're gonna be able to "fit".

That is exactly how not to properly fixture an FE head! You also failed to factor in your machine run out into your press fit equation Such as the spindle, chuck, worn pilot, worn wear sleeve on a Kwik Way machine and cutter deflection. I'm still waiting on my thousand dollars from your incompetent ring end gap video? ? I see that you never bothered to finish that series which tells me what I need to know!

Like I asked on the last video you commented on, where and how can I collect my $1000? If you’re a man of your word (if)let’s make an official contact and I’ll show you how not only were the ring gaps correct but the engine is still running strong. But I bet you’re scared. I already know you’re scared of clowns. You’re probably scared of facts as well. It’s easy to talk shit, not so easy to man up!

Andrew Evans I was looking for your RU-vid channel, can’t find it! What’s the name of your shop? Where’s your anything? Let me know when you actually do something besides just comment on my videos. These days it’s easy to just sit back and make asinine comments. You forgot to mention the placement of the moon and the air in the room. I like how you said that my videos tell you what you need to know.👍 I hope to keep inspiring you.
